Sometimes has slowdown moments, has pretty much no tutorial, and can randomly jump up and down on difficulty even on Easy... it's an old game for sure, but a pretty fun one regardless.

Getting massive pen-and-paper RPG feels from it, and it's really great to figure out how stuff works and see it in action. For just $0.59, it was easily worth the price, and it has me more interested in the modern titles for the franchise.

Do yourself a favour and purchase the deluxe edition straight out. The soundtrack itself makes it worth a buy on top of the little goodies.

As for the game, it was worth every cent. I foresee myself playing through it multiple times over the year since it's really satisfying to combat the monsters as it is to navigate the areas. Capcom is even going out of their way to add free DLC to the game to sweeten the deal because it really shows that a lot of respect went into making this REimagine of RE2.

My only complaint of sort would be the Tyrant. On one hand, I love how much of a threatening mood he sets when he gets near, but he may have been overused in a way. The original had him pop up a few times in scripted events, but this one turns him into an Alien Isolation sort of enemy where they are always present and just around the area to hear you make any noise. If you don't prepare properly, you'll end up having to make some and alert them to your location which forces you to rush. Those not good will end up being annoyed more so than I think I would.

I wouldn't mind if it ends up as paid DLC, but Raid Mode in this engine would be the best thing ever. I don't want to be too spoiled by their generosity so far and expect everything to be free, and this I would see as a great way to introduce new people to the REimagined 2 game and this mode while also tempting all the other Revelations fans.

Edit: Upon playing the game's multitude of scenarios, the more I started to realize a second complaint that I would have on this utterly enjoyable game: The scenarios aren't coherent. So to say, the A and B scenarios are supposed to be the stories of each character while the other do their own things, but it feels way too overlapped with the characters hardly seeing each other or what the other has done like in the original game where they actually meet up and talk to each other a good number of times. This one just has a single cutscene that changes based on the scenario character and two notes that alternate. Not a deal breaker, but it's something that could be looked at for their future work.

I'd gotten this with the deluxe edition, but I would recommend it for anyone that was on the fence about this particular bit.

What it does is provide different music, more like the original which had more melody-like tracks playing in the background while you're exploring, and sound effects over certain actions like the box opening up or selecting an item in the inventory.

Since the game is now fully connected and not barred by door loading screens, the devs made it so that the soundtrack would seamlessly transition over just like the player. In short, it works pretty well. A near, must-have for those that want the nostalgic blast and see the game with a shift in presentation.

From the direction that the game series was headed after 4, it was surprising with how Capcom's experiment with RE7 turned out and even more so with this remake of the classic Resident Evil 2.

Having been a person who played the original many years ago, I was quite hyped for an opportunity to get a hands on taste of the new but familiar take. Needless to say, I think it has the possibility to be a resounding success. I'll list some pros and cons I found with my few hours of testing with the game alongside a trainer to keep that one-off time away.

Pros
+ The graphics are a definite step up over the original. Pretty much a give-me, but they went beyond the minimum amount expected from a 2019 game. Gore is gruesome and slick with the environment feeling pretty alive and dead at the same time.
+ The zombie designs are pretty remarkable and terrorizing. Chunks and body parts will fall off when slashed and shot which effects how they will approach and attack you. Shot a zombie in the midsection with a shotgun and witnessed it crawl towards me while its motionless torso was slowly left behind. Curious to see how this can apply to all the other enemies.
+ The lickers are already having me dread their encounters. The window scene still has the same tension-inducing effect even if it's in a different spot.
+ The UI and controls. They feel very smooth and easy to navigate. This game was definitely optimized with PC also in mind, and it's comforting to see that even the performance of the game was stable the entire time through. This is a good sign for the release of the final product.
+ The aiming. I love the mechanic in how standing still eventually makes your shots more accurate. This would make the tank playstyle more rewarding as it is risky in not staying as mobile. It makes the addition of the better controls feel like it takes away too much of the threat had like in the original game.
+ The characters have some great voice acting. While I do have nostalgia for the old lines, this was a needed step up which goes well with the modern take of the game. I'm feeling worse for Marvin now that he feels like a better fleshed out (out) character.

