Early Access Review
By far one of the most enjoyable games I've played this year.
Granted it's still in its early stages of development. But the creators obviously put so much effort and soul into this with update after update.
This game can be enjoyed whether you adventure in alone, or with upwards of 3 other friends or randoms, with the outcome being either horrific and hilarious, or both. The game may appear to be repetitive to some, and yes, while this can be true, the changing of the ghost type each map as well as the location of it will leave most gamers satisfied with whole new situations to potentially end up in with every round, with side objectives giving a creative twist on tackling the task of finding out what kind of ghost it is.
While the game itself is mostly positive, the gameplay through VR can vary on its immersion every now and then. It does work nearly 95% of the time. However, the other 5% can be something simple like the radio not always registering properly when pressing to use it and cutting out early, or the more annoying glitches of being unable to hear other teammates/other teammates not hearing you in-game whatsoever until a map change or a lobby rejoin.
Though I am happy to say that this game doesn't break bank with its price tag. For being under $20, I can easily say this game is well worth the purchase if you and your friends want to try something fun and new out together.

Lenghty as hell January 2023 update:

Overall, it was a terrific game, back when it first came out almost 10 years ago. But now, Online is a literal security threat to your game, your PC, and your personal life.

As time has gone on, Rockstar as a whole have neglected the ever-loving ♥♥♥♥ out of this game, especially online. Which is what most people purchase this for.
As of recently, numerous popular mod menus have gained the ability to edit other players stats in-game, resulting in entire innocent accounts being bricked - either through corrupt save data, or hard bans because they suddenly were edited with tens of millions of dollars more than they originally did.
It doesn't matter if you're in a public session, in an Invite-Only one, Solo, or even story mode. If they want to find your Rockstar ID, they will find it. And it's hilariously easy to do so.
This has been a prominent issue for almost half a week now, and Rockstar only now have just acknowledged it as of writing this update, even though I'm positive they've been more than aware of what's happening since hundreds of accounts have just been suddenly up and vanishing off the face of the planet.
And in typical Rockstar fashion, they are not fixing mass majority of these accounts that've gone to support for help. They only get the most automated and unhelpful responses imaginable. Even free mod menus have a fix to unbricking an account. They have no excuse for this.
They are probably only acknowledging the exploit now to cover their asses legally later on.
They've also been promoting players to log into online during all of this chaos for limited-time items (Which was like, a bunny mask or some minuscule ♥♥♥♥), instead of doing the right thing almost any other company who has a greater collective braincell count of two would do in this situation; shutting down online servers while they fix what is unarguably one of the most dangerous remote code security breach exploits discovered in this game to date. I have not once seen worse management and maintenance of an online service to a game than this. The only time they fix an exploit near immediately is when, lo and behold, it effects their real purchases of in-game money.
As of writing this, there has also been discussion of these mod menus trying to find an ability that remote executes anything they wish to do. Not only on your game, but your entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ computer. Meaning they can brick your PC, use it for crypto mining, ransomware, etc. Or even worse. They could see what you do online, what websites you've visited, steal bank and credit card information, and possibly even your own personal information.
No, I'm not joking. The ability to do this is a very real and terrifying threat, and it could only be a matter of time before they find out how to.

Rockstar does not give a ♥♥♥♥, and they have never once given a ♥♥♥♥.

The Anti-cheat in this game is a total joke - if it even was there in the first place, player security is entirely nonexistent, and they expect us to have faith in a company that has almost never batted an eye toward their audience until their own budgets start taking hits.
You may think this is only as of recent. But even on the early days of consoles, they have had game-breaking exploits. Bugs that break/halt progression of objectives that are a necessity in missions, connection issues such as being unable to join lobbies you are invited to by friends, infinite loading screens, PvP exploits like Orbital Cannon cooldown bypasses, god-mode vehicle and player glitches, and more.

All of these are still currently issues on console version.
Want to know the ones they do fix?
Money glitches.

Almost everything else in their eyes is absolutely fine to the average gamer's experience. And that's only console. PC has it worse, they've almost always had modders. The occasional ban wave may take a few hundred or thousand of them down, but for every 1 banned, 2 basically take their place. Referring back to an earlier statement, getting someone's Rockstar ID is an easy thing to do. And once they have it, they have access to your account's information, including your IP, so have fun with DDoS attacks if you even breathe wrong in a cheater's session. You basically have to use a third-party program to run a VPN whenever you want to go online to be safer. Expect to be mod-kicked or crashed nearly every time you load into online as well. Want to disconnect from a lobby of a cheater you somehow pissed off and join another session? Well they have your ID now, they can simply join you in that lobby too. Run off to a Solo session or Invite-Only/Solo lobby? They can remote kick or even crash you from there too. It doesn't matter what you do or where you go. If a modder wants to ruin your day, they can, and they will.
The only form of protection you will ever get against other modders is having to become a modder yourself. Most menus provide the most bare minimum protections that Rockstar themselves don't. They hate modders, but they are the sole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason most people have to run menus.

I'm probably repeating a lot of stuff in this review, and I normally don't write a whole essay for one either. But this company has been getting away with their neglect for player security for way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long. And I hope they get a wake up call soon.

Sure it's fun playing with friends on this game. But now, I don't even see that being anywhere near compelling enough to buy this game, compared to all of the negatives it's built up over the last decade.
I do not recommend this game, nor will I ever recommend it until they actually get off their asses and do the bare minimum.

This game has brought joy to me throughout the years. And maybe some extreme rage as well.

This is one of the few games I just can't help but come back to, over and over again. The value of teamwork in this game can be beneficial for hundreds of other games too.
With constant updates, gamemodes, buffs and nerfs, and mostly cosmetic items (And the occasional new weapon that isn't a reskin every fifth major update), the possibilities are endless, as well as the hours you regretfully put into this game.

Learn the different types of players throughout the game, like Free to Play's who frequently play as Pyro and run towards you Flame Thrower blazing, the class mains who ♥♥♥♥♥ about other teammates not doing their job correctly, the friendly players who give you a Sandvich one moment, then unload their Minigun into your back the next, the random who accuses players of hacking but is just terrible, the players who actually do hack and are VAC banned within 30 minutes, and so much more!

There are so many things to this game to like, almost anyone could find something to enjoy.

EDIT: Just some grammar and whatnot.
