This game crashes constantly.

Probably about a third of all multiplayer matches crashes for most people in the game. When the game doesn't crash there are huge game breaking bugs that happen commonly like not being able to use any ability on ships at all and having to set them to autocast.

If the game didn't crash constantly I'd say things like this game plays well but has balance issues and the unlock system can get annoying but the reality is that the game crashes so often any critique of the game is meaningless. The game doesn't work.

I've played the game since founders beta so on and off since 2012.

This game hasn't fixed its huge issues for years.

Mech combat is poorly balanced, favouring clans, the more expensive faction, since they were released.

The grind is rough, the first 25 matches gives you a large bonus so you can buy one IS mech and most of its upgrades. But that is only once and each new mech requires some basic upgrades like double heatsinks, a necessary update at 1.5 million for every mech, endo-steel, and new engines and weapons. After you get one mech you need to master 2 other variants of the same chassis to unlock the skills required to compete with veterans who have been playing for a long time.

The queue times are probably the biggest killer, taking 5+ minutes to find a basic match for the game's most common game mode and that's the fastest it gets. Community Warfare queues can take up to 30 minutes.

Game modes in this game are all really simplistic with the TDM and team conquest styles because really basic kill-all-enemies is fine but the community warfare mode is completely lacking on any deeper roles or meaning despite it being supposedly the final game mode for faction vs faction warfare. Factions are so empty that everyone jumps around to whatever faction has enough people and there's no meaning to planetary losses or gains.

Overall, this game has been developed poorly for years, minimal viable product being an actual term used to describe it by the developers, and this is just an attempt to gain a few more people before the game goes under. The free to play game is usually described as having whales to make money and a large amount of people to fill the game so everyone's happy. MWO is a game that only has whales left and they're desperate for the game to appeal to people who don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on this game.

The new perk system is a completel step down for the SPECIAL/Skill system of the past. It level gates everything behind perks removing the ability to specialize at low level. SPECIAL has turned from a stat system into a perk selection system, which is terrible to navigate, and forces completely dull builds if you want access to the awful, but necessary crafting system.

Weapon selection has been replaced with crafting, scrounging dungeons for garbage so you can use the components to make slightly improved versions of existing weapons. It's much less interesting to constantly make tiny improvement on weapons than to find a new weapon that's actually better and the weapon variation being low means that throughout the game every NPC, Raider and the player character are running around with the same weapons the whole time.

The story, and the scripting, fall apart by the end and I was forced to console command move around NPCs to complete stuff and had to load 30 minute old saves to complete because of a scripting bug multiple times.

Brigador has good controls, a lot of different weapons, and replayability. It's reasonably challenging and promotes just playing different styles and dying often but never becomes frustrating.
