This is an unreasonably good sequel to a perfect game. Please buy it immediately so I have someone to co-op with.

This game is so awesome and I had no idea it would be. It's a great shooter that starts challenging and moves to full bullet hell. Excellent level design, fun bosses, a very clever shield/combo system. Old school shooter goodness.

Don't fear the fact that GWFL is dead - the community has applied workarounds. If you really wanted your cheevos for Bulletstorm, well, you won't get them here now, and if you're a multiplayer person, there's nothing for you here.

But that's okay. The multiplayer was a distraction, and while amusing, the real meat of Bulletstorm is its single-player mode - one of the best you'll encounter in a long, long time.

Bulletstorm might be one of my favorite FPS of all time. The humor is vulgar and truly audacious in its creative application of aforementioned vulgarity. The action is fast and bloody, the shooting tight - and most importantly, if you want to succeed, it demands more than "kill it until it dies." It demands "kill it until it dies, but while you're at it, yank it over with a leash, set it on fire, and kick it into a swarm of mutated fireflies that will electrocute it."

Bulletstorm is a combination of FPS and score chasing arcade shooter, where your score is your ammo. 10 points a kill is the baseline, and a paltry 25 for a headshot. Start combining that with other things, though, and it ramps up. 25 for a kill in midair after a kick, 25 more for a headshot with it. 100 for kicking someone into a cactus. Blow up three guys at once with someone you've chained with an explosive bolo? 50 points each, times three. Combos are the name of the game - as if Tony Hawk picked up a sci-fi assault rifle and went nuts with it.

Those points are spent at stations found all around the map to refill ammo and upgrade your weapons - while you'll probably have enough to get by without too much fuss on normal, if you move to hard or above you'll need to really focus on that score, or you'll very likely find yourself out of ammo.

The game looks great, too, especially for its age. Rather than the standard industrial brown everything, most of Bulletstorm takes place on a lovely tropical paradise, with some jungle in the mix. It even throws in the rarest of all manshooter colors - purple! Lots of scenic vistas, fun enemy designs, and most of all, explosions will treat your eyes as you murder your way across the hellscape of mutants and OSHA violations that you find yourself in.

Bulletstorm is a blast, with a hilarious, well paced campaign and a great time trial mode for those wanting a pick up and play arcade moment.

Also, it has a fantastic badass heroine, who takes no ♥♥♥♥ and threatens to kill your ♥♥♥♥ while looking like an actual human woman rather than a battle bikini wearing plastic surgery victim. Can't go wrong with that.
