Even as just a DLC this is still, along with the base game, one of the best games made in the last half decade and it was only 40 dollars! Not 70, not 100, or 120 to play it 3 days early - just 40, and it's magnificent. The music and art direction are to die for.

The final boss is a bit over-tuned in phase 2, there's a lot of visual clutter in my opinion (and the effects cause some crazy frame drops), but the entire DLC otherwise really recaptures playing Elden Ring for the first time. I went in at level 150 and left at 197, which despite going in at endgame level I still felt like I was that level 1 wretch walking into Limgrave for the very first time.

Absolutely would recommend.

I wish I could recommend this game, but not really. Some of the changes made to the game in recent year have been awful, while things like kick spam abuse is still OP and used by everyone. This isn't even mentioning how the game deals with interpolation connectivity. Someone with 150+ ping will have a range advantage over you, imagine watching someone fist fight and kick thin air in front of them while you take all the damage as if you're in their face, not fun.

The kick, way interp works and the last updates hold this game back from being enjoyable.

It has its high moments, when there's nobody pulling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it's highly enjoyable. But the instant someone with a higher ping starts phantom range hitting you, everyone in the server is kick spamming for a stupid chunk of your hp, the enjoyment quickly begins to die.

You have to put up with a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to enjoy the highs of this game, which is why despite still playing it I can't really recommend it to anyone looking for a fun game to pick up.

Axing my old review.

This game has gone to complete ♥♥♥♥. Somewhere deep within this hardened outer layer of trash there's a good game I used to be able to enjoy, but not anymore. You're going to hate your time in this game unless you obsessively play it all day every day, otherwise you risk constantly being ♥♥♥♥ on and not having a fun match.

Going free to play with their same garbage system to stop cheaters and smurfs was the worst idea the dev team has had yet. Other third party hosts like Faceit and ESEA have a 10x better anti cheat then this prime match making and vac garbage.

Used to be a high rank but stopped playing for a while? Have fun getting stuck in silver where every other match is a team of blatant cheaters or smurfs.

What makes it worse is that in cases where you run into a team of cheaters or smurfs the system actively punishes you for not wanting to participate in getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for 90 minutes. Want to leave because these people are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on your free time and you're not having fun? Too bad ♥♥♥♥♥ boy, if you abandon you get punished!

The only fun to be had anymore is in the community servers, the dev team has not had any idea what they've been doing with this game for the past 2 years and that's clearly not going to change.

In it's current state, ridden with cheaters and smurfs? It hurts me to say this (as I used to love this game a lot) but I absolutely do not recommend this game to any new players until they fix this heaping pile of garbage.
