My personal game of the year for 2024. I started the game with mixed feelings because I was not listening to what the game tried to teach me. Once I stopped being stubborn, I fell in love with the mechanics. The art and music are fantastic and the story is interesting with a lot of nice emotional beats as the characters grow throughout the arc. I cannot recommend this game any more highly.

I was not a fan of the first Blasphemous. The art and music were incredible, but it leaned too heavily into platforming without giving enough tools to make it interesting, and I didn't care much for the boss fights either.

Yet after seeing that Blasphemous 2 added several things I wanted from a 'vania I decided to give it a try, and ended up loving it. Did two playthroughs (the second so I could test out the weapon I used the least in the first playthrough, namely dual wielding the rapier and dagger) and find myself satisfied. Same great art and music with so much more interesting mechanics.

Beautiful art. Striking music. Enthralling story. Solid mechanics. The ending area felt a bit poorly tuned, but I adored the rest of the game, and overall highly recommend it.

This game has come a long way from Early Access. A lot of tactical decisions to be made around money and altars to choose from, a lot of moment-to-moment fast reactions to be had, and a soundtrack that helps you fall into the rhythm of the game. If you like action roguelites that push you hard, check it out.

While I have a few quibbles with the platforming, overall this game is incredible so far (2 bosses in) and I plan to keep playing it. Strong recommend.

A platformer that will challenge you and push you while also leaving you breathless with the power it gives you over movement.

I love this game. Metroid map/items for progression, amazing art, interesting characters, ability to customize with the charms... I put a lot of time into this game and expect to come back for more at some point.

One of my favorite games of the year it came out, if you like metroid style games, it should be high on your list to pick up.

So. If you like games that can be completed in an hour or less per session, but have MASSIVE replayability, you should check out Rebirth. I have had 30+ hours of fun already in the first week, and I have a TON left to go to accomplish all the stuff I want to out of this game.

Grade A awesome, IMO better in every important way compared to the original, and no flash anymore!

Utterly fantastic game, emotionally wrenching. Short, and it is not hard, but overall it is worth your time to experience it. Anyone who doesn't is missing out.
