Better than I expected. (I knew nothing going into it, lol) It reminds me a bit of DDLC, but also the liminal spaces found within CM3D2/or the VR version of that... but in this case, it's intentional where it comes up.

There's some points where it kinda dragged on a bit to me, but not so much that I wanted to stop playing. There's also some spots that I thought were pretty neat. I was successfully jump-scared once.

I'd say more, but I'm lazy, and I don't want to spoil anything. It only took me a little over 3 hours to play through, and ran perfectly fine on my rig.

Boring main character, boring premise, and annoying "gameplay". Terminally online people will probably like it because "she's like me fr!!!!". However, I'm not pathetic enough to relate to something so shallow and meaningless.

Average food industry worker experience. Make infinite food by yourself, and if you make one mistake the guest will be pissed and storm out to leave a 1 star review online, totally killing your "vibe". But, unlike real life, the main touhou cast will reward your cooking skills, (or punish your mistakes), with their respective spell cards. That's cool, I think, (and cute too!!)

The game is simple enough, but with all of the dlc, there's more characters and recipes to juggle. The game is chill, but you do have to lock in from time to time. Fortunately, you can pause the game and/or stop time at certain instances when you're throwing food across the entire screen to serve customers. It's the most fun I've ever had with a cooking type game, and I've played quite a few back in my day.

The dlcs are worth it if you like the base game. Most dlcs add more areas, more places to gather ingredients, more characters to bond with / and get their recipes to do even more cooking. I only have 20 hours in this game, but there's still a lot more for me to do while juggling the areas I have unlocked. It's more of what you enjoy, (if you enjoy the game.)

Progression is well balanced, but doesn't allow you to just steamroll into the lategame if you already mastered the basics and want to ramp up the difficulty. Much like cooking, you can't make any shortcuts. However, I will say, I did like how the game records all of the information about the customers as you learn it and such, so that you can recall it at any point if you somehow forget if someone doesn't like food that's cheap. Trust me, this will come in handy when they request something that also has a modifier that they hate, so you can avoid getting nuked by their punishment spellcards. The game also tells you if something coming up can give you a bad ending if you fail it, which, I haven't needed yet, but it was nice that they let me know anyway.

I like this game, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to unwind after a long day with some relatively simple gameplay, cute graphics of touhou characters, and to those who cherish the american dream of owning a small business and making infinite amounts of money with your own blood, sweat, and tears.

I don't think it's worth the asking price, even if Nobeta is very cute. Buy it on sale if you can.

(This is a small indie game, and I didn't expect anything more than that.) However, these points below did take away some of my enjoyment from the game:
---The story is meh, and only starts to come together if you read through the dialogue after beating bosses in the Trial Tower and also read all of the item descriptions, that is, if you bother to find them all. The world building through all of this could have been done better. To me, it's very much "anime", but I don't think that it needs to also be generic on top of all of that. The Trial Tower lore information is nice, and shows promise in improving this area of the game.
---The enemies aren't that great. There isn't much enemy variety, and a lot of them are quite lame. Broken doll, broken doll 2, broken doll 3. Ghost. Ghost with hands. Ghost with mouth... And some are even red! Amazing, lol.
---Levels are mostly ugly and drab. It has an anime style to it, but it's nothing special. Dungeon walls, cave walls, dungeon walls with lava lighting, dark dungeon walls, dungeon walls with some grass... Areas will start to feel very samey, and even more so when you go through them again at the end of the game to close out the story.
---Boss cutscenes repeat every time you start the fight. You will soon learn why this is annoying if you don't already. You have to confirm you're skipping and then once the screen gets back to you, the boss is already beaming you in the face with an attack sometimes. (Matters less if you're a gaming god.)
---Some mechanics of the magic aren't explained well. You can cheese through the areas that are supposed to stop you until you use the mechanic correctly, so you'll never actually understand what you were supposed to learn. I personally got past one such roadblock without using the intended mechanic to pass through, so I had no idea about it until much later.
---The game is quite short. For the current asking price of $24.99, there are better games to buy.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE GOOD???? I got you:
---Fun combat mechanics. You get to snipe fools with magic and beat them up with melee attacks to fill your mana bar. You can "absorb" attacks to basically parry it and get more mana without taking damage. It's fun to try and land these. Makes me wish there were more enemies to fight!!
---Satisfying magic types. I think thunder is the best, but they're all pretty cool. The charged modes actually doing something other than "bigger damage" is very nice. I think this could be improved and fleshed out more, but I appreciate what's there.
---Cute protagonist. Cute outfits. This will heal your heart as you get beaten down by the bosses.
---Quite a few bosses. Without these, this game would be a joke, even on Advanced Mode. These guys don't show you any mercy, and will force many gamers to grind for more levels to stand a chance against them. Honestly, these things kicked my face in. I had to grind levels like I isekai'd as the "hero" with some OP skills. And even then, I tasted defeat more than I'd like to admit. (I only played on Advanced Mode, so I don't know how less of a threat they are on the lower difficulty.)
---Level layout is serviceable. Looping shortcuts, a few ambushes, and hidden treasures will be a constant. Basically, what you'd expect from a souls-like.
---Cool boss rush mode. Introduces a new twist on the old bosses, and adds more lore. I'm glad to see this included.

