Because I am stupid, I played this game and now I'm sad.

A challenging (yet forgiving) souls-like third-person shooter.

Let's just get the bad out of the way first: While helped along with the inclusion of the DLCs, the story is very short and lacks depth, with many (if not all) of the NPCs you encounter becoming statues after you exhaust their minuscule amount of dialogue. I really hoped that the story-specific NPCs would have some amount of life in them after certain missions, but they remain frozen in their areas of Ward 13.
Despite this, the game has a tonne of replayability. There's plenty of gear and traits to collect and upgrade, many requiring multiple playthroughs of areas to unlock them. The combat is fast and easy to pick up, and traversal is very fluid and almost effortless when moving through dungeons. The enemies can be tough but are not frustratingly difficult to learn.
My favourite aspect of this game is that you don't need to rely on any "meta" build to succeed. You can customize your build to fit your playstyle, ensuring viability (and survivability) by upgrading your gear as time passes.

I highly recommend this game, and look forward to what Gunfire Games does next!
