Initially my reaction to this game was lukewarm, The "what do I do" aspect of this game is a bit overwhelming right out of the gate. Dives at level 1-2 are criminally easy once getting past the break-in period. But Level 3 nearly impossible on single player until one can get a significant amount of upgrades.

The mid-game is a bit of a slog in single player, but it is important to understand this is a TEAM game. You can solo through at all difficulties, with enough experience and gear. But the game is best played with a team. And the DRG community is one of the most positive one can find. This game is a gem, and is great fun if you bring a good team, win or lose. Rock and Stone!

For those who are familiar with Magic The gathering, this is a light, beginner friendly card game. The UI is a bit clumsy at times and frustrating for new players. Specifically grabbing to draw cards, and some similar actions. The deck abbreviations are unhelpful when choosing your deck, and some sort of tooltip would be nice to summarize what decks you are choosing.

But this version has several decks to choose from and allows for a variety of gameplay choices. good for beginner and advanced players.

As an Early Access "beta" game, a lot might yet change, so don't lose hope! But right now, I can't recommend this highly anticipated game.

If you were like me and were very excited for a DRG skinned survival game, That's exactly what this is. The biomes are really pretty, and getting fleshed out in a way that makes them truly unique. Unfortunately, the weapon and item randomization is really hurting this game. Out of the 90ish weapons and items, you'll want to stick to a small handful if you expect to have a playable Haz 5. In other words, the devs are have created a game which half of the content should be strictly avoided.

Devs have been working on this. The Pay2Win console now rewards you handsomely for rerolling a lot (which you probably should be anyway.
The Huuli Bait, ads a bit of risk and reward for extra goodies during a dive.
The Tactical Cookie has saved me a lot of money on dives.
The Pick Axtender greatly increases your mining ability, despite the slower mining speed.

That said, Nitrogenic Powder is still a must, Squint-ee5 an excellent backup/bonus.
I still see pickled Nitra as a liability, and it has gotten me killed on many runs, but it is often recommended.

Jilted difficullty aside, the game is plagued with a number of other aspects in desperate need of refinement. Unfortunate starting weapons, delayed pickup of new weapons, prolonged level-up grinds, some punishing dive requirements, and a frustrating cadence all suck potential out of the game, especially for new players.

Hollow Bough specifically needs more work. You can now remove the stabby vines, but at great cost to time and health, and they just come back anyway. They block up the map in such a way as to prevent the player from kiting the horde and you just get trapped and swarmed. Especially on small maps or when large gaps in the floor are present.

Game was decent for a while and I was excited to finally reach a level where I could join the rest of my friends.

Came up to an event that was incredibly buggy. "The War Within." Devs decided to remove the players ability to abort missions or even quit the game. Beat the mission, and was sent right back to the beginning.

This is now a 6 year old bug. I can't play Warframe. How Can I recommend a game that softlocks you?

Fora few bucks, I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this game. It's full of silly references, it's simple, yet addictive. It's deceptively deep, once you get past the basics.

After playing all of the games in Sonic Origins, I had to alter my review. Avoid this game, unless you desperately want the widescreen presentation. It's presented as the original Sonic games, but it is a buggy mess, and the game physics are definitely different and it frequently breaks things that are supposed to just work. Can't go fast if the game dunks you into walls instead of that graceful slope designed to catch you. Additionally Sega has delisted secretary Sonic games to make you but this travesty at 4x the price. That said, there are several places you can still get digital copies, and there is a rich fan base that has modded many of the features of this game into other releases. Personally, I own physical copies of all of these games. If you have a real system and don't mind spending the money, you can get an ossc and cables and hook up your Sega Genesis to a 4k TV and play then as they were intended without some weird corporate shenanigans. I have hardware to play them in 4k and on the original systems. To make matters worse, I payed extra to get access to the soundtracks, which are not the original, and are only available in-game. So basically I payed extra for a sound test that had to be unlocked.

In many ways the games are a lot easier here than the originals, and I don't consider that a bad thing. Having extra player options, essentially, infinite lives, and saves for each stage. Not to forget the 16x9 aspect, which increases the screen real-estate.

As far as I'm concerned, the game is a money grab and the most cynical re-branding of an original and beloved series. There are five different editions of this game and they all should have been included as just one edition. Most of the added content is not new. And most of the digital Deluxe edition is a cosmetic change that most players would not know or care if they were missing.

Carrion is a simple pleasure. If you ever enjoyed The Thing, and don't mind playing as the bad guy for a change, this is a treat. It's basically a puzzle game with some variety in what you can do. You go around devouring people and becoming a bigger badder monster, evolving as you go, until you become the biggest, baddest monster, and escape the lab!

Now that the game is complete, it is a very competent SotN clone. The animation and themes definitely bring one back to 1997, where Castlevania came to life like never before. Yet DiWL has it's own game mechanics that you not only have to juggle to play well, but they work gracefully, much better than many games of it's kind. Boss battles seem difficult at first, but after a few tries they are fairly easy to master. I found controls with the keyboard to be a bit stiff and limited, but definitely playable. If I played with a controller, I'm sure it would have been a natural fit.

The story is a bit weak, especially given the source material. But it's also not necessary to have a blast, much like the barebones, mysterious, or downright confusing tales of games I grew up with. I came here to kick ass with Deedlit, and I was not disappointed.

I like the idea of this game, but Hammerting consumes most of my time telling me I can't play it. Obvious goals are held up by endless minutia until you find that all the keys are behind locked doors and the game isn't even playable. I've got three dwarves with no health, or money, or greed, or spirit and no way to improve their way of life. I need a dozen items that can't be traded or crafted, and monsters ensure that my dwarves will die if they stray from the home.

There doesn't seem to be healing, dwellings won't let your dwarves recover, leveling up doesn't reset HP, eating food doesn't raise HP, monsters don't seem to drop anything with healing properties and traders have nothing for you either, even if trading did work.

I can't seem to explore the overworld at all. Half of the time clicking on things doesn't provide any kind of feedback and you are left to wonder if the dwarves will eventually get to it or not. Junk lies on the ground instead of being taken to storage, or traded, missions offer no guidance for completion, buildings can be built in locations they cannot be used, and descriptions don't make it clear what they are for or how they work.

I'm just inundated with barriers and rules that don't seem to make sense. Not to mention it's just slow. The dwarves ferret back and forth ceaselessly and somehow I'm not going anywhere. I can't imagine how frustrating it may be with waves on. I can't get past the monsters already spawning in the dungeon.

All I want to do is dig holes in the ground, build a cute little underground home, and have an epic little adventure with my peeps. Why does it have to be so difficult?

A nice little Castlevania style game. Simple levels, a reasonable challenge curve, and forgiving level advancement. This game isn't exactly Nintendo Hard, partially because of the short nature and better player control. But it does take a bit of getting used to the controls and mechanics. There are challenges and some extra bonuses to round out the gameplay. The music is also pretty nice.

Overall, a fun little nostalgia game.
