An older entry in the Resident Evil series but non the less extremely worthy. Even on the lowest difficulty can at times provide a challenge. Copious amounts of lore and another stellar story in the series. QTE sequences come out of nowhere and can result in instant death if you're not paying attention. Once again, great weaponry, upgrades and a good selection of load-outs. I thought the A.I. was very good and provided a great coop experience to single player.

I had significant issues playing with a mouse. I found that the game's engine, whether purposely or not, could not keep up with high speed turning. I used a controller which the game originally intended being a console port.

Despite the latest version ported to steamworks I had trouble launching the game which for some reason tried to launch GFWL. Even if you don't have this issue I would recommend this guide containing QOL fixes. https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1533171339 The guide includes an FOV fix but the FOV is still awful and something you ultimately may not be able to tolerate. The GFWL version is available from the game's beta tab. You can find the password in the forums. The older more functional FOV fixes will only work on that version.

Artificial turn speed is built into the game and it's slow. Many of the set pieces and overall game-play require usage of the quick turn function down+A.

It's not clear for first time players, put your weapons in inventory slots up, down, left and right. They will then be accessible from the d-pad. Another oddity is that in the Organize screen there is an inventory move function but no inventory move function appears while in game however you can drag items around with your mouse even if using a controller.

Scaled to 4K with Lossless Scaling. I turned down the color saturation for an awesome effect. Combined with 4K the new veneer gave the game a great look. Another great entry in the series. Capcom's reputation is well earned.

Quod non potes facere sine.

Stupefying upscaling utility with optimized scaling algorithms. A godsend to PC gamers world-wide and has the following benefits:

  • Will upscale your games at higher resolutions while processing at significantly lower resolutions.

  • Will significantly* reduce your gpu fan usage (*based on your gpu).

  • Will keep UI scaling consistent even on higher resolutions (UI text is based on lower resolution and not rendered resolution).

  • Run lower resolution limited games on higher resolution monitors without losing noticeable detail.

  • Can force games without border-less window options to run in full screen border-less windows.

How to:

  • Set your game to desired resolution. Some games will not have a resolution option or will run at the resolution of your desktop no matter what you do. For these games just set your desktop to the desired resolution (2K,4K etc..) and run the game.

  • Set your game windowed. Not full screen border-less windowed which I believe requires different parameters.

  • Depending on game set Scaling Mode to (maintain)Aspect Ratio or Full Screen. You will know to use Aspect Ratio if your now border-less full screen game looks stretched.

  • Set scaling mode to Custom(manually calculate dimension multiplier or quotient between the 2 resolutions [will determine the lower resolution]) or Auto.

  • Set scaling type. LS1 / AMD FSR or nVidia NIS plus a slew of other upscaling algorithms.

Game at (pseudo)4K, watch in game assets become finely detailed and watch your fan noise become non-existent (again gpu dependent). Rendering at higher resolutions also means higher levels of AA may not be required or even no AA again reducing the stress on your GPU. Thinking of spending a few hundred or even a thousand+ on a new GPU, now you don't have to.

Going forward many games like Forza Horizon 5 (FSR 2.2) have or will implement newer versions of FSR though these versions are implemented in game and cannot be implemented in any utility. With thousands of games already on the market which cannot benefit from in game upscaling this utility serves an important role in PC gaming.

Additionally has options for:

  • Hiding the cursor.

  • Scaling the cursor (cursor appears at lower resolution size),

  • Can adjust cursor speed,

  • Can prevent the cursor from leaving the game window.

  • Set preferred GPU and a whole bunch of additional rendering options.
Though not every PC game imaginable may not work with Lossless Scaling it's been tested on a wide range of games.

The developer is active and has recently implemented new scaling routines..

Note: Utility is not wrapped in Steam drm and can be run independent of Steam however Steam will not keep track of the time the utility has been running. If you wish to leave a review for the product then run the utility from Steam for at least 5 minutes.

Best in class.

Penning for The Steam Awards though Glass Masquerade 2: Illusions is easily one of the best values you will find on the store. Rich in vibrant art and good jigsaw puzzle mechanics. Ultra reasonably priced dlc with more puzzles and enjoyment the base game is known for. Ready for the third entry.

Exhorting a very different skin from Resident Evil games prior. An exceptionally directed story with strong cinematography, tremendous camera direction and an awesome script, all of which builds great tension. Very flexible weapon load-outs and great combat.

I've played through the first four remakes and now RE4 and Revelations and haven't been disappointed once. Capcom's reputation is well deserved. Tremendous.

Game has plenty of accolades and is definitely worth a play through. Mouse and keyboard work exceptionally well but only with a mod named re4_tweaks. The mod also takes care of issues like FOV and comes with an in game menu (F1). I didn't bother with the textures mod. Playing at 4K the game has a wonderful flavor. What impressed me most about RE4 is it's length, the over the top gore and most of all the game's mechanics are pristine. The game I thought of as I played was Dead Space and accordingly the Dead Space developers credit RE4 for inspiration. Epic!

Panned by some RE veteran players and purists, due to a number of factors, RE3 houses a more action oriented narrative relying less on puzzles and more on genre equity. RE3 despite being being the fourth game in the Resident Evil series is a great entry point into the series no doubt due to it's wider appeal to those who've sat out the RE juggernaut.