All in all, I hope to see a sequel to this game.

This is the tale of a resource rich, bug-infested world being graced by the indomitable human spirit.

From the great cosmos, you crash land, marking the beginning of a new age on this barren world. You will put this potential to use. You will shape this world with your own will. Machinations will beget machinations. Autonomous systems will spiral outward, covering the planet at your behest!

And the ignorant bugs will lash out, afraid of what they cannot comprehend. They will swarm you in the hundreds, the thousands, and millions! For as long as your age lasts, they will attempt to tear it down, vying to return to their grotesque, beastly lives. But we do not bend the knee to mere insects. Cut them down with iron, blast them will steel! Cleanse them of their idiocy with fire, and, if need be, crush them underfoot with an army of mechanized spiders!

Continue on like so, and perhaps you will return whence you came, back to the great cosmos: to reach greater heights still...

If you watched the trailer and are interested in this type of game, I recommend playing Valkyria Chronicles 4 over this one.

There were more moments in this game than in 4 where I said out loud, "What the ♥♥♥♥?!" when it came to the switch-ups they throw at you as mission objectives and such change on the fly. It almost reminds me of Eryi's Action in that regard, where you think that you can just win by doing X, and the game even says to do X, and doing X makes the most sense... but then 15 minutes into the turn-based mission everything you did for the sake of objective X was a lie because you didn't expect that Y was going to fly through the wall and beat your ass.

I think that's just a part of this series, and a bit of the charm too, kind of like how the Scout class is just the best class and can 1 or 2 turn most missions on its own with one unit. I personally thought the annoying parts were just worse in this game than in 4, but you might have a differing opinion. I do have to agree with other reviewers though, this series really isn't that much about strategy, and you do get punished for playing strategically, while also being rewarded for playing like a reckless fool, ordering your anime girl to run through the entire enemy army (and then win.)

But even with that being said, there's fun to be found in figuring out the solutions to the maps / missions in a sort of puzzly way.

This evil ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game has humbled me.

Every time I think that I've improved, that my gamer skills and senses have been honed to a fine edge in the gauntlet of devious spike traps and falling platforms... this game puts me in my place. Even with a checkpoint right next to the final flag, victory is farther than I could ever imagine.

With over 600+ deaths and still unable to complete this game from hell, I now yearn for the release that not even death can grant... Give me my melon back!

If you enjoy hurting yourself, this is a must buy!

I wanted to like this game, since I loved 4.1, but I couldn't get past the 3rd mission since it kept crashing for me. I have a higher end pc with everything updated, so I have no idea why it's crashing for me. After a certain point in the mission, the game just closes out, and there's no error code. Very cool!! (im not crying btw)

FPS is locked to 60 at the moment. Not a huge surprise, but still sad. The epic account linking thing is a joke, but I tried it out anyway just to see if I could have fun with the game. It would be nice if you didn't need to link it to actually play the game in online mode at all.

The developers seem to be the greatest enemy you can face in this game.
