Four exhilarating fantastic Raiden vertical shooters. The original Raiden looks something out of the 90's though the others look good and all play great. The musical score is top notch, though the score and the sound fidelity unfortunately seem somewhat muted. The overall presentation is more than sufficient.

There are complaints in the forum and in many reviews concerning the allowance of only 3 continues. First; each game has 3 modes; Arcade, Mission and Training. Training serves up unlimited play so these complaints are baseless. The objective with games in this genre is to complete the game on one credit (1cc) and the game allows you 3 additional credits in addition to the starting credit. More than fair and accessible to all.

Each of the four vary in the number of ships offered with Raiden Fighters Jet offering a good dozen or so and unlocked right out of the gate.

The games in the package are:
● Raiden
● Raiden Fighters
● Raiden Fighters 2
● Raiden Fighters Jet

Published to Steam in 2016 the package is an exceptional value offering both local and online play with the ability to create your own room, achievements and cloud saving so you can pickup on your favorite hand held. Awesome.

Having prior role-played within the rules and boundaries of Planescape: Torment and having written most positively about that construct I can enthusiastically categorize Torment: Tides of Numenera (ToN) as emblematic of Planescape's intentions and direction. In other words ToN is a worthy sequel and a worthy spiritual successor to a beloved masterpiece. A successor yes and not a template constructed by carbon, an entirely new work whose prose is masterly penned independent of it's fore-bearer's own genius.

The two works share the options to avoid potential combat though the elder is imbued by real time as opposed to the turn based nature of ToN. The elder's foundation is in an older Dungeon and Dragon rule set where the new sibling is founded in the tabletop rule set of Monte Cook's Numenera. The D&D - Numenera rule set differential is refreshing and pc and npc alignments not only have new meanings but are important triggers intricate to the presented story lines.

Comparing combat between the two and I may or may not be in the minority, I found ToN's combat to be more robust, strategical and imbued with more options acquired through inventory mechanics. Mechanics are sufficiently communicated to the user through a well designed gui. P:T's combat, though real time, felt entirely cheesy and I welcomed the new turn based direction. The caveat is how you play. What combat do you avoid. In ToN you may find yourself playing 10, 15 or more hours without any combat or just a few battles. One can categorize ToN as having a slow start but this is entirely subjective.

Concerning potential npcs who you can lobby to join your party; I know I missed opportunities to recruit due to choices made but I never felt that either game denied me a decent pool from which to recruit. Of those I recruited in ToN, each was supplied with an extensive background, many by questing, and the game presented good dialog choices when I choose to interact with each party member. Switching out party members surprisingly was simple and was within the rules of the lore and world the authors and designers created.

Inventory mechanics which I've previously mentioned in the context of combat additionally played a pivotal role and adds to lore and your role playing possibilities. Obtained world items may or may not have various uses, uses which are up to the player to trigger and initiate. New paths may be discovered or you may drastically change events.

Finally I would like to briefly mention character classes, character attributes, character leveling and party rejuvenation. Briefly because these mechanics are best discovered and have cautioned myself not to completely divulge to the detriment of my readers.

Based on the Numenera rule set leveling mechanics I found to be thoroughly unique. Your PC's class can be determined in the beginning. Character attributes are determined by various attribute pools affected when your character levels. Character levels are denoted by tiers. Within each tier you have five choices and each choice may only be utilized once per tier. Upon utilizing all five gets you to the next tier. Tiers are not just representations of leveling abstracts but play an existential function inherent in the game's systems. Finally the world continues and quests may be lost even as you sleep though rejuvenation is possible during various situations and conditions.

Able to distinguish itself while introducing new *tides*, Planescape: Tides of Numenera represents distinctive and enveloping story filled narratives immersed in a science fiction fantasy charmed filled construct ready to be traversed by the next beckoning adventurer. Like P:T, ToN deserves a second play through.

Uh Oh. 23 levels in to the campaign which is all +1/-1 Solitaire but that's OK but I'm just about done with this. Ridiculous prices for power-ups which makes the game feel like it was developed for the mobile crowd. To boot power-ups are too standard and don't show any inventiveness like Reville's Home Run Solitaire.

Another review said the game does not have a resolution menu though the game adapts to your desktop resolution just fine. Played @4K no issues.

A masterpiece both in story and in pen whose literary stamp will be engraved in time until time itself ceases.

Planescape Torment is based on an older Dungeons and Dragons rule-set. Some systems such as item usage and management of spell books may take a while to master. Visually old but the game displays @4K and it's systems function incredibly well. There are voice overs though there is also a massive amount of reading. The prose is god like so the investment made is worth while. A guide may be useful for those adventurers that don't know what to do next.

Blown away and will replay. Assigning different starting attributes and alignment to the protagonist does significantly enhance replayability.

Arguably the best CRPG on Steam.

It is what it is. Given the popularity of the TV game show with Steve Harvey, Family Feud needs to be remade proper with Steve hosting. The digital version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire wasn't anything special but at least Millionaire had a stage, a host and an audience. The digital game show genre is extremely bare yet millions of people watch these shows everyday. C'mon, someone pick up the ball and run with it.

The racing is OK but the game forces upgrades. True, I'm still in the beginning of the game so perhaps this changes. What I am referring to is that the game has the bikes performance rated similar to Forza'a PI or performance index. The PI is always the same for the participating bikes. If you need to purchase a bike from the garage you are thereby forced to upgrade the bike in order to compete. This removes all of the flexibility that say Forza provides. Sort of a deal breaker.

The interface also needs work. This is the second iteration of the series and one would think Milestone would of nailed this. It is very easy, especially if you are not paying attention to purchase a bike you already have wasting precious funds, as the game does not alert you that you already own the bike you seek to purchase.

