Game needs a year or 2 to cook imo, I was hoping it'd change my outlook on release today after getting hands on but it hasnt heres why below.

-Map and locations feel empty and dry
As someone with thousands of hours in games like Arma, Tarkov, DayZ the whole open fields, jungles with a few small towns and village settings have been done to death its boring

-AI are easily circumvented once you realise being behind an object kinda stops them from being anything near challenging

-Gunplay feels weird, its neither challenging nor easy just weird theres no like meat to the bones of it, the weapons sound very soft theres no like boom or that wow factor when you shoot them

-Movement is very hit and miss, sometimes its clunky and refuses to work with things like vaulting/climbing walls or moving over objects and other times it works flawlessly.

-Lack of female player models (I'm a dude but I dont get why devs arent dropping games with both options now days its weird to me) lack of character uniqueness or customisation

-Faction choice means literally NOTHING like zilch ♥♥♥♥ all. Theres no unique clothing or weapons to them so its a meaningless choice that doesnt make you think or get excited when faced with that choice.
(you also cannot switch if your friends choose the wrong one until a wipe happens so thats fun)

I did like the few quests I did and think the UI of the game is great, it ran well on my rig but ultimately thats not enough to make me want to keep my investment of time and money in the game.

Congrats to the devs on a successful launch and hopefully in a year or 2 they'll be more maps and way more depth for the game that makes me want to buy again to jump back in! As of right now though I cannot recommend the game.

[Edit] Gainjin here's how to fix your broken game
Make top tier ARB like this:

DCS:Lite
up your map size by 5x
reduce team sizes to 6-8 players per game
make them persistent matches you can hop into and put more emphasis on pve objectives
increase SL and RP rewards by 5%

wallah problem solved for players:
no more cluster balls in the middle of the map
players will take fights more seriously instead of diving for the first ♥♥♥♥♥♥ they see
people will play objectives leading to longer more rewarding and fun games

For Gaijin:
you fix top tier
people are happy
they spend more money because you made ARB fun
you profit

but I can bet you wont do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of any of this because ARB hasnt seen any good fixes in a millenia despite most people wanting this type of gameplay in ARB Top Tier.

Game is fun when you dont up-tiered or encounter the inherent ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ built into game by the devs that they think is realistic but the issue is this and the following, the devs dont want you to have fun they dont know how to balance the game, its inherently pay for convenience or suffer the most boring agonising grind you have ever done.

They have shot themselves in the foot with the latest big patch because theyre at a point where they either modernise the game add in more modern jets with missiles that actually work along with upping the scale of battles and map size so not everyone is fighting in the middle in a huge cluster ♥♥♥♥ or spamming missiles from spawn like a ♥♥♥♥♥, whilst also reworking the ui and fact you can see other players 24/7 by creating something akin to DCS but a "lite" version or they keep doing the bare minimum sucking the cash cow players that are in too deep dry until ultimately everyone hit their mental breaking point quits and the game dies like most of their other projects.

ultimately id like to see this game improve but considering the studio has barely any direct communication to players other than surveys and the occasional stream where they may or may not acknowledge your suggestion/questions I dont ever see it happening. Its a shame because it has so much potential in a market thats only other competitor is DCS which is ultimately too hard/complicated for most players to get into or learn without a month of your life and a good couple hundreds worth of equipment, Warthunder could really hit a massive influx if they realised their core issues and fixed but alas itll never happen so its impossible for me to recommend this game unless I know you have the mental fortitude of a psychologist or can afford therapy or you're a femboy or just like planes and want to throw a few weeks of your life away.

Hate sells

but on the real tho as someone with over 13-14k hours combined from multiple survival sandbox style games heres my thoughts:
Tutorial - 10/10 straight to the point

Gameplay - 7/10 needs work but good foundation things like animations could use polishing along with adding more animations for certain actions like trees falling when cut down etc just simple things, more cloth/jiggle physics for clothing, clothing items and character features would be great as they feel very static currently.

Base building - 5/10 it leaves a few things to be desired like better/smarter placement less restrictions when placing objects near eachother and more structural placing options like actual stairs instead of stair texture ramps etc

Pals - 9/10 amazing designs, funny, cute and all have varying different abilities

combat - 6/10 leaves alot to be desired combat can feel very clunky both relating to the player, NPCs and pal combat too

Ending thoughts overall its amazing to finally have a pokemonesque style game on PC and it 100% deserves the fame, hype and praise
Thankyou to the devs for bringing such a great game and I really hope you keep this game in a good state and grow it more in future it certainly deserves to be your studios hallmark product.

Game made by 4 people is better than 90% of triple A shooters out currently. It shows if you know what people want and dont let corpo greed run your studio, you can make a game that people love and cant really fault at all.

not worth the £40 at all. You get some story a new subclass and reskinned guns, you finish that and anything else of interest is timegated and its back to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ seasonal content model because the CEO decided overdelivering content is bad and stops the devs from making content when they want to, they give zero ♥♥♥♥♥ about pvp aswell.
Story: Meh
New class: hella fun
new loot: literal ass
time gated content: sucks
armor design for LF: ass
armor design for the pass: good barring the hunter cloak
oh did I mention you have to pay $40 THE DLC PRICE....TO SKIP A CHARACTER THROUGH THE STORY TO GET A CLASS????
bungie used to be an amazing company but ever since season of opulance ended, theyve managed to kill pvp, alienate 75% of their veteran players and allow casual players to harass anyone better than them because they pay for the lack luster seasonal content thats regurgitated and beaten like a dead horse every season. Save yourself the money and buy a weeks worth of food you'd get more enjoyment out of that.

This game could be something amazing if the devs go back to the original formula we loved so much and learned to deal with feedback better im hoping they see the gold mine they have here and save it, I loved this game dont want to see it continue to rot.
