Good time. Could use a further reduction in leveling times to unlock guns. Having the meta guns locked behind 40-50+ hours of leveling makes it harder for new players.

Worst UI/UX I've seen in a game that I can recall. Loading into the game for the first time was like launching a gatcha mobile game where I was just spammed with 50 things in regards to how to find stuff/navigate. All of which I almost immediately forgot because I'm not going to remember all that stuff. The old games had UI's were simple and made sense. I don't know why we need all these complications.

I see people complain about SBMM. I saw no matchmaking based on skill in the 10+ games I played before refunding. I loaded in as a level 1 who hasn't played CoD since Blops4 and Blops2 before that and every player in the lobby was 55. I got absolutely dumpstered. I slowly got used to the weapons and maps, but the games never once felt like there was any kind of skill levels it was basing match making on, unless it is guessing my skill to be higher based on being good at blops2 10+ years ago.

The MW2 remakes seemed good for all the ones I played on, but 2023 gamers are much different than 2009 gamers. It feels like everyone in the lobby knows the best gun to use, all of the head glitches, and where to prefire all angles. Gone are the days of people actually running around the map. Afghan was always a fun map back in the day in the original MW2. Now no one even touched the middle of the map, the overhang, or the caves. They only move around the outside of the map, and hard camp angles where you can barely see them. If the games matchmaking is kinder to you than it was to me, you may not see this problem, but this was the worst, most unbalanced matchmaking in a CoD I've seen since I started playing in 2007 and pairs horrible with the bad UI/UX in the game as well as a returning player. I ultimately refunded the game just shy of 2 hours because I could not imagine wanting to play this game too much more in the future.

I can't speak to campaign or zombies as I have no interest in those modes, but I've not heard a single good thing about the campaign.

Worse version of deal cells with a less than stellar UI/UX. The descriptions of the actual impacts of abilities is incredibly unclear. If I put a 50% chance of poison on my three knife throw default spell, I personally expect the ability to have a 50% chance of poison. That said it could be for my whole character, the spell, each knife in the spell, spells as a whole, my attacks while the spell is queued, my attacks while the spell is in progress, my attacks in general, etc. It seemed to impact my basic attacks and not the spell itself though. This is one example, but that is then repeated across all modifiers in the game. I'm picking things up that are only vaguely explained, then they work completely different to how I would expect them to since I am applying to a slot attached to a spell/spell slot. The combat feels alright, but overall is just a worse/less fluid version of dead cells. Hopefully they make some level of adjustment to the UI/UX and how descriptive things are so I can understand better what is going on and the benefits of picking one ability over another. Until then I'm going to refund the game and keep an eye out on future updates since I think there is some level of promise.

Its like if you took everything hollow knight did well, then copied the general ideas in a worse way. About 60-70% as good as regular hollow knight, but hollow knight is so good that this game is still better to play than most.

+Art for enemies is nice and varied
+Music is enjoyable and reminiscent of hollow knight
+Combat options are fairly wide and enjoyable to experiment with. Reminds me of the Dark Souls games and Elden Ring.
+Art for the zones is also distinct
+The developers put enough upgrade resources in the game that while I can't upgrade everything to +3, I was able to upgrade about 1-2 weapons across every type and a decent number of armors.

-Story is nonsensical. There are 10 endings and only 1-2 of them made any form of sense, but still not much.
-Game follows a don't show, don't tell UX. Googling to understand what many items do or where you should be going to proceed is almost a requirement unless you really like spending hours wandering around blindly.
-Boss attack hitboxes are wonky. If an attack is a curved magic attack, the hitbox is a rectangle that contains the attack, not the exact geometry of the attack. This is confusing, but you do get used to it after a while or run a tanky enough build to not need to care.
-While the combat options are varied, I hit a wall with the greatsword about 70% of the way through the game. After looking at combat tips, I came away with the recommendation to not use the greatsword. Almost every other weapon can do the same amount of damage, but attack much fast. The dual-blades being a prime example. They did the same amount of damage, but attacked about 5x faster.
-The map is way too large it becomes unwieldy and full of backtracking. This issue is further compounded by fast travel being locked behind a limited resource there seems to be about 20-30 of across the whole game. You can teleport between major zones, similar to Hollow Knight's stag stations, but due to how large the areas are, this still feels incredibly cumbersome. This was the biggest pain point I had due to the size of the zones.

Overall I enjoyed the game alot and would put it near the top of my list of metroidvania style games I've completed or played a decent amount of and still remember.

