Significantly better than the MMO version. Find a custom server that lets you unlock all the skills, has faster progression, and is slightly populated; makes the game awesome.

You can actually build up a settlement yourself relatively quickly while still trading and fighting with others, unlike in the MMO.

This is what the MMO wished it was; we're just missing the climbing update, alternative skill progression, and inventory management of the MMO. Hopefully the Devs will release tool kits for modders and import the climbing and inventory management over from MMO, if they did that I'd definitely drop some money on cosmetics to support this version.

Starts slow but it's extremely unique and fun. You're basically Sam and Dean Winchester, before it got weird.

If you're still only fighting spiders you're basically in the tutorial; it gets rough after you unlock hunting and gear yourself up some. The game has way better enemy variety than just spiders and millipedes, it just warms you up before throwing you into it.

Well worth the investment to support the devs so they can continue adding to this awesome game; it's extremely unique, you actually feel like a hunter from the "Supernatural" universe and its only going to get better.

Had this for years and gave it a try now that they added vehicles and redid the graphics; this game is awesome. It's like playing an episode of the Walking Dead, minus the 40 mins of soap opera drama.

Game becomes unplayable quickly; factions don't fight as advertised, trade freezes, and sweeping changes to gameplay have happened because game was released with bugs that added entire functions to the game the devs never intended.

For example, used to be able to teleport to any station once the technology was unlocked or issue autotrade commands to ships from the context menu; both have been locked now behind grinding faction rep and grinding pilot skills.

Pilot skills btw seemingly NEVER increase, you have to just keep recruiting new pilots and hope RNG gives you a useable one (also you can't just recruit pilots, you have to buy a ship then sell it and repeat).

It might be great later and of course unlike Star Citizen this game actually did release; it's just missing the functionality of so many of its core gameplay systems it's better to wait for them to patch it up.

I've tried to play this game since December 2018; in that time I've hammered clay into ovens one by one to level skills, then with the new update I've checked my characters every 20-40 mins to change out fishing poles to afk fish for experience. I have more hours in this game than any in my library but I have yet to "play" the game, it's all time spent grinding.

This game is not fun.

No its not even that the grinding isn't fun, the game itself is just not fun. It is a very cool concept but it comes down to guilds wanting you to play the game like it's a PRIMARY job (not secondary, if RL comes first you'll likely be kicked).

The game world is huge, it takes about 8 hours RL to run across the map in a straight line; much longer given terrain and obstacles. I mention this because to craft higher tier items and buildings you need regional resources; like a door made on the other side of the map. Trade posts have been broken since the update so instant trade is impossible; which means you have to run across the map for multiple RL hours to get an item to craft something.

Where is the fun? Combat? If you're American expect 200-300 ping at all times since the server is located in the EU; this translates to a .2 or .3 second delay in all actions. Not only is that terrible during combat but it's beyond frustrating when any action you do in game causes your screen to jerk back and your character to rubberband out of control for a moment. The game was already poorly optimized but now it's worse with perma-lag.

Since I bought the game late, I also didn't realize the armor skins they sell were supposed to be upgrades that should have been implemented in-game for free to replace the "lego" like armor textures they have. Now it costs upwards of over 100$ for one set of armor skins unless you get them on sale. Again, it's a problem because it was supposed to have been an upgrade to the game and not something in the cash shop. The armor textures are the worst I've ever seen in a game, they're comparable to N64 graphics.

In conclusion, you will grind and grind hoping that you will "unlock" skills to finally have fun; you will sadly never find it. It's a great concept but greedily and lazily executed.

Be infantryman, serve in an elite Recon unit in Afghanistan, wreck tusken raiders; come home, play Insurgency, see females as infantrymen in-game, play as Taliban, save dudes from carrying the females rucks and paying child support.

10/10 for dropping some dependa's

Running with 60+ fps on a laptop with a 1080, no crashes and not even installed on my SSD. I love the game; just writing a quick review to let people know it's not horribly unoptimized.
