Buying the Cherub Rock DLC gives you access to download custom DLC songs that the community has made to work with Rocksmith (Plus, the song is only $3). So, if you like Metallica, they've got just about every single song they've put out since 1983.

Other than Custom songs, this game has helped me a lot with learning guitar and bass techniques, and it should help you if you're a beginner or if you just play regularly.
