I'll probably write up a more proper review once I get the time to finish the full first episode, but I just HAD to get my positive review out there. Seriously, if you love Boomer Shooters (especially something like Blood) you should definitely pick this up.

I have played the demo(s) a countless amount of times because of just how purely satisfying the gameplay is, coupled with an awesome aesthetic overall. I feel I can only best describe this game as being in the shoes of a slasher film's antagonist. It PERFECTLY nails this vibe. I mean, the whole story premise is just fantastic... I adore wreaking havoc on radical individuals!! Incredibly deserved vengeance!!

I'd be lying if I said the game wasn't a little bit clunky and could perhaps use some ironing out but it just has so much charm that I'm willing to say it almost adds to the experience.

The dev is super passionate about this game and it shows! It's awesome to see just how much it has changed for the better ever since I fell in love with the 2023 Halloween demo. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for the game.

A couple of quick nit-picks. Being able to rebind weapon-inventory keys is pretty huge for me. The weapon wheel is a great touch to circumvent this but at the same time I have gotten used to using so many different keys for specific FPS archetypes that it's hard for me to break the habit of pressing them to access certain weapons (example, G is what I used for the Dynamite in Blood... I would ideally like to use for the Iron Grenades here).

A key to cycle through spells might be nice as well? Something similar to how inventory items are cycled through in a lot of the Build games is what I had in my mind.

Essentially just a Grade-A, top-shelf, expertly-crafted, etc. Doom-mod being sold as a standalone game and I am absolutely 100% okay with that. A lot of talented Doom community members working on this and it shows and I am happy to be able to support such creative talent.

To sum it up, it plays A LOT like Doom with a handful of gameplay twists that make it its own thing, but still holds true to a very familiar gameplay loop. Basically, if you're a fan of classic Doom and a big fan of WADs like Eviternity (striking visuals, big and detailed maps), you're probably going to enjoy this, simple as that.

Additionally, there's some pretty extensive world-building and a fairly gripping and well-written story that I found myself enjoying a lot more than I was expecting. It is done 100% through text at terminals, so if that may deter you from getting this game, rest assured that you can pretty much skip all of it (some terminals offer some handy hints though)

As of this review I've beaten all three current episodes and am very excited for the following!

I'm writing this just after finishing the first chapter here; this game is a perfect example of short but sweet...

Though what is currently available of this game (the first chapter), is considerably short (my first playthrough was a collective ~4 hours), what is there is just incredible.

This is one of those games that just feels incredible to play. Every weapon is satisfying in its own right, along with a lot of the game's other mechanics (throwing things like lanterns and barrels is sooo much fun). Really have to highlight the sound design here especially; the amount of crunchy noises (and visuals, while we're at it) there are in this game just makes it feel so visceral and responsive to play, it is pure euphoria.

The level design is pretty fun (especially on replays) and builds up a lot of tension in various spots, while having a few more intense, action-packed moments and they are built in such a way that you can plow through them if you really wish to. Exploring the levels was quite fun, never felt like I got lost doing so and it was easy to find my way back onto the intended path.

Currently going through a replay on the Extreme difficulty and so far it's been such a blast. This game is just pure fun... a really excellent FPS right here! Can't wait to see what's in store for Chapter 2 :)

This is the most fun bad game I have ever played. Extra fun with a group of stupid friends.

A game I've put off for so long because I was initially stubborn with the idea. I highly regret this, this is easily one of the best story-based FPS games I have ever played and I highly recommend it. Many may complain about it being a hand-holding game at times, but to be honest, I think that's fine. The game has some fine gameplay elements, but I think where it really shines is it being so incredibly immersive, I was sucked into this game because of the story, the characters, and my god the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ atmosphere of this game is so dark, gloomy, and beautiful. If you don't mind feeling like you're on some dark and depressing Disney ride, and crave a bleak post-apocalyptic world, then I cannot recommend this enough. If you're looking to play an FPS and just shoot a bunch of ♥♥♥♥ the whole time to your hearts content, I'd still try it out, you may be pleasantly surprised with your experience.

This game is still pretty fun, to be honest (despite some design choices I much prefer in the 1st game). If you absolutely must play this, pick it up on sale and ABSOLUTELY do NOT waste your money on any of the extra content in this game.

Y'all really need to stop praising the current developers that Tripwire handed this game to for "keeping this game alive with updates" and saying ♥♥♥♥ like "they don't NEED to keep updating this game!!! You should be GRATEFUL."

They are just picking random ass maps from the workshop (that I have played before they're even official).

Not to mention the whole overcharging for new weapons that, now, clearly have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ effort put into them whatsoever -- I think the new DLC weapons have some of the worst reload animations I've ever seen, genuinely. The models are cool though, giving credit where it's due.

Basically, if you think you're supporting the life of this game by paying for community made content and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ P2W weapons, I would tell you that you are being scammed.

Play KF1 instead.
