Wonderful little horror game.
While it's heavily inspired by old school Resident Evil and Silent Hill games it also has a lot of style and personality of it's own.

Death's Door is a masterclass in balance. And I don't mean just how hard the enemies hit you.
It isn't so difficult to become infuriating and so easy to feel boring. It isn't too complex or too simple. The art style just cutesy enough to leave some room for creepiness. The is just the right amount of story to keep you going while not getting in the way of gameplay. There are no unnecessary mechanics or tasks to pad out the length of the game either.
A great little game for a rainy weekend.

Can't comment on gameplay or anything other related to the game itself, because the default FOV is abysmally low and for some reason there is no way to adjust it. Instant refund.
Stay away from this garbage.

A fairly enjoyable "choose your own adventure" type short film.

This is one of those flawed games you should consider if it's on a sale.

It is because it's greatest strength - awesome aesthetic, is also it's greatest weakness. This is because while the game looks awesome there ware many times when it was really difficult to understand where I could go and what was actually a wall. Thankfully this is a problem only the first time going through a new maps since none of them are all that complex and so when you have rubbed your face once on all the walls it's easy to remember what is what.

Another questionable design decision is the semi-random level layouts. Whenever you restart a level all objects you need to pick up and remove(bodies and weapons) spawn in different positions. Which isn't bad in and of itself, but that thing that I think is a problem is that fact that some layouts are easier than others. So there is a slight incentive to a player to just restart a level till a favorable layout is generated.

Other than that it's a basic stealth game. Memorize which enemies do what, plan your rout and execute it. Good for 5 to 6 hours of fun.

This game is short and unfinished. And I don't actually mind that. What I do mind is the fact that the little amount of content that it has is absolute garbage.

The platforming sections are imprecise and awkward. The game loves to instakill you for the smallest mistakes when navigating the level. And what's worse many times it's going to be just because didn't grab a ledge or bugged out in some other manner.

And the combat... Oh boy. I don't think it's possible to make something that less satisfying and boring than this games combat.

It's a shame really. A version of Little Red Riding-hood in the style of American McGee would have been awesome.

Crytek games for some reason have always had the reputation of just being flashy tech demos to show off the graphical capabilities of any given system. Which is weird because all of their games have solid gameplay to back up the gorgeous graphics.
I'm also guilty in upholding this stereotype, because in my mind Ryse was just a flashy qte game which sole purpose was to render the most realistic roman centurions to sell as much Xbones as possible. While in reality the game is a bit more than that.

Nowadays the highlight of Ryse definitely is it's gameplay. The combat system is hevily inspired by the combat from the Arkham games(minus the gadgets, witch sort of limits the variety of the combat) with a slight twist - once an enemy has suffered enough damage you get to execute him with a special animation. All of this on paper seams like it could get repetitive and boring really fast, but the executions are varied enough and the game is on the short side(about 5h) so you don't really get enough time to get bored.

When it comes to graphics there isn't much to say. It's a Crytek game. It's gorgeous. There are more polygons that real life and every single one of them is beautifully animated.

Oh! And there is also a story. So there's that.

In summary. If it's on sale, and you are in the mood for something with high-rez textures and some meaty combat, go for it.
