Great platformer, visually a delight, the soundtrack was also enjoyable.

It's very short though, 2-3 hours.

tl;dr 2023: The gameplay is decent after all the patches - it's a lesser version of Vermintide 2 in my opinion. You need to play with a good group. The crafting system got fleshed out, I stopped playing with bots where possible and FatShark finally allowed currency/crafting materials to be used across all characters, makes it much more enjoyable to switch back to a low level character.

All mentions of earning the premium currency "Aquila" in-game has been removed, there are screenshots floating about showing Fatshark listing this as a feature - it seems that making money is their only goal here and so they tried to erase all mention of it.

Pricing of Aquila is disgusting and that's all I'm going to say on that for now.

Edit: 19 hrs in, I wanted a Bolter, I had to check the store every hour for 12 hrs before one appeared. Wow. At least in Vermintide 2 you're pretty much guaranteed a loot crate with 3 items in it.

Edit: 40-something hours in - I've got level 30 of course and I'm having a hard time finding a Bolter that has a decent base rating, I'm enjoying the game more than previously, the new update is very good, you do need a good group to play with, I'm enjoying the new skill/talent tree.

Purchased game, had to login using credentials for the developers site. Created account, unable to validate. Finally validated. Login not working/down. Several days where I was unable to play or get past login page. Refunded.

Fantastic tactics/strategy game.

Build and manage your fleet to complete your mission. The integrated ship editor/creator allows you to customise your fleet to your fighting style.

There's plenty of depth with the detection mechanics to make sure no two sessions come out the same. Whilst I'm not overly enthusiastic that the battles are one-vs-many, I understand why the developers have done this, but I hope they can allow us to deploy multiple ships simultaneously in the future.

Sim UK has some great tutorials that covers the game mechanics and how to use them.

There are game-breaking bugs that have existed since release that have existed since release that have never been addressed by the Developer.

After 600 hours, I can't recommend this game. The developers have stripped features, gutted the progression/career mode. Left bugs related to buoyancy persist for over a year. The mission editor was removed and replaced with an undocumented LUA solution. Developers also removed LUA code which we used to make weapons in-favour of releasing their own weapon DLC. I'm so very disappointed.

Edit: I came back, got another hundred hours or so logged in 2023. Still can't recommend the game, career mode still feels like an empty shell, performance is terrible (i7 10th gen, 32gb ram, 3080ti) if you have too much stuff in. How much stuff is too much stuff? I had lag because I spawned a crane and several shipping containers to load onto my ship.

Buoyancy was never fixed, multiplayer is still desync central.

Honestly, if the devs had concentrated on the core gameplay of Search and Rescue, it would probably be a much better game. Instead they have to keep churning out DLC's that the community asks for so they can get more cash. Weapons was just dumb in a S&R game, but now we've got space. The industry DLC interesting but still no love for the core gameplay loop.

Was dropped by dev before it was finished so he could work on a sequel, I heard he dropped that too before it was finished. It was a shame because I enjoyed the game at the time but constant bugs killed it. I prefer to play Starsector now.

Probably one of my favourite games. The narrative is your own! each game is unique. Bolstered by a dedicated modding community and lack of Geneva convention oversight, you're sure to have a kick ass time when you play Rimworld!
