I had to force myself not to play it anymore. That's how good it is.

And EA only gives you access to the first act + level 4

Larian is a great company, fun people, talented devs that listen to their community. One of the few companies I'd trust to back on a kickstarter campaign

Great fun, well developed, very few bugs for an early access game. It's fairly bare bones but content will come with time.

Some minor balancing gripes and lack of options for wide screen but again, I expect these issues will improve in future.

Looking forward to seeing how this progresses :)

Sorry but as cool as the 'survivalist elements' are in the game, nearly everything is just annoying.

The first thing that irritated me is the typical "hold to collect resource" mechanic. Devs need to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stop this. It's moronic and tedious.

The survival elements are tedious and annoying. The concept is cool, but what it actually translates to is this: Lots more time interacting with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ UI than actually playing. Tied into the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and clunky UI, health draining hazards drain too fast. You will die to them unless you have stacks of each bandage prepared, and even then, you're required to manually apply to the affected limbs by dragging and dropping... seriously ♥♥♥♥ that

Hunger, thurst and whatnot go down too fast. Like. WAY too fast. I think the day night cycles need to be paced more realistically.

With regards to actual building. WHY DOES EVERYTHING NEED ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LONG WOOD?????? Better balance needed!!!!

With regards to dropping your inventory on death: Why the ♥♥♥♥ do you drop all items onto the ground outside of your backpack? Developers, are you even play testing your own game? Just drop a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ backpack so players can reclaim their stuff in a single button click instead of forcing us to spam e for 10 mins to pick up each item individually

Lethal encounters are done in a super half assed fashion as well. Enemies appear out of nowhere, destroy your ♥♥♥♥, then immediately de-spawn once they kill you. There's no logic or realism to this.

Given the above, it's literally more productive to just let yourself go insane, pass out to exhaustion & die of hunger whilst you're building up your base / shelter, at least in the early game.

Bugs include things like:
Trees you cut down will regrow, but then you can't cut them down again.
Physics issues

tl;dr: Should you buy this game?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Still no.

Sensible, 'PC' answer:
The concept is good but the execution is bad. The fun of the detailed survival elements is ruined by the UI. The game balance is off and there are some seriously game breaking bugs that will sap the fun right out of this game. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone in its present state

p2w ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Oh sure it's fun in the beginning

Then you realise that yet again, Korean devs ram RNG mechanics into every orifice of the game to force you to grind whilst whales can literally buy anything from the in game auction house with real money. Totally invalidates any legitimate players feeling of progression.

If they remove gem to gold conversion & peons then I'll change this review but this is nothing more than a polished turd. It might look shiny but desperate MMO players are still eating a p2w sandwich with ♥♥♥♥ sauce & anyone that says otherwise is in denial and a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron

As for you amazon you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke of a publisher, stick to being server monkeys you useless pricks. If you're going to become the new EA, at least hire someone that looks like a blood sucking vampire that is out to steal your soul. Maybe give andrew wilson a call, I'm sure he'd be great for you

Had fun. I haven't played FC since 3 so I don't suffer from the "by comparison to their last game it sucks" hater issue. It's a solid game with a good story and some really close attention to detail that wasn't lost on me. From the singers in town to Timbers AI when near water. Clearly the person who designed the dog AI understands dog behaviour quite well

But.

Story can easily be done in about 10-14 hours - which is very disappointing.
Lip sync in game was so abysmal it made me cringe, with it always about 1-2 seconds behind
Human AI henchman was utter garbage. Getting them into vehicles is a complete chore. They seem to want to die 24/7, running into your gunfire at head height, getting glitched inside vehicles so they cant move etc etc
Wing suit being buggy if you cut things too fine (you'll die after pulling the parachute for eg)
Animations take way too f*cking long, from switching ammo type to taking medication. (Stupid sh!t like being able to jump off a cliff, use medication & then start gliding but not being able to pull parachute getting you killed because taking pills takes about 4-5 seconds to complete the animation)
and a host of other very minor issues

So can I recommend this game? The answer is - Not at this price.
I would recommend it when it's less than half the current price.

Story mode is enjoyable but the rest is pure garbage behind a garbage greed driven paywall.

Limited gold you can earn = Scummy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tactics = uninstalled

I won't support this "EA" like practice

"But it's not pay to win" I hear you say!

I don't give a ♥♥♥♥. It's a horrible grindy experience and the limitations in this game are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scummy and impose the need to pay money. Again. I won't support this type of business model. Go ♥♥♥♥ yourself. Thx for reading

This franchise has always been fun and it looks like the second will not dissapoint. Great fun social coop game at a reasonable price. 110% worth it.

My only little ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the game is that it feels like a revamp of the original. That said however any fans of the first should not be put off as many elements of the game have been refreshed in a way that builds upon the flaws of the last. The game and my play through is early days however even in this prototype stage of development I find myself impressed with the developers of this game. I'm glad that one of the few games I really enjoy has such a great team working on it.

I would like to add some counterweight to the terrible review this has recieved.

DD1 is a fantastic game with well designed and fun content that will keep you engaged for hours. This is simply an extension of that game and it has essentially been rebuilt from the ground up in a manner that could provide a better and more secure environment.

Originally Eternity did not release with single player mode enabled however this has been changed. They were appologetic about the decision and admitted that it was a mistake. Here's a part of that blog:

"
Single player and private sessions now available
Blog - July 22, 2014 - By Brad Logston, Senior Producer of the Dungeon Defenders Franchise

Hey Defenders. We have just enabled Single Player and Private Sessions to Dungeon Defenders Eternity tonight.

Turning off Single Player/Private match in our initial release of Eternity was related to our fear that the server costs would be exponential, and cause us to lose significant money. We realize that jeopardizing the loyalty of fans far outweighs the risk of profit – and it was a mistake.
"

A I already own the original, I've only had to pay £4, which is nothing really. If you do not and pay the full amount then you're about to experience the best of a fantastic game with none of the issues that existed before (such as people hacking their characters to get hacked op stats and bad internet games hosted on other peoples machines). It's no longer an issue because the information is stored on dedicated servers (which they could not afford before due to being a new company)

If you read many of the negative comments they all seem to be displeased about things that have allready been resolved or things that are kind of inconsiquential.

Good game, needs to fix those bugs though.

I've changed this to would not recommend due to their consistantly PISSPOOR connectivity issues.

Devs. Stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with servers and just let us coop with friends. You clearly can't manage it in a professional manner.