A bit reminiscent of Hollow Knight in some of the character designs and cutscene art, but the movement mechanics remind me a bit more of Ori, or Celeste if you could barely see the level around you. I figured this would be a good match since those were some of the best games I've played in the last few years, with Hollow Knight being one of my favorite single player games of all time. Due to a number of issues I found this game to just be wholly unenjoyable. My primary issues with the game is a combination of poor visual clarity in fights, bad camera angles giving you very brief windows to react, and everything being a one hit kill. Depending on the checkpoints, which range from awful to fine, you can be set back quite far because you mess up a platforming section where you had .1 seconds to react to an instant death mechanic. While the games core mechanics for the first hour were fun, the more the game built upon them and complicated them, the less fun the game became due to the instant death functionality. This game is likely for someone, but that someone isn't me.

Family friendly souls-like style game. Leans heavily into simple puzzles and climbing/jump style puzzles that eat up time. Art style, music, and characters seem good, but the game overall is growing boring after only 6 or so hours. If you don't mind the tedium you may enjoy it. I could see this being the type of game I would have enjoyed when I was a kid.

Also, the amount of what I can only think to be bugs as it pertains to hits with my melees and bow shots is very frustrating in the challenge fights as well. Many enemies have weak points you can shoot with the bow. I can slow down time and watch my shot hit the weak point and it doesn't count. The wrist weak point on a larger mini-boss style enemy is the primary one that comes to mind in one of the challenges. I managed to have 1 shot out of over 10-15 across multiple attempts actually count.

Great addicting fun for only $2.99. Probably the best value for a game I have found since Hollow Knight. Plus it is only in early access so while I am extremely satisfied with what I got so far, its awesome to know even more is coming.

I am in too deep, but you don't have to be.

If I skip campaign cutscenes on a second, or now third, play through the game just flat out crashes. You can't replay missions so if you miss a skull on the final mission of the game you have to replay the whole campaign. I did a "quick" replay on easy. The timer for the campaign was 2.5 hours to complete it. The actual time was closer to 8 if you count all the crashes and time I needed to restart so I could get the auto aim on my controller to work.

For multiplayer, progression is non-existent for people who have played before. I've completed the battle pass and am onyx in both controller and freeplay versions of the ONLY ranked playlist. There is no other progression aside from random weekly events that are tied to challenges that force you into gamemodes I don't want to play.

I've played Halo for the last 20 years. It always felt like there was something to do. Prior Halo's since Halo 3 always had an XP based progression system that would unlock stuff. Or if you wanted to sweat there would be 5-10 different ranked game modes. Now there is 3 versions (KBM, Controller, Freeplay) of one Comp game mode, and finally they added other modes that aren't ranked and have settings that make me hate playing the game.

When I was bad at the HCS playlist in H5 I could push for a high rank in snipers or rank 1 in swat, but in H5 I am just stuck on a hamster wheel of a onyx in a single playlist that doesn't matter, and I can't go enjoy the campaign because I know it is going to crash non-stop.

Challenges force you into random game modes. At this time you still get BTB challenges even though BTB has been broken since at least December, and FFA games load, but the challenges don't complete so you have to reroll them. This wouldn't be as bad, but you have a limited number of rerolls, and once you run out you have to pay real money for more of them ($2 USD for 2 rerolls).

I've played Halo for the last 20 years and even paid to go to HCS Raleigh, so I am in too deep to quit, but I can't recommend this game in its current state to new players, even if it is free. Especially since I don't want people even slightly tempted to spend money on it. I don't want new people to come in. It is effectively a good beta they released so they could sell macro transactions against it. Example, I want pink armor. This used to come with the game. Now I have to get to level 6 in the current event, which is entirely based on luck with challenges. I have played about 4-5 hours and am level 3 in the event. Then a friend told me the pink I would unlock is only for 1 of the 3 armor sets, and its one of the armor sets I don't use...It is hard to describe how upsetting just basic customization is in this game. Even the base level colors that used to come with the game now either cost money, or are hidden behind random future events and are never unlockable for all armor sets so they can stretch their non-existent content. I haven't even complained about the smallest map pool I have ever seen, or how co-op campaign and forge aren't going to be out for 6-12 months.

All of the above is under the umbrella that it was also 6 years from Halo 5 to Halo 6/Infinite, with a 1 year delay on the release of the game after they originally showed it off in 2020. And so, I will write it again. I am in too deep, but you don't have to be. Hopefully though...for now.

This game is the definition of milktoast. Maybe it gets better later on but I couldn't bring myself to care enough to keep playing. I was bored from the beginning until midway through the stage after the second boss.

The movement and combat seems perfectly fine and responsive, it was just that the core game play loop was boring.