RE3 is a remake of Resident Evil Nemesis and as Capcom's more recent Resident Evil production the game shines in several ways. Supporting AMD FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS)[gpuopen.com], RE3 is visually impressive without CAS though with CAS enabled the game really pops. Additionally RE3's third person controls are solid and the weaponry is diverse to encourage load-out experimentation.

Like the first three RE games I've finished RE3 maintains tension throughout and best of all RE3 does not rely on solving puzzles in a fastidious manner to move the game along. The puzzles are simplified but the flow of the game is better served.

Nemesis segments are exceptionally well done. Yes there are a couple of encounters that you may have to repeat but like most action oriented large scale encounters it's all about figuring out the best approach.

On the opposite side of the spectrum in which RE0, RE1 and the RE2 Remake reside but an excellent entry for those looking for a Resident Evil entry that is a more fluid and intensive adventure.

Coming off Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster and the subsequent Remaster, RE2 is more of the same puzzle solving. The new coat of paint so to speak is here and you're in for a treat if you haven't seen the prodigious visuals. If you're not into backtracking and finding one piece in one room to be used in another then you can stop reading though I would discourage you from doing just that and play this very entertaining entry, even if you have to use a guide.

Capcom nailed the sound , graphics, control, presentation, atmosphere, gun and secondary weapon mechanics and of course the zombies. Playing on normal I wouldn't call the game easy or excessively difficult. For new players not knowing the mechanics there is bound to be some frustration. Many a time I rolled back a save. The game kinda expects you to know how to use limited resources given any situation. Ammo at times can be very scarce and playing the game is a learning experience, a tense one at that. The game has a few lapses of tension and only then is it because you've finally and I mean finally cleared out a section of hardened zombies. Really what makes the game superior to most games in the genre. Story laden adventure survival horror third person shooter at it's finest.

Any frustration encountered trying to solve puzzles or bring the fight to deliciously aggressive and awesomely animated stubborn zombies will pay off in the end. Boredom never set in. RE2 keeps on driving like a runaway train. Whether intellectually or adapting to it's rules. When you're done there is the other character's story to play and additional modes unlock upon finishing the game. Both protagonists have a second story play through adding much re-playability.

I've enjoyed the Resident Evil formula in the first three remakes, RE0 through RE2. Superior adventure games all of them but so far this is the proverbial sweet cherry on top.

Like the Resident Evil 0 remake, one has the option to play with the classic (tank) control scheme or the new alternative scheme. Classic controls work fine though can get unwieldy during a few set pieces. Unlike the Resident Evil 0 remake where you controlled one character but were able to switch between 2, here you only control one character. In RE0 there was more interactivity though here there is the dread of being alone. Both work for each respective game. Both games have terrific atmosphere and Capcom did tremendous work with the visuals.

Passages can easily be missed due to the fixed camera though luckily maps can be found for each section. The story is told throughout your play-through. If you're new to the game and not using a guide you'll be back tracking a lot looking for keys, doors and items. New players therefore, due to back tracking, artificially extend the game. With extending the game, the story sequences are further apart and this is unfortunate because there aren't that many. There are notes and files to find but the game needs more story and more lore, especially for first time players.

I know many RE fans don't consider RE0 worthy but I didn't find much in terms of game-play to differentiate the two games except what I've stated here. Both are excellent adventure games.

Battle Chasers, a not exceptionally grindy JRPG like named for the published graphic novels, seems to have ticked all the boxes. Charming with addictive battle and top down over-world mechanics and a simple fishing game that I couldn't get enough of. Good quality of life features like optional battle engagement with lower level enemies. JRPG like battles with logical and varying skill sets for each of the 6 characters (explore with 3 at a time). Dungeon skills reserved for dungeon exploring in nicely constructed 3D dungeons complemented with by a nice cell shaded anime aestetic.

Exceptionally polished and clearly produced with labors of love, Battle Chasers provided very good entertainment. The game has a weird implementation of new game plus so be forewarned.

As adventure games go Resident Evil Zero is very good. Remastered and played at 4K super sampled I found the visuals very appealing. The atmosphere is awesome and the story is good except after the introduction the story takes some time to get moving. The initial set piece is claustrophobic though claustrophobic is most likely what the designers were going for.

Classic "tank" controls are back though there is an option to deviate. The classic control scheme is akin to a straight jacket of sorts. I used, initially persevered better describes my experience though given the environments and the static cameras, I thought classic controls just worked better.

Of the three difficulties easy is easily described as story mode. A challenge or two might await but nothing substantial. Given the control scheme playing on hard, maybe normal, would just lead to frustration unless of course you are familiar with the game and know what to do in most every pressing situation.

There are a ton of real-time cut scenes, an extras section for reviewing all of the real time scenes, 60 FPS game-play, 3 different anti-alias modes and a wide screen implementation.

Except for the rough start and getting used to the classic controls, my play-through of Resident Evil Zero was very enjoyable. There are plenty of puzzles and action, an awesome atmosphere and the story which is the first in the time line of the Resident Evil digital game universe.
