For a time, I really wanted to like this game.

It's not happening. Just another Quake clone but with empty servers.

It's not really like any other games out there. It's a sandbox game, sure, but the modding community of even Minecraft cannot hold a candle to the like of over 1 million workshop items. Even the fallout games and Skyrim, with impressive mod scenes like this one, still have a story for at least the base game.

This has none of that.

You're given two bare bones maps, a few enemy NPCs to shoot, and some random guns and a crowbar and told to do anything. With my 550+ hours, I still have yet to venture into the multiplayer aspect of this game (Those servers take ages to join because of downloading stuff and I don't have that kind of patience.)

You venture into the workshop and sort by the best of all time and you see stuff like gm_bigcity and nowadays South Side. You see the M9K pack and maybe a handful of TFA weapons. You screw around with these for 15 hours maybe, and then start to look for more addons, maybe play around with TDMCars, Simfphys, Photon. Branch off into ArcCW's plethora of weapon attachments. Look at more maps, like the 10,000 variants of downtown or all the modified gm_construct maps.

But this right here will only engage you for maybe 100 hours. There's one more component that makes this game gold.

Friends.

Good god, friend's make this game an 8/10 moddable sandbox game and crank that ♥♥♥♥ up to 15. For the most part I've played with one other person for 500 hours, I can only imagine what it would be like if there were more people. Deathmatch, simfphys armed tank battles, salty sniper duels, salty prop flying, salty banning radiators, salty salty, more deathmatch, scene building, Davy Crocketting said scene, salty deathmatch.

This has been with two people for 4 years, you add in two more and now you can do team deathmatch and team davy crockett volleys.

This game is a work of art with what it enables you to do. If you have friends and an urge to do some crazy warcrimes against innocent civilians and refugees, or maybe want to sound your ween with the hammer editor.

Get this game. It's 10 bucks. It's worth it.

Fun with friends. Fun to make friends. Unlimited replayability with all the combos you can make with perk decks, guns, melees, and skills.

8/10 do recommend. Don't expect it to be bug free and prepare to see the restart countdown on stealth alot.
