Though it upgrades most of the mechanics and allows for plenty of customization, it gets boring almost right away with the new combat system, which in theory looks like a good way to enrich the gameplay, but in fact it makes it more plain, as now half of the stats don't matter. Fights become longer, but only because dmg scaling is down, there are way more ways to buff/debuff everyone along with the tile effects, and it's less about just fighting the enemy
New backpack and emporium are cool and more readable feature, tho looting while using mouse only is just painful

Simple decent dungeon crawler to play while traveling
Cool that you can upload your own images to be character portraits
Not so cool that it gets repetetive pretty fast and lacks any puzzle aspects like most of the classics in the genre, but it's worth the price especially on sales

Way better than the first one but also way more rng based as your starting location can be just as random as your neighbours in the early game, not to mention the amount of new events and animal infestations across all tiles
New buildings that we can place on our own rather than having to lineary expand and reveal certain spots to not block further progress, many more gods and bonuses, piramids and other great buildings that are customisable, just more of everything in more interesting and aproachable and what most important less linear way
Also this time for people who like the real challange hardest difficulty has mummies to offer and they can make every good pharaoh sob in the corner as yet another of their empires fall to their hordes

Trivia questions outside of the game and events/trials with the historical knowledge are the cherry on top and can be a nice opening to learning about ancient egypt and surroundings

9.5/10 not enough riding on a hippo

My head hurts, but mostly thanks to terrible sfx and not difficulty of the levels
There could've been few more mechanics to mix the stuff up as last 15 levels feel like a last minut review before exam, but with 111 levels and 3 or 4 that are repetetive random ones, it can hold you for much longer than just finishing regular levels
Only other bad things aside from sfx was slight problems with inputs with faster movements and clicks which made me pretty much redo/recalculate few levels, but on the other hand more thinking isn't necessarily a bad thing

Good game with interesting story and great endings (especialy from the perspective of the Messenger player), but just OK'ish gameplay as pretty much every aspect here is pretty simple and while there are no bad mechanics, they all lack something more, more skills, buffs/debuffs, not to mention shmup parts that are present on 3 different occasions which on one hand adds variety to otherwise simple fights but on the other it just looks bizzare and doesn't really add any value

Fights are based partially around your reflexes and mostly around puzzles, as you have to figure out which locks to break in which order or how to use combos and attacks to break more of them. It's nice that swapping characters doesn't cost anything and you can move each and every one of them all the time throughout the main story, but on the other hand it slightly takes away from the whole planning your party for the encounter or preparing for specific encounter that a lot of classic JRPGs have... but I wouldn't say its a straight flaw either, I just kinda liked that aspect in other games

Side quest and "character stories" are pretty well made and even if you can finish most of them without having the campsite talk and just after get the dialogue prompting you to start it, there isn't really a thing to complain on as each of the 7 side activities is slightly different and each has its own reward, not to mention the connected reward after completing them all and unlocking the 8th side quest and somewhat emotional cutscene. The only thing to actually complain about is how true ending ends, how there is pretty big empty space for what Rash'an was doing in the meantime and while I belive it may be explained in another sequel/prequel/paraquel or w/e they come up with, I'd like to not be left on a cliffhanger for another 5 years

Leveling up is kinda funny cos it's rng based but at the same time everyone at max level which is 30 would have same stats cos you can only take each stat 5 times, but everyone knows that first dmg, than armor and by the end you are invincible anyway
Items and shopping feels lacking, but as the game is more focused on the fights and environmental puzzles, it doesn't really matter and is fine as is
Secrets doesn't really exist beside few little things (or I missed them all secret secrets)
Music and sounds which I usually don't care for, this time were a big part of why I enjoyed the game as much, some tunes from Messenger were nice touch, most of the new things fitted nicely
Graphics are 10/10, I loved each location, each pixel and every character design... beside the cartoon like cutscenes

Strong recommendation for everyone who enjoyed the The Messenger story or likes the metroidvania approach of revisiting old locations with new tools for more loot as after the true ending it's 9.5/10 imo
but for people who love the turn based combat and are looking for some challanges in this end... it's 6 at best