Cons (Mostly 'muh emershun')
- Button prompts are probably one of the sneakiest ways in how immersion can be broken. The old Resident Evil games had you required to investigate and see what could and couldn't be interacted with. While pre-rendered backgrounds had clashed a bit with the 3D rendered objects here and there, it felt natural. This demo readily shows you all the button prompts that are pretty much giant signs of "OVER HERE! INTERACT WITH ME!" which I feel takes away from the sense of exploring around the really well crafted rooms and props. Disabling the HUD helps solve this, but it takes away the crosshairs which leads me to...
- The crosshair. While the aiming system itself works exceptionally well in making sure the updated controls don't have everyone running and gunning, the crosshair itself may be the biggest thing to take away from the immersion of the game. Say what you will of RE4, but the laser sight was probably the most ingenious way of that game to introduce the third person camera while maintaining some of the immersion that old RE games were strong in creating.
RE4 even had a burst fire version of Leon's HK VP70 with the Matilda which sported a laser sight itself. It would have been good if they'd just made the laser sight bob and weave for the first few seconds that the crosshair would have been wide until finally settling down when it would tighten up.
- I can't heal Marvin with my magical herb medicine. Would be nice if I could at least ease his pain since he's sitting there clenching at his wound.
- The demo being a one-off left a bitter taste in my mouth and made the timer an even bigger source of unnecessary stress. I reckon this made a good number of trainers for this demo alone as well as their usual popularity. Still not sure why they're called trainers though. Cheats usually teach bad habits.

Overall, this was an amazing demo slightly marred with the thing being a one-off. It has done nothing but convince me to save up my available money to get this game and more so to favour the deluxe edition even. Capcom deserves the praise and money from me as I feel like they are taking this in a good direction with respect to the old game. My qualms with the demo are mainly presentation of the UI which can be subject to change once the full game comes out.

It can have some very frustrating downs over time, but this game continues to show growth and excellent gameplay that I've always wanted.

It can be very intimidating with the learning curve, and the late part of the game will quickly punish any build not up to snuff. Because of such, I do recommend reading build guides that help explain how and why things work as they do. Going in completely blind doesn't always teach a person if they don't know what it is that they're doing wrong.

Years in and it's still getting massive content updates for free to all of the players. Makes it worth supporting them with a supporter pack and using the points for stash tabs to make the gameplay a bit more for us hoarders. Also helps with keeping your valuable items and currency in check. Just make sure to wait for a stash tab sale that they always have at least once a month.

Never buy an item that's not on sale with the MTX store. I love the game, but the MTX can be very pricey once you convert the price to point ratio and find out that a hat costs you ten dollars. Best to just buy supporter packs for what they offer to support leagues you want to promote, or sets you want to collect, and use the leftover points for stash tabs and stuff on sale when you think you have enough.

78 song tracks that are excellent to listen to and give motive to play through the base game all over again.

The devs made the soundtrack entirely viewable on their YouTube channel, but it's worth every penny.

Early Access Review
As a Pre-Alpha player that had to stop playing for a few months because of a Summer Semester for my college, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Foxhole had gone far while I was away and had released itself on Steam as a paid game.

Needless to say, I purchased the game with curiosity in how the game is now that I see a large influx of new players joining and playing along. Long story short, it was a chaotic mess of new players running each other over with trucks and bikes while I'm seeing them start to love the game as I had long ago.

My higher rank was apparent to most as I was asked about the many mechanics and how-to's of Foxhole, and I made sure to be up to speed with the game just so I can educate my squad and teammates on the run while trying to deliver supplies and troops to the frontline I helped create. Even decided to give my squad a tutorial on everything we ran across while trying to get to the next town after our Logistics truck was stolen (Was showing a squad of new players how to refine scrap into basic materials for logistics, and a new player hopped in and drove off without us).

The gameplay has always been quite wonderful, but it's even better for a support-oriented player to be able to teach others how to properly handle driving, shooting, and standard protocols that keep bases or themselves safe such as keeping a gate shut or learning to keep an ear out for trucks.

If you're worried about needing to deal with the skill gap, just watch a basic tutorial and ask your nearby allies. As much as I like to talk about how I've been instructing as many recruits as I could in how to play, I couldn't have been as successful if it wasn't for all the other old time players who have the same wish to keep the game welcoming for newcomers hoping to learn how to enjoy Foxhole entirely.

This isn't a review on the gameplay of the game entirely, but I would like to put this review mainly on how welcoming the game is to new players wanting to experience it all since it is hard for me to describe anything that can only really be had by experiencing the immersion of this game with the teammates around you.

Early Access Review
Stopped playing when they tried to sell me DLC during Early Access, but now they're doubling their price... during Early Access. I'm not seeing how one can justify such a move, and their past decisions are not helping them here.

Can't say I would recommend this game to any of my friends who have not gotten this game. Would have been a good "Yeah sure" before the DLC, an iffy "Probably not" after the DLC, and now a definite "Do not touch" after this cost increase.
