A bog-standard MMORPG with modern gacha game staples tacked on, minus the gacha (so far).
Floating pseudo-mascot that follows you everywhere, feeding equipment into other equipment, specific day weekly and daily upgrade material grinding, full release with limited story content (must wait x days before more story missions unlock kinda vibe), and more.
Story and cutscenes are almost like a "We have Dragon's Dogma at home" (just go play Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen).

I went around and explored the ENTIRE (currently available map) at level 11 and died... once? maybe twice? to get the waypoints, except for one single island in the bottom right of the map that has a magical barrier around it. The northern half of the map also has a big magical barrier blocking it off, which I have to imagine is just undeveloped but planned at the moment since the map does show it, and it has roads mapped out, but there are no markers or anything up there.

It's a good game.
I hope Cygames continues making more non-mobile games.
Maybe with stuff like World Flipper and/or Dragalia Lost.
Characters and writing weren't always perfect, but overall the game was still good.

Think the only thing I really didn't care for were invincibility phases on bosses that just added unnecessary time to running through them (didn't even have to kill other enemies to deactivate the barrier or anything, they're just invincible through certain scripted sequences of their fights).

Also it would've been cool to run through more of the game with friends outside of just Monster Hunter arena-style boss fights, but the fact they had that at all was still neat.

Early Access Review
Start the tutorial, get ~40-70 FPS. Open the menu with Esc, goes to 20 FPS. Open the Settings, from the Esc menu and it goes to 5 FPS???
Also seems to drop down to 20 FPS or so to 70 FPS or so back on the main menu going from the main page of a hero to their ability page.
Bro, what is this?

It's still a good game, regardless of the recent change.
Just link your Playstation Network account, if you don't have one you can make one.
It's not like they're asking you to subscribe to Playstation Plus.

I just did it the first time it popped up when I originally started the game.

It's a good game.
I hope they make more.
And I also hope they continue to revive their other old IPs.
Echo Nights and King's Field could go hard.

It's definitely not what I expected. I was expecting it to be more along the lines of Elden Ring. Personally I was not a fan of the Umbral mechanic(s), I would have preferred they just used that artstyle for its own areas along the line of the Scarlet stuff in Elden Ring rather than just doubling up every area with an alternate dimension or whatever. The co-op is probably some of the best you'll get in a Souls-like, but there were still major issues with it if you're playing it mostly/specifically for co-op such as being unable to access boss weapons and upgrades like runes until you've done all that in your own world - which isn't going to do much good if you're just playing as a second in a co-op playthrough.

It's still fine.
