devil (and angel) waifus are nice, soundtrack is great, and artstyle is awesome. Give it a try especially since it's Free To Play and the game's not even that big of a download

WARNING: This includes some minor spoilers. TL;DR at the bottom

This game isn't for everyone, for obvious reasons. If you hate RNG and a somewhat repetitive grindy battle, this isn't for you. The game focuses on trying to be as realistic as possible. Characters getting stressed, sick, or permadeath. The charm of the game is the perfect combination of the art style, music, and the theme (background, curios, etc.). Dark, gloomy, and somewhat scary(?) The vanilla game aside, the DLCs are actually good. The only problem I have with the one DLC, The Crimson Court, is if you don't rush the Sanguine District you need to go farm for The Blood a lot. This could often lead your roster to be more infected than it already was if you send in non-infected characters. Not only did you get more of that nasty Crimson Curse debuff, you also waste an early Blueprint that you could spend on a bank or something else. This problem could be easily fixed by not including The Crimson Court DLC into your playthrough; unless you want a challenge of course. The other issues I have with the game is the fact that some characters are arguably better than the rest of it's archetype. Take for example, Man-at-Arms. He's got riposte, debuffs, buffs, and a guard that increases protection stat. Compare that to the Crusader which is ARGUABLY another tank. Yes, the Crusader deals a bit more damage, can heal for a small amount (stress and health heals), and increase his protection. They can both mark themselves which 'attracts enemy attention'. That's really not true in most cases. They only attract enemies with attacks that prioritize marked enemies such as Webber (bite), Spitter (spit), and The Fungal Scratcher (Rend The Marked). This is just a small sample size of some minor rebalance issues of the game. There are still a bit more that the community has been trying to voice out about. Overall though, it's a great game. It can be better with a bit more tweaks here and there.
TL;DR
Pros:
- Good art style
- Excellent atmosphere for each dungeon
- Well made roster of characters to play around with
- Very well balanced stress mechanic
- Narrator that fits the game's theme
- Thrilling battle since you will most likely get attached to a dying character (lol)
- Strategic game you won't ever get tired of playing
Cons:
- Sometimes RNG is just not gonna let you have a good run
- Minor balancing issues (trinkets and character skills)
- Not enough (I feel) enemies for each dungeon
NOTE: This can be fixed with some good enemy mods by the community
- Gets repetitive after you've played through the game and reach the late game
- Lacking in boss variety. They just get harder to beat, but they do the same thing (or is it just me?)
