Played this on PlayStation 3...and PS Vita...and PS4...and each time, whooshing about through the air and among the grass, and even the moments of hanging in the air to pan about and reorient myself to dive back down into the currents, this game is a pretty little ride, with a handful of challenges besides. Can't say as a quite get what all is being told with the vignette story, but I do think a "sense" of things in the world is brought across well through the visuals and constraints of a given level.

The second of three "PlayStation minis" put out by Mediatonic, and it carries the same snappy humor as its predecessor, Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess!, which I wish we could have received here along with their successor 1000 Tiny Claws, which all span differing gameplay genres — here, a side-scrolling shmup where you're invincible, but the city behind you is not, as each enemy allowed past the last line of defense (i.e. you) will whittle down what you're questionable capable of protecting. As due its platform(s) of origin, it's a concise game, with a handful of levels and a dozen or so achievements & unlocks, so there's little chance of its mechanics outstaying their welcome.

A humoring bite of side-scrolling shooting is to be had. Mediatonic, if you're still reading, I do need m o o o r e . Port M(P)SMP! and 1KTC to PC, please!

Upvoted if only for that vibe soundtrack, but the aesthetics mesh well with the tunes, lending to the "techno Breakout" sense of the game.

If you've thirteen bucks to burn a month (really, Square Enix, you never dropped it to $11?), have patience to note your own progress, and would confer with wikis, guides, and longtime players (I have made ready use of r/FFXI and BG-Wiki's site[www.bg-wiki.com] and Discord server), this game is a playable time capsule of a project tenuously patched to maintain some relevancy against modern designs. I so far have not gone headlong into battles, but instead have been poking around the towns, taking in flavor texts and starting up quests, and have found myself charmed by these certainly dated vistas. I am told all the story content save the end of Rhapsodies of Vana'diel (the [previously] final expansion, added free in 2015) can be cleared alone with A.I. companions, though I've had some difficulty in sussing out Synergy item crafting and am a bit intimidated by glimpses to later character management.

Speaking of characters, your appearance choices are permanent, so be sure to check for how your in-game model will look (unlike the high-quality portraits during creation) and check what your height would be relative to other characters and environments. Your allegiance and server can be changed, though the latter incurs a real-money fee, so take some time to determine the worlds' player counts[www.ffxiah.com] and player regions. Asura has been preeminent for English-speakers, though I transferred to Bahamut at half its population.

If you try it out and find it's not worth your monthly investment, at least keep an eye out for the Return Home to Vana'diel[www.playonline.com] campaigns, held roughly every quarter year (seems to be in February, May, August, and...November, of course!), where accounts that have been inactive for at least thirty days can log back on during those few weeks. I've seen claim that the story content could be cleared within a month, so this could be the option for players (like me) who aren't geared toward the end-game challenges.
If you already have the Abyssea Collection previously sold on Steam, use instead the new client installer[www.playonline.com] from the PlayOnline official site (or included in this collection) for a much faster update process.

These tunes still pop (or, synth?) into my head now and then, and beckon me to binge through as a concept album.

I listen to so many of these tracks every week. So much energy, hitting just the right chords, and so many songs tie into each other, and each segment lingers just long enough to get your fill before kicking into the next excellent bit! Certainly fills me with determination.
