Probably the best campaign in the last 10-15 years of CoD.

I can't believe that this is named "Call of Duty" too, to me the differences are too great to call this game a "CoD".

If you're a Sci-Fi fan and love space battles, you have to play this campaign.

Even though I have a PSN account, I wouldn't want Sony to be able to access my Steam account information with all the hacks they got.

So no. Don't buy this rug pull of a game.

Edit as of May 6th:

From PlayStation Twitter/X account:
"Helldivers fans -- we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.

We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans."

Depending on the decisions SOE and Arrowhead make, this review is subject to change. Just like their EULA.

Mortal Kombat 11 Doesn't Want You To Play

Introduction

I've been a fan of MK since I played MK2 on Amiga. The infamous diskette swap nightmare was my "minigame" and I enjoyed it a lot. MKX on PC was terrible as a port; the core game was good if you could play it.

Along comes MK11 with a much better port (at least for me) and I still can't recommend this game. The problem lies elsewhere.

Story

I'll handle this first because it's the easiest one to cover. The ending WILL NOT please everyone but considering the 30 years of inconsistent information; it's expected. Storytelling and voice work is top notch. It's basically Injustice 2 in MK universe.

Roster

A roster of 25 characters is probably the bare minimum for a fighting game nowadays but they handle it well. Every character offers something the others don't (some offer much more though) so it's not "great" but not a problem either.

Multiplayer

I don't play multiplayer in fighting games so I'd suggest you to read other reviews for that.

Towers & Krypt (Single Player Content without Story)

Now, this is the meat of the SP content. Krypt is incredibly large with its own puzzles and stuff but, Konsumables become a problem the way Netherrealm handles them. Let me explain.

Now there are tons (and I mean TONS) of items you can find in the Krypt. These are Augments (stat for gears), Gears (for customization), Skins (ditto), Tower Konsumables, Forge Konsumables, Kollector Trade Items, Krypt Key Items, Koins, Souls and Hearts. I may have missed one or two (or more) so bear with me.

With all of this stuff randomly* available in the Krypt and Towers of Time, after spending 5 minutes in the Krypt I became indifferent to any of them. I didn't care. I cared for the skins for a while but when a single character has 60+ skins and ~70 gear pieces, I gave up searching for them. Krypt is a sink of all things and time is the biggest of them.

* (Some chests are placed permanently so not everything is random but you get the idea.)

When there is so much to unlock, where do you start? Well, I jumped in the first tower and finished it. I get a skin for a character after finishing it (remember, not every tower gives you a skin) but I remembered that this was 1 of ~1500 skins I wanted to collect. My joy of "collecting skins" was broken instantly. So I decided to farm aaand that's most of my 30 hours of gameplay went.

You can "program" AI behaviour for battling and I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand, you don't play the game; AI battles with AI and you grind for stuff. On the other hand, some towers are stupidly hard and some modifiers constrict you so much, you actually don't want to play. Like Ice Storm; this modifier makes ice fall in the arena. The problems are...
1 - They are random.
2 - They hit for 50HP (you have 1000 max)
3 - If more than 2 of them hits you, you're frozen (just like Sub-Zero's freeze blast)
4 - This doesn't affect the enemy.

Another one was proximity based freeze that I don't remember the actual name, but I remember the explanation: "It freezes the enemy slowly when they are near." In this explanation, the enemy is you and the "slowly" is roughly 2 seconds. I kid you not, the enemy AI cannot finish the throw animation because my character would just freeze in the middle of it.

And this is bad. From the ~40 tower konsumables to infinite amount of items Krypt can spew; from the AI fighters to punishing modifiers that downright block or interrupt your game flow; Mortal Kombat 11 does not want you to play it. It wants you to drain your time in it. It also doesn't want all of your money either since Time Krystals don't do much. It just doesn't want you to play.

Conclusion

I know there is a good game in there. Somewhere. If it lets me play and enjoy the game I might find it but nowadays, I don't bother.

Edit: 30+ hours and many patches later this review is still on point. Some modifiers are still extremely hard & not fun AT ALL.

TL;DR If you are not going to play online, DO NOT buy this game.

As a lifelong RE fan (and having played RE2 literally thousands of times) I still got lost in the maze of a map this game has.

Adding 2 lickers chasing me down the hallway was just insult to injury.

10/10 would run from Mr X for 2 hours again.
