Dave the Diver is a phenomenally executed game. The most enticing aspect of the game is its varied dips into genres beyond collection. It's easy to find games that do collection well, but few offer more than a passing delight. The games which do collection well, but expand beyond that gameplay model often venture into some sort of transformation mechanic. Whether it be cooking, crafting, settlement development, etc, a well developed secondary applied system is essential in distinguishing a trash game from a good one. What Dave the Diver does better than than any other game I've played before is execute on multiple secondary systems. So well, in fact, that its secondary systems create their own primary systems. Suddenly, you have game modes embedded in game modes that are linked to the primary goal but are also linked to the other systems that the secondary system's secondary system rewards after you've unlocked the tertiary system's endgame which....

All this is to say: Dave the Diver is a wonderful game with depth far deeper than its waters that I wholeheartedly recommend.
