I really wanted to enjoy this but it fell short in my eyes. I gave it 6 hours and was able to get a minor thrill a couple of times but it didn't last long. I played a TON of ToME so I probably have a pretty big bias when it comes to these types of game but I was just mostly bored throughout my playthrough. Weirdly, the thing that made me call it quits was the fact that you couldn't do the auto explore past the crates. It's the little things I guess. I also felt my stats and spells didn't mean jack crap most of the time. Pretty much just auto-attacking everything I see and maybe popping a potion on a boss here and there. I'll keep my eye out for updates though.

No way to move units/flying buildings.
Zoom out is very limited.
Finding resources is way more difficult that it should be. I've spent way to much time scrolling through the minimap, slowly looking for one of the 3 resources you need.
Towers seems to have poor LoS properties.

I really want to like this game but after a couple hours I was more annoyed than anything.

I'm trying to like this game but it's just too buggy. First I was crashing every 5 mins because the controls and key binds between keyboard and xbox 360 controllers are faulty. Now I can't edit my ship because the view panel on the top left is half way off the screen, so I can't see anything I'm doing. Save yourself some money and avoid this title. Should have never been released in a state like this. What a mess..

Ughhh.. This game is boring! If you are a competivive person that likes a challenge, this game isn't for you. There is NOTHIGN challenging about this game. Everything is done fore you. It might as well be point and click, and the narrator is predictable and annoying. Don't bother with this game. It's just so generic.

Excellent game. Tons of fun and HOURS of gameplay. Even randomized maps if you choose. Easy to pick up on. Tons of strategy. Don't hesitate to pick this up.

Early Access Review
I can't in good conscience recommend this game in its current state. I think this game has great potential, but right now, it's just not fun. I feel like I'm playing a game where gaining the best furniture is the greatest feat. Terraria was great, and this game is definetly similar in ways, but it's missing something, and I can't put my finger on it. For one, it's utterly boring and tedious to play in single player. Everyone seems to be strung up on the space exploration and new proceduraly generated worlds that are everywhere, but what they don't realize is Terraria did this too. The only difference is that in Terraria, you have to leave the game and create a new procedurally generated world through the menus screens. In this game, they give the illusion that these "worlds" are simply out there and waiting for you by bypassing the "create new world" process and putting you in a space ship to travel to these already "existing worlds". I'm sorry, but why don't people see this? It's nothing new!
I also can't come to terms with the "random" creature generation process. Every 50 feet, you come across a new enemy, which coincidentily is paired with another creature of the same make. This isn't new and innovative, it's hardcoded, select a random creature based on the world, and spawn 2 of them every 50 feet. It hurts my soul how deep people are getting sucked up by this.
Now, to say this game is bad would be silly. There are definetly good aspects of this game (in it's current state), but I think they just don't fit yet, being as it is still in an alpha or beta build. The crafting and upgrading to new tiers by killing a new boss or collecting a rare item is kind of cool, I guess, but meh, I'm not over the top in love with it. I also think progress is a bit slow, but that's just me. One thing I particullarly like is the random weapon generation functionality (kind of). It's a cool concept, but at the time being, I am hard pressed to find an upgrade to my current weapon without a crazy amount of farming.
I've got high hopes for this game once it's finished, but for now, I'd say stay away unless you'd like to be involved in the alpha/beta process. However, if you have 2+ friends to play this with at the moment, then by all means I'd say jump in. Just don't be surprised to get bored quickly if you choose to play alone.
