Good game, tho story mode could be better and online is full of cheese and has latency issues.

Story: 85/100 - The way this game's story is told, is by Silas Greaves (the protagonist) telling his tales as a bounty hunter in the old west to a bunch of saloon patrons. Therefore, Silas is constantly narrating during gameplay, while the listeners also comment on his stories, as well as questioning whether or not he is telling the truth. It is a really interesting way of telling a narrative to the player, which I really enjoyed, although it was a little hard to focus on what was being said while focusing on the action.

The story itself is a classic tale of revenge, with Silas trying to find the men that murdered his brothers and also almost him. A lot of the characters you encounter in the game are based on real people from the old west, even down to their names. Although obviously a lot of the actual events surrounding these people are made up, and or exaggerated.

Overall I quite liked Gunslinger's narrative and storytelling through narration, which made it a very unique experience.

Gameplay: 100/100 - The gameplay is where Gunslinger really shines. While at its core it is fairly similar to it's predecessor, Call of Juarez Bound in Blood (Lets pretend The Cartel doesn't exist), it is a lot more refined and snappier. You also only play one character now, as opposed to both CoJ 1 and Bound in Blood in which you both played as two separate characters.

The gunplay feels very good and satisfying. There are four different sidearms, and three different primary weapons. They all feel distinct from another and all have their up and downsides. Dynamite also makes it's return, again functioning as a grenade pretty much.

The Dueling is the best in the series. You have to gain focus by aiming at your opponent while keeping your hand close to your gun to gain speed. You can kill your foes honorably by drawing only once they start reaching for their gun, or dishonorably by drawing first.

The Concentration Mode is back as well, at this time works more like Deadeye from Red Dead Redemption, slowing down time while allowing you to pick your targets of yourself. Additionally there is Sense of Death, which allows you to dodge a lethal bullet that would've killed you by engaging in a QTE.

What is completely new on the other hand, are the skill trees. I know what you're thinking, everything needs a skill tree nowadays, but hear me out. There are three skill trees, one for each weapon type: Revolvers, Rifles and Shotguns. So, depending on your preferences, you can completely ignore one of the trees for example to favor one in particular. Not only do these skill trees just improve each of their weapon types respectively, but they also some more unique skills such as concentration lasting longer and filling up faster, your own dynamite being easier to shoot of the air, or simple skills like being able to reload while sprinting. Each skill tree also only as twelve skills, so it's not like it just exists to bloat the game, but to make the gameplay more fun while allowing the player to gradually learn the different mechanics some of these skills offer.

There are four difficulties, Easy, Normal and Hard. The last difficulty, "True West" is only unlocked after beating the game for the first time. It strips the HUD away completely and makes enemies more lethal, however enemies seem to also die faster to even things out.

There also collectibles called "Nuggets of Truth". These offer trivia about the Old West, the real life counterparts of the characters in the game among other things.

Aside from the Story, there also is the Arcade mode and the Duel mode.
The Arcade mode throws you into the same locations from the story mode, and your goal is to chain up kills as much as possible to get the highest score.
The Duel mode lets you duel fifteen opponents in a row while only giving you five lives. Some of these duels are recycled from the story, other are new.

Visuals: 90/100 - The visuals are stylized to look cartoonish but realistic at the same time. Its hard to explain, but it made the game age a lot better. Antialiasing and FOV can only be accessed via config file which is a bit annoying.

Performance: 95/100 - The game runs pretty much flawlessly. Some minor hitching, but barely noticeable.

Audio: 95/100 - The audio is pretty much flawless. The Voice Acting is top notch, gunfire, explosions, bullets flying past you, it all sounds very authentic. The OST also compliments the game quite well, and some tracks are pretty memorable.

Bugs: 100/100 - None that come to mind.

Overall: 95/100

Length:
4-5h - Story Only
6-7h - Story + Some Sides
8-11h - 100%

TL;DR: Call of Juarez Gunslinger is an excellent shooter with addicting gameplay and a great story with unique story telling. If you're a fan of westerns or shooters, you should absolutely give this gem a try. On top of that, it is also quite short, making it a good palate cleanser.
