This game is to wizardry and chaos what Minecraft is to building houses by punching trees.

8 elements with compliments and opposition combined freely and cast freely as projectiles, on self, on sword, or AoE. Water+cold (repeated for power) gives an icy needle blast. Water+rock gives a big splash that soaks enemies. Soaked enemies take extra damage and chain lightning between each other with lightning+arcane, which forms a solid electric beam that crosses the screen and can be sustained.

Too many enemies around? Arcane+earth+aoe surrounds you with magical landmines. Enemies firing ice at you? Earth+fire+barrier will raise a lava shield.

That's all at the basic level of spell function. There's no casting downtime, no mana, no recharging. Sometimes spells can be held for more power before launch, but everything combines in a fundamentally simple way with nearly unlimited combinations.
