Super Meat Boy is one of my all time favorite games. Solid platforming, good sense of humor, tight controls, great art style, perfect difficulty, spot-on music, cute story, and only a couple of game-crashing bugs. It'd be a perfect 10 if it wasn't poorly optimized and didn't crash half the time. I bought it at full price, and when I see it on sale I have no regrets ... I feel good for all the lucky people who get this game far far far less than it's actually worth.
Please play Super Meat Boy. Let the joy and frustration mingle!

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is the remake of Guacamelee! Gold Edition. On it's own it is a fantastic throw-back to Metroid-style platforming, exploration, and "weapon" upgrades that aid combat, mobility, and access to new areas (the weapons being your fists, btw). It is a remarkable well put together game of roughly the same length as Super Metroid, perhaps a tad shorter.
A solid 10/10 if you're into number rankings. Definitely worth the money, and the time and effort you'll put into getting 100% and playing hardcore mode.

The caveat:
If you already own Gold Edition, I'm not sure this is worth the entry price. I had and completed Gold Edition shortly after it came out last year. Not wanting to spend money on this remake without knowing what made it different I finagled myself a copy through trading. For those who have Gold Edition and are curious, the biggest CHANGE is enemy behavior. It is slightly more difficult to scum your special attacks ad nauseum. Another change is that costumes cost a second "silver" currency which is much more rare than the gold. And the additions amount to 3 new areas with a total extra ~2 hours of gameplay (depending on your play style). The other addition, which I never found necessary to use is a Turbo mode which makes Juan faster and more powerful for a limited amount of time. And finally you can drop an egg bomb as a chicken.

Are these changes and additions worth $5 to someone who already owns and has played Gold Edition? Well, that's entirely subjective. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't spend the money for the remake, but I am glad I got to play it. I truly love this game, and if it was made 20 years ago I think people would still be hype about it today.

tl;dr
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is worth every penny to a Guacamelee noobie, and is a crapshoot if you've got Gold Edition.
Enjoy!

I really really really like this game. It has the same "fun" factor as Super Mario Bros. 3.
It's a 2D schmup platformer with a rewind mechanic. It saves your previous iterations to fight along side of. This creates a sort of single player co-op mechanics which takes trail and error, planning ahead, and lots and lots of bullets.

Lots of replay-ability, in my opinion, because it adds an "Ultra Force" as well as a Super Hardcore mode upon completing it the first time. There are also a TON of unlockables.

It's totally subjective, but I also adore the visual style and the music. The story is ... silly and predictable, but no one's here for a compelling plot, so who cares?
Great game, worth every penny. Enjoy!

It took me a little under 50 minutes to complete 140. It's a really well crafted 50 minutes of beat-based platforming with great music, eye-catching visuals, and tight controls. It has a tiny bit of replay-ability, because once you've beaten it you have the option to play it in a sort of "hardcore" mode. That level of insanity is not for me.

Anyways, it was enjoyable for me, and I recommend it to people into 2D platformers with great music, and want ~1 hour of happy fun good times.

I enjoyed the massive size of this game. It felt like a real open world, where you could complete quests a multitude of ways. Because of the size and variety of game-play styles it has massive replay-ability. The visuals are interesting ... a nice change of pace from your traditional "fantasty" RPG. The main story is a little weird, but I get what they're going for.

Some bugs, but nothing that made me want to put the game down for good.

A solid 8/10. Very good game.

I bought this game having seen trailers depicting lots of action, fighting, etc. So upon installing and booting up the first time I was dismayed to find I had bought a 2D Minecraft. I didn't want to mine, craft, or build anything. But I decided to stick with it, cause the trailer looked so rad ...

... Then I was hooked.

This game has absorbed many many many hours of my life, most of which were stolen from late nights and wee-morning hours. My ability to dig, explore, fight, and even move grew exponentially as time went on. Enemies grew more varied along with my equipment, and soon I was flying, running, falling, shooting Wyverns, and blasting the he|| out of Wall's of Fleshes and Mecha-Skeletrons, and exploring the far reaches of the world, from under the sea, to floating islands in the sky.

Terraria changed my perception of what a video game can be. What it can give (in terms of experience), and what it can take (time, energy, fore-thought and planning). Terraria became an obsession, so I no longer play it. Oh, it's still installed. The developers have been updating, adding to, fixing, patching, and improving the game for years FOR FREE. So I boot it up and start from scratch for a an hour or two, once every couple of months, to see how darn beautiful it is and try to find something new here and there. And maybe some day I'll go for the long-haul again, and make myself a new home on a new world and advance to the latest stages of the game.

But until then Terraria will remain in my heart as one of the video games that changed my preconceptions about games, and will always be among one of my favorites, as I consider it one of the best video games made.

It's worth far more than the price tag, whatever that is now-a-days, so give it a shot. It's difficult not to find pleasure in Terraria. Happy gaming!

So I've owned this game for a year and a half now. Over the course of that time I've only had the heart to play a few hours, on and off through about a dozen or so times. I am a slut for platformers, but Giana Sisters is a bore, and simply not enjoyable. It took me a long time to put my finger on it, and I'll lay out my problems with it, here, in case anyone is reading this.
1.)The graphics are VERY poorly optimized. I have a fairly decent rig, and even at 1280x720 the framerate and textures are abysmal for me.
2.)The controls feel really bad. A good game (like Mario, or Super Meat Boy) makes you feel like death is your fault for a lack of skill. Half my deaths in Giana Sisters feel like it's the controls fault. It's hard to describe, but you know it when you play it.
3.) The collect-a-thon of gems. It seems entirely pointless. I had absolutely no incentive to explore and collect gems. If they were used for something (lives, or a minimum to move on to the next level), but as it stands, unless you're nuts about collecting stuff, gems are useless. Not to mention, it doesn't fit thematically ... you're off to rescue your sister, so why waste your time getting money and shiz?
4.) The story is generic and boring, but that's just opinion.
5.) The music is so vapid, and trying too hard to be grandiose, and becomes generic very quick.
6.) There are about 6 lame enemy types in the whole game. *yawn*

I dunno ... I'm boring myself just thinking about it. Everything this game does, Super Mario Bros. 3, and dozens and dozens of other games do better, so go get those.
Good luck.

This is a really good game. Don't go in expecting to 100% it because many of the "Missions" are quite difficult (I'm looking at you, Mr. "Kill 8 boats in 1 combo w/ missiles" & SFMT mode!). But none of that makes it any less fun. Maybe not $10 of fun for some people. But for $6 or $7 it's a no-brainer. Very solid arcade-y dogfight action shooter with nothing getting in the way of the kick-arse destruction. Get rausing!!

I'm not giving this a thumbs down because it's a bad port (it's a flipping terrible port). I'm giving this a thumb down, because the game sucks. The only people hyped about this game are those into garbage nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia. The graphics are good, so I'll give it that. But the controls suck, the enemies are too relentless, especially since everything kills you in one hit. Jumping is weird and laggy, as it turning and firing. There is literally no semblance of a plot. Metal Slug III offers NOTHING enjoyable aside from nostalgia. And unless you loved the game when it originally came out you have no reason to buy it.
