This game thrives on snappy, responsive gameplay—no sluggish, bloated animations like so many modern titles.

The PS1 aesthetic—low-poly, jagged edges, heavy dithering—captures Soul Reaver’s gothic vibe with vibrant, saturated palettes. The furry bait isn’t my thing, but the designs are undeniably adorable nevertheless.

I hope that the developers see it through and add more content. It would be a real shame to see it abandoned by wealthy developers like some of the other runaway successes on Early Access.

• Most of the puzzles are well-designed.
• The meta-puzzles are very clever and the most fun.
• The music is good.

• The story is clumsily written and not engaging.
• A small handful of the puzzles are janky, buggy, or rely on scavenge-hunting.
• Some of the puzzles are just variants of previous puzzles.

• Front-loads the most interesting puzzles in the first two areas of the game.
• The game likes to waste your time with loading screens, back-tracking, missable achievements.
• The engine and graphics have not aged gracefully.

PlayStation hates making their customers happy and now they've turned their attention towards this game too.

Have some self-respect and buy from a game publisher that doesn't actively enjoy antagonizing their customer base.

It has it's flaws, but the reason I prefer this over Mahjong Soul is because it actually models the tile wall on the game board.
I would not use this to learn Riichi Mahjong as the instructions are very poor.

The ranked mode has some serious issues and isn't very fair. The way Riichi Mahjong works it really should not derank you unless you come in last...

This game is best played in private lobbies with friends - I can recommend it for that, but do not Ranked queue and expect a good time.

Long-story short: Do Not buy.

The people who originally made the game have been pushed-out and replaced by new artists. They have censored and sanitized the artwork - the gameplay has been severely degraded as well.

Even if the changes do not bother you, the legalistic and underhanded way that this IP was stolen from the creators is disgusting.

I remember long ago in my childhood stumbling on this website called "Newgrounds".
It's light-hearted irreverence and sanguineous humor defined a rather sizable portion of internet culture in the early-and-mid aughts. When the norms in digital society was not dictated by the whims of any mentally-deranged fool with a cellphone.

This game captures the essence of that time. It feels real, authentic and sincere.

Dark themes presented in the least-depressing way possible.

I liked the music. It fits the game nicely. It's bright and poppy.

Adobe Flash style. Low on color, but fits the tone of the story. There's several of hand-drawn storyboard pictures in just about every single scene.

Painful at times, but if you have a heart, if you're human, you won't regret this...

The developers have outdone themselves with this remake. The game feels smoother, more responsive, and just overall nicer to play. The sprite-work is incredible in this version and so many little expressive details have been added. Truly a labor of love.

Fantastic new additions are littered throughout this release, but without compromising in any way the original experience. The original game is very special to me, and I don't know if I'll ever go back.


If you've never played Pocket Mirror and you enjoy story-rich games with fantastic soundtracks, do yourself a favor and try it. You'll be very glad you did.
