After having played the first game which I loved a lot - it hurts me to say that I cannot recommend Road 96: Mile 0.

Now what's good about this game? I like the artstyle, the music is also quite good. You play two characters Kaito and Zoe but coming to characters...

Characters feel a bit empty and emphasis seems to have been put on making the player realize they're living under surveillance in a totalitarean regime. There are cameras that can see you vandalizing, but also random speaker announcements when you look for collectibles in the trash.

Compared to the first game the energy mechanic has been completely removed - you can still eat and drink though.
While that seems a bit neat, as a gameplay element it is kinda pointless now though.

I've spent a good bit with exploring every nook and cranny of the world but yeah it does feel kinda pointless and not really rewarding. Also there is a repetitive and compulsory minigame with the skating/rollerboarding that really grinded my gears after a while, just wasn't fun and appealing to me.

I played a bit over 4 hours and I have beaten the game, replayability is... slim to honestly actually more like none.

Don't recommend it, maybe on sale for ~70 - 80 % off.
