Ignore the MicroTransactions stuff is its ALL attainable in game just from normal play. Yeah it is a little scumy but this is nothing do for capcom selling MTX to skip actually playing the game.

Otherwise great game. Its more of the first game with added polish.

Early Access Review
As it stands now in early access I can not recommend this game. It has a lot of neat ideas but most suffer from poor implementation. The whole thing feels thinly stretched out more so then many other survival games which already are know for having some level of grind to them.

Right now I would suggest waiting for some patches and new content before jumping in. I can see this turning into a great game. It just needs more dev time.

Here is the deal. If you played Bethesda games you know what the deal is already. This is par for the course story wise. nothing to write home about. But you never play Bethesda games for the main story. Its the side content we spend hundred of hours in Skyrim and Fallout for. And this is the same. There is SO much side stuff and it is a lot of fun. Hell you can basically ignore the main story to go be a Pirate or a Trader if you want.

All in All I've enjoyed my almost 70 hours in the game and I know I got many many more hours. And it is only going to get better when the mods drop.

Great game. Its the more of what the first game offers. Good fun combat and an enjoyable game loop that is only made better if you have two friends to co-op with.

Do you miss Diablo 1/2? Long for Titan Quest? Want to play Path of Exile but don't want to deal with the ever changing meta? Well boy do I have good news for you. Yes this game is a billion years old (in internet years) but it is just that a good replacement for all your top down action RPG needs with a crazy amount of character build options.

So far the game is great. The changes from the first game are positive. Only 16 hours in right now but I can see I'm going to be pumping a lot more hours into it.

(Updated)
Let me front load the TL;DR after 100 hours this is my take away
Yes there are bugs.
100 hours I’ve seen a few but nothing game shattering and crashed twice.
Yes if you want the game to look like the trailer you need a heavy rig.
But it looks really good on lower settings
But 100 hours in and I have gotten lost in the game it has been really fun.
Should you get it? I’d say it is worth it.

Ok more details

Bugs.
I’ve only run into a few. A couple of issues with NPCs desyncing from their props. IE NPC 3 feet away from what they are carrying. I had one quest get stuck but it was solved but loading an earlier save lucky the game has an aggressive autosave. And the game locked up twice, both times really random so no idea what triggered it. But it otherwise has been really smooth.

Graphics.

Ok I’m playing this on a RTX 3090 with an i9-9900k and 64gb ram. Game looks really good and my frames are stable. Not really seen any pop in or the such. But I’m not running it on max settings. Max settings do take a hit on the frames. It's not bad but it is noticeable. I highly suggest finding the settings that work for you that are stable and only using the higher setting when you feel in the mood for screenshots.

Game play.

It is fun. Combat is decent. AI is a bit of a mixed bag with it being cleaver at times but also sometimes being kind of dumb. I’ve had NPCs flank and sneak around behind me. But I’ve also defeated a cyberpsycho but accidentally ended up in a spot that he could not path to when he kicked me back into some crates.

I easily got side tracked. 8 hours and I somehow got sucked into side stuff and have not even gone to get the bot for the main quest. You are just wandering around and a fixer calls you so you go “sure that will be quick”. Then while doing that you hear about a crime in progress “Ok that might be fun”. So ok your back on your way … Oh Fixer again and is that a battle with NCPD and some gang? 8 hours later you're halfway across the map and got a few levels and some street cred and lots of new gear. So while you can complete the main story in 20-30 hours you really don’t have to. There is so much to do just around the corner.

(Update) So 100 hours in. Still getting side tracked and lost in the game. In a good way. I've restarted once about 40 hours in to try a diffrent build. One thing I dislike is how little your stats impact the story. There is no reason to spread your stats out. Look over the trees find the one with the playstyle you think will be fun and get that to 20 ASAP you can get there if you do all the side stuff before the heist mission. Meaning you can basicly start the main bulk of the game with access unlocked to your full perk tree. You will still need perks but its all there you can charry pick what you want frist and then fill in as you play. Is this Min/Max sure but there is no down side to this. Worried about doors being locked? Don't worry if there is no path into some place that a stat of 3 can't get into then its not mission/story crital.

Upgrades. Ive seen people complain you are always swapping gear. But I have to say the upgrade system is really solid. You can basically keep anything you like and just keep upgrading it and it will be on par with the stuff you're finding. The exception is rarity. If you have a common jacket it can be close stat wise to a rare jacket but the higher tier stuff starts to have mod slots. If you see two jackets and one is fireproof its most likely not that the second one is rare but that it has a mod installed.

Gear. There is a lot. You will always be picking up weapons and armor which is a good source of cash or parts for crafting. ABL Always Be Looting. You can sell at these drop off boxes all over the place and you can stash stuff you can't use yet back at your apartment. I do wish there was a toggle helmet option but it’s not a huge deal. Also you really don’t have to invest in tech all that much to upgrade stuff; it only really is for crafting new things and getting more from stripping old things.

(Update) after 100 hours I still agree with this. You don't even need the tech stat to keep upgrading what ever you like. Sure legendary/iconics might be better but a good Epic with the style you like will not be that much lower stat wise. And you can get by with commons even on very hard late game if you keep upgrading they will not have mods slots but while they are nice you can get by.

Story. It is really good the NPCs you interact with have character and even a simple fetch quest has enough flavor to it to make it interesting. I suggest doing side stuff some of it is actually a big deal and you're not going to get a go get 6 rat tails or kill 12 punks sort of missions. While the side stuff does not all have a story to it a lot of it does and you will be surprised how much there is to do here and how when you don’t always go in guns blazing there are cool ways to complete some of this stuff.

(Update) after 100 hours I do have to say. DO YOUR SIDE MISSIONS really most of the best story stuff is in the side mission. And its all fun. The only part I've found repetive is the Crime in progress which is often just a handful of random guys standing around.

Graphics. Ok let us take this for what it is. If you want to run with RT on MAX settings it is going to be rough. But you really don’t need RT to make this game look good. Also in some ways this is the Cryis of 2020 it clearly was built for PCs that don’t exist yet. I saved up and spent the last year upgrading for this game and it paid off. I can push some impressive settings. But I did check out how it looks on lower settings and it looks really good on the lower levels and you can save a ton of FPS drop just by not running RT. High without RT looks leagues better then Low with RT and you will get a smoothing play with the first option. I did have some minor graphic issues. But it was all really minor, mostly just a weird thing where sometimes people were missing some of their clothes for a few seconds or their props were a couple of feet away just floating. But it always seemed to self correct in a few moments.

AI. Ok so it is not bad. The AI is kind of smart. I'm running the game in Normal difficulty and I’ve had people flank me or sneak up behind me more than a few times. But I’ve also seen some pathing issues where the NPCs don’t seem to understand how to close the distance on me. The worst so far I want to say was a bug where a cyberpsycho kicked me up on some crates and then just gave up. He stood there not sure what to do while I put my ammo into his face. But these are all rare and over all the combat has been really fun.

Overall.

I’d say yes this is a good game to get and most likely will be even better in 6 months after patches have rolled in. But I do say if you have a low end system and are still using a 1000 series Nvidia card you are going to have to run this on low to medium settings to get good FPS. And even the 2000 cards I would suggest skipping the ray tracing. In 8 years when skyrim is ported to your microwave Cyberpunk 2077 will probably run on your toaster with max settings. But for now this game is very demanding if you're looking for trailer level graphics while playing.

(Update) Still feel this way. The game needs to be patched but at least on PC its running well enough and has been fairly bug free to me.
