Steam asked me if I'd recommend, and honestly?

Yeah.

Fast-paced FPS with a classic DOOM feel. Even asks you after each level if you liked it, even out of early access, so I'm guessing they'll be taking that on board if there's ever a sequel?

Made it a few levels in, rely a lot on the shotgun, but you can just go double-fisting it too for the most part.

Legitimately enjoying this game a lot. The way your ex-students can sometimes return to update you on their life and/or ask for a job is an especially nice touch. Would recommend.

I enjoyed it.

But I've just unwishlisted the full game and am no longer purchasing it since I was playing this version to tide me over until I could afford the 20 minutes version, only to find it's been updated to not let you play anymore and just links you to the full game instead.

That's just a crappy move on the part of the developers. I get not leaving it available for download, but bricking it on those who already have it? That's just skeevy.

Simplistic little bit of fun that's more like a "Digital Toy" than a game. Building some lovely little island towns in it. My only criticism is that I'd love to be able to use more skins for it and make things like medieval or futuristic cities too. Though that might take away from the simplicity that makes this so enjoyable.

Total recommend as a little creative outlet

I used to love this game, but as time has gone on, it's gotten worse.

I used to play it with my girlfriend all the time, but gave up for a while once we started getting terrible physics, and the "Bounds Reset" option became completely obsolete. Many custom maps have parts where you have to dip in to water to get to the next section of the hole, or are at least highly likely to. Originally, that still counted as a working shot, if you managed to clamber back on. Then it decided that 99/100 it would reset you.

We came back to try again after all this time today, and it's just terrible.

The game basically went from a fun timekiller to absolutely awful.

Would not recommend.

Play Golf It! instead, it's not perfect (far from it) but infinitely more enjoyable.

This review has been edited since the game reached a more complete state and I've completed it a second time:

Short but sweet. There's a genuine charm to the game and some interesting decisions to be made in regards to what you use throughout, with benefits and trade-offs for many choices. Fairly easy, but absolutely enjoyable with some good puzzles that don't get caught up in the all-too-frequent cheat of having a note/memo just outright state the answer.

I really hope there is an eventual sequel because I'd love to find out where the story goes.

However, credit where it's due: C&C remaster is damned good and hits so many of the right buttons by both aiding in nostalgia while allowing for certain modern conceits like modability and nicer graphics, while simultaneously allowing you to experience close to (though not quite, considering the icons being solely the updated versions and some minor licensing/lore interplay that affects it, i.e bradley tanks -> light tanksl, light scouts humvees and apaches-> attack helicopters/whatever) original via the spacebar-enabled OG graphics option. Even in spite of EA's rep, it's worth a look, even if it's a "try-before-you-buy" approach. hopefully anyone who tries enjoys it, be they a fan of the original or a new-player. It's a ride, especially with the updated ant missions in red alert!

I'm not normally big on difficulty in games, but this one hits it right. It's good on easy difficulties, but doesn't gimp you in a bull way on harder ones, doesn't give enemies some kind of false-difficulty in my experience either, it just makes it so you need to play a bit better.

One of the few games where, once I play on a harder difficulty, I can't drop back down; and I mean that in a good way, normal gets you started, hard makes it exhilarating.

Also wears its inspirations on its sleeve, while bring in new mechanics that don't detract or make it feel too far separated from it.

Can't wait for the sequel.

Edit: The Sequel just came out a couple of days ago actually.... BOUGHT.

It's rough, but a functional game that can do a good job of scratching that transport gaming itch. It's no Open TTD in terms of ease of use, but there are a lot of options for everything that bring it up a little.
I will say the animations when vehicles turn etc... could do with a major overhaul, needs smoothing out heavily, it definitely has more vehicles available than Cities In Motion 2 though, and I swear one of the british pakset's busses is in the Stagecoach livery, so that's a plus.

Nothing great, but definitely playable. I'd say give it a try and see for yourself since it doesn't cost anything.

Honestly, it's just like Civ in space but with a few extras. Including an absolutely stellar ship designer! (Pun intended)

I just finished my first game on it, and it was fun. Even though I only had a score of 9, I cleverly utilised alliances and wiped out the only belligerent race.

I think I'm going to be coming back to this game often.
