Honestly, as an old armored core vet, I'd say no, this isn't really at all a spiritual successor. As it's own thing, objectively, it's okay.

A little too weebish most of the time, but some of the mech bodies are neato. but nowhere near the customization that armored core has had. Combat feels paperish and mostly unimpactful. This is more of a "meh" review than outright negative.

As of U15, I think I can say I've turned my opinion around about as much as fdev have done for the initial garbage dump that odyssey was. It's shaping up to be a lot better, and while we're all still wishing for more ships and better ground content, I think they're crawling their way to that point. the new content that we have thus far, though, is pretty good, and the game's running relatively okay again

Avoid like the plague. Trash optimization, more bugs than functional gameplay, and several hundred players (including me) locked out due to the inability to load profiles on their end. Don't pay 50$ to not be able to play the game.

Ignore the reviews of the sad people who's delicate balance of mods was thrown off. No performance issues on my end, 3rd gen i7 and nvidia 1070. 70 fps solid.

Wonderful update, so many returning monsters and so much more cuteness. Worth every penny I spent.
