Drinking game for you and the company. Drink whenever you see a trait or feature that is eerily similar to terraria. After my two sessions of playing the game thus far, my liver would be ruined.

The short of it, it's an EA game that tries to do something different while being heavily inspired by Terraria. I wouldn't recommend it beyond just having a decent time with friends if you like the Terraria experience but with a taste of the unknown.

I'm always scared to play new titles with my somewhat outdated setup these days. Two 980s and I got no issues whatsoever, aside from the initial anti cheat game won't start shenanigans which was relatively easy to fix with google. Game looks good as far as 4 hours can tell, just wanted to make it clear that if you shouldn't be afraid to try the game and if you have problems, don't be afraid to refund and or wait for a fix to your issues.

See a lot of reviews talking about difficulty and although I can agree that yes, the game gets hard (currently book 4 chapter 4 and I'm already trying my damndest to piece this puzzle together), the people that are struggling on chapter one (I assume the tutorial? Possibly book one?) must be inexperienced with strategy games.

Now would I recommend the game, it's hard to say. Other lengthy reviews get more in depth on the topic and I tend to agree with most of it. I do leave this review with a thumbs up simply because the game is neat and I'd love for it to get more polish.

This game would've flown under the radar for me had it not been for good choice of paid promotions.
To the point though, it's a deck building rogue-lite done well. That's the core and only real reason I needed to pick it up. Other reviews will perhaps urge you on further, I just want to get back to playing the game.

Obviously it's not everyones piece of cake, but for those whom it might interest, it's quite a gem.
Always love to find new ideas and concepts put into good shape when it comes to games, as I feel that as of late the gaming industry has been somewhat stale with few exceptions (most of us know Valheim).

Did I enjoy my time with the game? Yes.
Does it need more content? Probably a tad.
Is that possible to add with minimal effort? For sure.

Solid 7.5-8/10 in its release state, worth every penny.

The game is neat and I'll be happy to play it with my friend in a couple of weeks, but there are some very bad bugs going on in co-op (at the very least there, as I haven't played singleplayer). Quests disappearing entirely from your quest log and reseting progress, money disappearing into thin air, quirks not working properly depending on if you host or not and much more.
I can tell that this game can provide a very good experience, but it's not very fluid in it's current state if you want to enjoy it with a friend, thusly I recommed you don't buy this game if you intend to play with someone for now.

EDIT: As my friend and I decided to put the game on the shelf until most of the major co-op bugs are patched, I decided to start a playthrough of the hardest difficulty on singleplayer and play up to the point we reached in co-op.
To inform you, most of the bugs that are present in co-op simply don't exist in singleplayer. Now, the game still has its flaws beyond the gamebreaking bugs, and I wouldn't recommend the title even now unless you are bored and or like xcom-esque games. It's a nice game, but it leaves you wanting for more at times. If the devs don't manage to fulfill this craving, at the very least the modding community will eventually. I know this is rather abstract, but that's what I've got to say for now.

EDIT 2: As of just a couple of hours back the co-op fix hit, after a couple of hours of gameplay the major bugs seem to be indeed gone which is nice. The devs just needs to wack out the minor ones and other inconveniences, after that I'll give a proper take on the game when we've completed our co-op playthrough and my singleplayer one.

EDIT 3: We ended up just minutes ago finishing the game, I had to check other more recent reviews and spotted one that sums up the game pretty well. "It's a BETA, wait a couple of months." . For all of the great things the game has going for it, there are many poor things that really hurt it too. Much like how I mention in my first edit, I feel the same now after finishing the game, apart from the issues, it feels like there is just a good bit of stuff that's missing. I'm not going to deep dive into all the bugs and problems I've noted down here, as the list is VERY long.

TL;DR
The game has a lot of potential, but it's not quite there yet. I recommend you wait for future updates/sales and or perhaps for the modding community to get some work in on the game before you give this a go. I'd be happy to answer questions or fill in on something in the comments that I will now open up.

Early Access Review
So I played the game during the free test weekend and enjoyed it quite a bit with a friend, apart from some very major bugs the game was pretty neat. Today we came back to the game after seeing a patch being released, addressing what we would imagine were the previously mentioned bugs, and adding a bunch of content. Now, big emphasis on the "what we would imagine" part of the last sentence. As we quickly realized after getting into the game and queueing for a match, that the playerbase is as it currently stands very small and dwindling. After not getting into a game after roughly 5 minutes in queue we both agreed that it was most likely a lost cause.
I realize that by writing this review I'm kinda helping a downwards trend, but I think letting people know what they're getting into and keeping their refunds ready is important as this game is unplayable without three individuals.

This is a steal while the 50% of deal is available. Even if you don't like the things they try out with this title in preparation for Xcom 3, it's most certainly worth its weight in money if you like the series as a whole.
Going through my second playhtough right now, and even if I never play the game again after that, roughly 50 hours+ of game time for the price offered is easily worth it.
