Absolute masterpiece. THIS is how you remake a classic. SH2 has always been one of my favourite survival horror games and this remake modernises everything in the best possible way. Thank you Blooper Team. Hats off to you all. 100% GOTY

Was pretty hyped for this game - was a huge fan of Dead Space so was looking forward to what the original devs where cooking up here.

Had to refund it though so cant really recommend it. Its clear its a bad console port and lacking any FOV slider the game is too zoomed in and not pleasant to play. Maybe if they fix this I will look into purchasing in future.

Despite all the negative reviews - most of which have valid points. This is still a solid starting base for this new Battlefield entry.

I am enjoying it so far. Yes many of the features from previous Battlefields are missing and in some ways that feels like a step back. But nothing out there compares to the epic scale and battles you get in this game. Its fun as hell when playing with friends.

OK so there is a lot to like about this game. It has an interesting story and some well written characters. The gameplay is fantastic - awesome environmental destruction based physics. The graphics and setting are also noteworthy with great use of atmospheric lighting and tone.

So whats bad about it? I'm glad you asked. The boss battles in this game are some of the most tedious I have ever seen in a video game. I don't mind a challenge but the vast majority of boss encounters border on infuriatingly difficult to outright tedium. This wouldn't be an issue if the general gameplay scaled to this level of challenge but it doesn't - if anything - the general gameplay is easy. This creates a huge rift in terms of skill level from general play to boss encounters. It is jarring. One minute you feel an unstoppable bad ass - and rightly so - its fun and engaging next you encounter a boss only to be one shotted and sent back to the earliest control point - minus a percentage of your hard earned loot.

Doing this for the 10th + time on every boss really starts to wear thin and I completely lose interest in all the things that make the game great.

Therefore i wouldn't recommend this game until the game is a little more balanced out.

POST REVIEW - After completing the main campaign I discovered through a Reddit chat the game devs did include a "difficulty modifier" in the game options. This allows you to tweak various different aspects of the gameplay challenge to your liking - with this in mind I have changed my review to a positive one as I am happy they included this feature. Its a shame I didn't find this earlier - it would have helped during some of the more difficult boss encounters and would have made the game a lot less frustrating.

Would love to recommend this game - was having so much fun playing it - however there is a game breaking bug that prevents the FINAL mission from triggering - there is no fix online and the devs seem uninterested in fixing it. Check online the forums are filled with people having the same issue.

Until this is fixed DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. You will waste your time like I have.

I could write an in depth review on this game but I believe that would simply ruin the experience for anyone who hasn't played it yet.

Put simply it is a fun, thought provoking game with plenty of replay value - and that is the point. The game is meant to be replayed - over and over. I was happy to pay the sale price for it.

To get the best experience - jump straight into it without looking up any info.

Great game.

To anyone who grew up playing shooters in the 90s - when games came on floppy disks and nobody had a graphics card - this game is for you. It is a love letter to all things cool and retro. Created using the Build engine (which powered the likes of Duke Nukem 3D, Blood and Shadow Warrior) I was shocked by how far they have pushed this old engine. The level design and art style are amazing. The Midi style sound effects and music is also a nice touch.

The gameplay is also top notch - proper old school run and gun. No cover system or regenerating health - back to basics. The enemy types are nice and varied and the game offers a decent amount of challenge even on medium difficulty.

My only gripes with the game would be the lack of any exotic type weapon - all the weapons in the game have good functionality and suit their purpose but nothing really stood out as being totally bad ass - like the BFG in Doom or the Life Leach in Blood. I also wasn't a fan of those damn Spider Head things on the floor - don't mind the odd one but they were everywhere and annoying.

Apart from that I could honestly say this is the best Build engine game ever made from a technical point of view. The devs have created a marvel of a shooter - I just wish we got the same treatment on a new Duke Nukem or Blood game as I preferred the characters and story settings in those games more but this is still an absolute gem and a must by for any retro gamer.

Further update - the new expansion Aftershock is well worth playing if you enjoyed the base game. New weapons / enemies / vehicles / maps - whats not to like.

This game is a classic. If your a fan of retro shooters or just shooters in general there is a lot to like here. Challenging gameplay. A deadly arsenal of exotic weapons - each with an alternate fire mode (the first I ever remember seeing in a video game) Diverse map design and a varied selection of enemy types based off Lovecraftian lore and classic horror pop culture. Not to mention the player character Caleb - an outlaw gunslinger who is an absolute bad ass. Thank you Nightdive for bringing this game back. One of my all time favourites. Awesome.

P.s Please make Blood 3.

What a great little gem. Found this game by accident and I'm glad I did. Its a cracking throwback to the oldschool PC retro era were gameplay was simple and fun.

The game is a 2D perspective space sim/adventure game and it does an awesome job of combining the best elements of both.

There is a slight learning curve at the start when discovering the core gameplay mechanics but once you have flown around the starting system you will pick it up easily enough.

If you are a fan of space sims/RPG's/point and click adventure games or even classic 80's arcade shooters you will find something to like playing this.

I've spent a lot of hours playing this game - it has some truly awesome moments - especially when in the top ten. You get a buzz you dont get in any other game. Maybe thats why I keep coming back to it.

However I must warn you - the fustration and dissapointment far outweigh the good. For a competitive online shooter the poor netcode/server lag/dysync completely ruin the experience.

You will spend countless moments questioning what has just happened. How you got hit/how your shot didnt register etc etc. It totally breaks the game to the point I cannot recommend it.

I'm waiting on a different game from a triple A developer who can give it the justice this genre deserves... and no thats not Fortnite.