Other interface issues abound, since the game does not scale performance indexes to the player, not being able to see the other bikes participating performance index prior to upgrading your bike is a major issue. The event may say up to PI 750 but one, you can't upgrade the bike you've purchased anywhere near that number and two, the participating bikes are also nowhere near that number so what is the point of stating an event is for bikes under 750 PI?

Giving credit where credit is due, first person racing, that is racing from the helmet perspective in Ride 2 is tremendous. The control is excellent and the game's immersive nature is awesome.

Not a great start. I know I'm very late to the party so to speak but I hope I find the third, fourth and fifth iterations to be well thought out than two. If I have more to say or my opinion on the game changes as I play I will update my thoughts here.

Post Review:

- The game when showing eligible bikes for chosen events should also show bikes that can meet the PI (PP) criteria when upgrades are removed.

- When restoring removed upgrades you have to restore one by one. Additionally, when restoring rims you get the brands first but no indicator which brands or rims you have purchased. You have to drill through every brand until you find the one you've purchased.

Space Moth: Lunar Edition; a bullet hell shooter with an interesting take on the genre.

+ Great scoring system.
+ Good control.
+ Nice presentation.
+ Simple to learn though very difficult to master.
+ Longevity, keeps you coming back for more.
+ Sort of a love letter to Musihimesama.

- No tate mode.

Engaging with the product for many hours and overwhelmingly experiencing far more positives than negatives I thought quite awhile how I wanted to approach this review.

Ultimately I decided to write this review from the perspective of one who wishes to accomplish all achievements without "cheesing", i.e. in a manner which defeats garnering achievements while playing the game as the game was intended to be played.

Nightmare Reaper features four power-ups. Each of the achievements in question requires the player to obtain 500 of each. In sum, an aggregation of 2000 power-ups to be acquired during game-play in order to meet the developer's achievement goals.

Another achievement requires the player to reach, not complete the 3rd New Game Plus. That would be three complete games. Reaching this achievement and not yet triggering the four power-up achievements and enjoying the game I played through New Game Plus 3 for a completion total of four runs but without triggering the four power-up achievements.

Asking the developer on average how long should the four achievements take to trigger yielded an answer of "It takes a long time".

Nightmare Reaper encompasses almost 90 levels and if you know the game well as I do, especially it's RNG nature and you do the math you will notice that these four achievements will indeed take "a long time" to unlock.

What is "a long time". On average I cannot tell you as the developer will not publish the average. Certain games who expose similar achievements provide a meter informing their users as to their accomplishments towards their achievement goals.

This developer adamantly refuses to meter his "it takes a long time" achievements (at this time) relegating the player to a slave like status ensuring a grind experience but without the proper information required to work through the required multiple play-throughs and in my opinion thus ruining the experience and leaving a sour taste.

For those wishing to 100% Nightmare Reaper don't bother. For those interested in an awesome Rogue-Like FPS experience you are in for a treat. I say this with the caveat that the organic rush from playing will not be reached until the first iteration of New Game Plus for that is when you would have acquired the requisite skills to make the game fluid as opposed to annoying.

The list of games I have played four consecutive times with unabated OCD is very short. Nightmare Reaper joins many heavy weight titles in this regard including Mass Effect 1/2/3, Dead Space and Borderlands.

Nightmare Reaper certainly separates itself from other games in the Rogue-Like genre. The game let's you disable earned skills obtained via menu options, The game employs NES like mini games to obtain skills and more importantly lets the player disable these mini games without penalty ensuring a highly customized experienced. In this regard, the developer's decision not to meter the four power-up achievements is puzzling. So focused on creating such a customized experience for his players but employing such a sadistic like achievement environment for his players.

Within Nightmare Reaper you will come across many weapons with many attributes. Unfortunately just about all of the magic like weapons are too weak and are not well balanced. You will also find that many of the color coded (white, green, blue, gold) non magic weapons have little differentiation in terms of effectiveness so while it's really cool to get a great a gold weapon, in many cases the the white or green version are just as effective as well.

As a Rogue-Like there is much to be discovered by the player and you will find yourself scouring the forums or guides to figure things out. I will not reveal any secrets or mechanics here. It's a welcome part of the experience.

Sans achievements I enjoyed my time with Nightmare Reaper. Clearly a lot of work and thought went into it's production. I highly encourage everyone to play at least to New Game Plus 2 however if you are here only to 100% the achievements without "cheesing" stay away. The developer's attitude in this regard is very disappointing.

Edit:

- The player must achieve the four power-up achievements in question within one save file.
- Players will use many power-ups during Arena play however the four power-up achievements (obtained in the arena) in question are disqualified from achievement goals.

Stargunner is an excellent 1996 shooter developed by Apogee that is free on the store. Running in a DOSBox it recognized my xinput controller right out of the box. Given the number of available orbitals and other weapon / engine selections the ship is very customizable as well. Took 27 years to find, never too late. A review on the store page mentions to modify the game's DOS config file for ultra wide-screen.

************Edit June 7, 2024************

Rating changed internally to thumbs down.

Review changed back to negative. Bug exists for 6 months as of this writing where you can not see friends scores if you have "many" friends with this product. Developers have not responded and don't seem to care.

************Edit November 23, 2023************

Rating changed to thumbs up.

Concerning the four Marvel Packs in question.
Zen has created 2 additional FX bundles for the four.
Problem concerning the Marvel packs resolved.
**********************************************

Massive thumbs down for not accommodating their earliest supporters with the discount price. In the earliest days of Zen you could buy tables individually and then later these tables were put into bundles of 2 or 3 tables. If you did not buy the tables as bundles as in the early days of PFX3 you do not have access to the discounted price to carry your tables over.
