As a free update, pretty amazing. The update is mildly janky, the new menu is.. interesting at best, unfortunate at worst. I'm sure they'll continue to patch and work on it. As for a 5 year old live service game they did a good job revamping it, directly comparing it to Overwatch or Warzone I think this has been pretty favorable overall. Performance issues are definitely a thing but it's a new engine and a new game, par for the course in AAA development it seems.

Good graphics, cool physics, better servers. Can't wait to have my old maps back.

I have over a thousand hours in Overwatch over a few accounts. This is a functional game, but in many ways inferior to the prior product this replaced. Which we can't access any more so I guess this is it.

Monetized in a sub par way, matchmaking is fast but often a hard stomp in either direction. Also, bring your own friends because you have zero time to chat or connect between matches now.

Looks pretty, sometimes you get a good rush from a play but that's all you and the decent gameplay framework leftovers from OW1.

It is a cute little game, I love running around and yipping in the pretty valley! Mechanically it's easy to grasp, just collecting stars and enjoying myself.

I like supporting Indie companies.

Came with my Index purchase. Played in continuous motion mode, blink movement when backtracking. Took me 16 hours to look at everything, 4 hour chunks. Motion sick only once. No story spoilers here.

The experience was phenomenal, the amount of polish on familiar half life fixtures blew my mind. The fidelity of Alyx’ assets made most of the experience beyond real, human faces are hard to do however and while expertly done I think was the thing that would most often ‘pull me out’ of my immersion. In every other facet of the game I found it wholly believable, just organically interacting with physical objects, puzzle solving, summoning supplies, fluidly managing your weapons and fighting various enemies would suck me right into the universe. I felt like I was there for a little bit, and as a long time fan that was beautiful.

Mechanically distinct from the popular ‘Boneworks’ title I found myself comparing the two and asking why I can't do ‘x’ like in Boneworks. Most missed was physical objects hurting enemies and faster continual locomotion. As for Alyx I like the weapon swapping better. By the end I didn’t feel like gameplay suffered in Alyx, distinct designs but equally workable imo. I have little full scale vr experience besides these titles.

(04/26/20)Personally I had a lot of bugs. My lit up and otherwise functional controllers not tracking my hand(either or) and dropping vr hands to the floor 4x times through my run. Fingers stuck open or closed, coming and going 10x(usually not game breaking).Run of the mill total game crashes 5x. I accidentally broke sequences 2x, gathering items before I was told to. Lastly a knack for teleporting into holes and bypassing death barriers 6x!

Overall, a very fluid and dynamic experience. An alien world that was wholly believable to me while I was in it. Would recommend wholeheartedly. Don’t kill yourself getting an Index, the lovely screen and finger tracking are sprinkles on a delicious frosted cupcake but IMO the polished story telling and realistic world is most of the ride.

As for VR vs screen based gamers, you can definitely experience the story on a screen. The experience of HL:Alyx is greater than the sum of its parts however. All the little organic things you do in-world is what makes it next level.

Hundreds of hours in golf! Not all in one sitting but fun to get friends together and do a round on the occasion!
No major technical problems, workshop is a huge plus!

Oh man so much time sunk in this game. Biggest tip, do not blindly autofire your guns, charge them up and fire volleys for greatest effect. Also upgrade your engines.

I've had this game since way back in 2011 and it is steadily coming along! The excelent team of devs with lots of community interaction assures frequent updates and added features.

My Pros:
*Every update makes the world more immersive.
*Certain events trigger certain music tracks that really get your blood pumping.
*Really drives in the feeling of despair.

My Cons: (Barely cons)
*Coming from mostly FPS games the isometric world took time to get used to.
*Shifting items between containers and your inventory takes time until you're used to it.
*I find myself struggling with the context menus, climbing in and out of windows, closing a window I just opened on accident, ect..
*I have to take breaks between plays because I get really worked up while playing.