Beautiful game with a ton of little and huge choices, and while from perspective most of them may seem unimportand, they all have their role and are a part of bigger puzzle of decision making (which can be skipped by min-maxing early game and knowing the consequences of all actions, which still requires some skill to pull off and keep the snowaball till the end)
Every character ends up having few endings and multiple paths to them, along with some characters having effect on country itself, population or some other aspects, which is pretty cool, but they lack bigger depth and it kinda seems like end cards were added in a rush, so all the mistakes don't hit as hard and all the good things don't feel as rewarding (most of them are experienced during the game itself and dialogues so that may be part of the issue as it just repeats our actions instead of building upon them)

Mechanics, resources, management, advisors/errand boys are all pretty well made and balanced in a way, as if we choose to use resources all the time, we may lack them for some special or more costly actions and if we use our advisors, we may lack the resources and miss events that are on the map, just like if we pick our allies in certain order we may have empty storages during some events, or if we build something too soon or too late it may yield less than expected... but everything is still very simple and aproachable even for people who don't play strategy games that require excell spreadsheet

Music is very climatic and perfect... but sadly there is not much of it, which may also make the moments when it's present even more enjoyable
SFX on the other hand are mostly annoying, beside the blabbing sounds that help with narrative as they do convey some emotions, but other than that all the clicking sounds, confirmations and side notifications that each have their own effect to remind us what we lost/gained after our decision, and I mostly lost my sanity listening to them

Art and the style itself is great, there is plenty of detail, but animations could be slightly better or just few more of them and panoramas could be less... well, boring and stiff? Not sure how to call it but they both fit well with the overall simplicity of bigger scale art and look goofy with repeated animations or synchronic dances in the background, compared to rather serious tone of most of the actions it just looks bizzarre and stands out in a bad way

Can't wait for the sequel and how everything will look like there

Classic Daedalic experience gameplay wise and finally a character that doesn't talk all the time, so way better than Deponia and a step back from original E&H

Again all the puzzles and references both achievement related and outside of them were quite fun, tho some required seeing slow animations and just repeating actions rather than doing some fun secret stuff to further reference something

In general it's just Breakout with new interface and that's great as there are way less interactions made with iventory items and the world so it's way more convinient. Only real downside is music this time as it contradicts the narrator and tends to be loud when he says it was quiet or in some other way but there are just a few scenes and while I get it was most likely to set the mood for the scene and music mostly is independent of what happens throughout the game, I'd still prefer for them to be better match

Being able to talk to every object in the game is great and having deeper conversations with insane people... tho you can have that one more and more irl is still a pretty interesting thing to do

The puzzles, secrets and weird tasks for achievements, tho made in line with deranged person after many weird treatments done to her, still made more sense than in most later Daedalic works. Not to mention that she is probably most relatable and fun character of them all

The only real issue here is changing scenes and that even if you do make the "fast travel" after double clicking fast enough for it to speed it up, it still takes plenty of time and so some puzzles that require you to move through multiple scenes few times like going up and down to fix the van, which requires to hit the limo and speedrun through the asylum quite annoying... on the other hand there are like 3 or 4 situations that do drag you across bigger portions of the map and they do make for good moments to eat and drink

If only Harvey would speak up more often on his own it would be a solid 9 but I'll leave it at 8 cos of how it tries to add more serious and dark moments in "fun" way but I have mixed feelings from those and tho two ending are fine, from perspective of sequel it looses any point especially with how little the other one changes anyway as I believe they were meant to show full story and add last "fun" bit to the side characters

Simple and fun journey to the beginnings of Egypt
More of a puzzle than strategy game, and often you'll just pray to RNG gods, especially on higher difficulties, which isn't really that bad after first few (dozens) tries
The only actuall issue that I have is having to farm 1m traded resources while at most you can maybe get little below 2k a turn with a blessing if you spared all villages... so it was fun to reload the save with decent setup and just smash the next turn button (which for some reason have no shortcut like space or enter)
