Early Access Review
I've seen a lot of people complain that this is a "carbon copy of SWAT 4".

Luckily, a carbon copy (and vastly better feeling) SWAT 4-esque title is exactly what I wanted. Any fan of the series should pick this up. The Early Access is already in a pretty solid state. I occasionally run into some low framerates here and there, some AI issues and some connection issues, but all in all it's fantastic.

Started off this game because Back 4 Blood left me wanting a game with large zombie hordes. Upon starting, I thought man, this Deacon guy looks and sounds a lot like Sam Witwer. Turns out it was, so that grabbed me.

Game absolutely exceeded my expectations, Hordes are a blast, and at the start you don't see how it's quite possible to take one on yourself. But slowly you learn, gain more skills and equipment and that goal becomes attainable. The hordes in Days Gone are some of the most exciting encounters I've played in a shooter to-date.

Story is fantastic too, as are the characters. Some dialogue quirks here and there, sometimes an NPC will call you 3 times back to back to give you updates, or Deacon will start yelling at himself when you're sneaking around an enemy camp, but hey. The gameplay and story are solid enough to look past all that. Great game, highly recommend!

[Review based entirely on Co-op]

Only played a few hours but so far it's scratching an itch I've had for years for a SWAT-Esque game. The game is a little janky, Flashbangs don't seem to work against AI but the foundation of the gunplay is fantastic. AI needs some work, and the level order for co-op seems to be a little arbitrarily ordered for difficulty. All of that said, it is a really solid title already, *especially* for the price. Looking forward to how it progresses, particularly with the co-op/PVE.

* Product received for free as a gift from my girlfriend!

As someone who has played a decent chunk of Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld, Gnomoria and other less-similar games such as Stonehearth and (loosely) Prison Architect, I absolutely love this game. What is already provided as of the first few weeks in early access is very well done. I had little trouble figuring out what was going on, besides one small thing (The research books must be kept and stored even after being 'spent').

The only thing this game needs now is further variety which if their roadmap is any indication, that will be taken care of.

My *only* gripes are;

A) Sometimes when zoomed down a level, the terrain above what you are viewing still shows up as a hazy semi-transparent image which can be considerably hard to see through.

B) There is, as far as I'm aware, no option to flip the change level down/up scroll feature. If you hold (shift? ctrl? Can't remember off the top of my head) and scroll down, your camera moves further in and into the ground. If you scroll up, it goes to the sky. I wish it was reversed, personally.

So yeah, I'd say great game thus far. If you're a fan of those other games i mentioned and don't mind that it is currently a little light on content, check it out!

Already on my third playthrough, I think this is likely one of my favourite Resident Evil games. I love the atmosphere, the characters, and it fixes my issue that I had with 7 which was lack of enemy variety.

Really, really excited for whatever comes next.

Early Access Review
Outstanding, even in Early Access.

The game has some jank, for sure. And a lot of animations and models are either in their very early stages or assets from other places.

All that said, the gameplay is fantastic, particularly with friends. The scare factor wanes after a little while, sure, but it becomes a pretty great puzzle game at that time. After 59 hours I still managed to get spooked, though.

Can't wait to see the future content the dev has planned.

On that note, something to be aware of is that the developer is a one-man operation and doesn't want to hire more help. What they've made is fantastic, but content updates will naturally likely take some time, and it could potentially be years before the game is totally finished. Keep that in mind! That said, I believe it to be worth it right now, as-is.

Dreadout is a pretty fantastic game. A bit of a budget title, sure, but the atmosphere they set up is incredible. The design of the spirits and the areas is interesting, scary and immersive, and learning the lore of all the different ghosts is fun.

I have a lot of issues playing horror games in which I'm forced to hide, not being able to fight back. I end up freezing up and can't play properly. In this game, being able to fight back with the camera, it was a lot easier for me to enjoy.

I did run into a minor bug near the end of the game where a character I was supposed to interact with was not triggering properly, so I had to restart the chapter. Other than that, solid game for a really good price.

Early Access Review
I was a bit concerned about the 3d view of this game, thought it'd feel too different from Risk of Rain 1 but I can confidently say it captures the spirit of the first game perfectly. The game feels great, looks great, the only thing is a few features are missing and the levelset is, from what I can tell, about 5-6 different maps. That said, it's early access, but it's in a fantastic state right now.

I never had the chance to play a lot of the old Resident Evil games as I never had the systems they were released on, so all of my exposure of the old titles are through these remakes.

That said, I believe this is probably one of the best 'zombie games' ever made. It definitely has the best feeling zombies I've ever experienced in a game, constantly a little off balance, small bursts of speed when they're close, always menacing you through boarded up windows. The way they move and interact with eachother, especially when falling, is extremely satisfying. Watching zombies trip over their fallen hordemates will never get old.

The other enemies in the game are fantastic as well but I hesitate to go into them in case anyone who doesn't know much about Resident Evil reads this review.

The story feels more grounded than many other Resident Evil titles. That's not to say it's a grounded story, just on a scale of 1-10 of the crazyness, it's been brought down from a series-average 9 to about a 5.

With two distinct runthroughs of the game, a couple neat extra modes, a bunch of unlockables and free DLC coming in the near future, It's a pretty solid package.

My only gripe is that while the new voice actors are very good, I still wish we had Matthew Mercer and Alyson Court back as Leon and Claire respectively.

For anyone who enjoyed Hitman 2016, this game is pretty much more of the same.

At time of writing I'm sitting at ~24 hours of gameplay using the Gold Edition early access. The new levels are interesting and varied in tone, though one thing to be said about them is that while there *are* 6 new levels, one of the levels consists of a single small house and an empty field. So, in all reality, you're getting 5 large levels and one very small one.

However, add in the legacy levels (as DLC or free for owners of the originals) and you've got a package of 11 total unique and varied stages (the legacy pack containing all the variants except the Christmas paris map).

Great value, especially for those who owned Hitman 2016.

Tl;dr: The game is more of the same, new levels, new equipment, some interesting additions like concealment in crowds and bushes and NPCs reacting to reflections in mirrors, so if you really liked Hitman 2016, grab it. If you played Hitman 2016 and didn't enjoy it, this is almost identical, so miss it.
