Sonic Generations is fantastic, as expected. the new control mapping is a bit strange, but nothing too bad. Shadow Generations is pretty good, except for the difficulty spike in "S" rank requirements after the 2nd boss and the fact that an "S" rank now has a time requirement instead of being an automatic upgrade from the previous rank as long as you didnt lose a life. the worst part of Shadow Generations is the squid thing. whoever approved of that control scheme and overall physics needs to re-learn what makes games fun, because it sure aint that, and i truly hate it

Sonic is back! After Forces, I was worried that we wouldn't get another fantastic Sonic game for a long time. Granted, 5 years is still a while, but this is that fantastic game. Basically everything that needed improving in Forces has been done. Great story, solid gameplay, minimal bugs.
In some of the standard levels, it is worth noting that a fair few are ripped straight out of Generations, object layout and all, but there are original levels too. 2D sections are back as well, but they're used where it makes sense to do so, and they feel like the Colors/Unleashed/Generations ones, so I'm not complaining.
There's minibosses in the open world which are fun to fight and have great music, especially one that's in the final map but i'm not going to spoil it. Speaking of music, the soundtrack is truly great, as is standard for the Sonic games, and there's none of that harsh synth or weird Genesis-like music here, thank goodness.
About the open world itself, there are multiple maps with a bunch of neat little mini missions or puzzles to do, and they're all quite fun. People may compare it to Breath of the Wild, but the only similarity is really the open world part itself, otherwise it does it's own thing.
Enemies are new and unique, in fact, I think there are only 5 returning enemies, and they're only found in some of the regular levels. Everything else is new, and that's for good reason. There's proper combat now, similar to Sonic Heroes or 06, but the combat system is completely different from those games. The new enemies use that new combat system very well, while the returning ones are the standard one hit to kill.
I'm excited to see what the modding scene will do, as there's a lot of cool objects that can be used.

Was never an incredible fan due to some unpatched stuff, but this "security" update is the straw that broke the camel's back
Unless they undo it and fix actual issues, i'm never installing this game again
what a shame, really

NOTE: I have not completed the game yet, but i will be posting and updating it through my play time!

Current time: 2.1 hours played
----General----
Right off the bat, I can say this game is tons of fun. The writing is great as well, which is to be expected of a Valve game, really.

----Graphics----
The graphics are fantastic, everything from particles and how they act, to how reflective certain materials are, and even though the game is in Source 2, it still uses pre-captured cubemap reflections, but you will hardly ever, if at all, notice this. Xen biomass stuff truly looks creepy and alien, as it should. One thing I did notice, and this is more of a nit-pick than anything, is that puddles don't react to anything at all.

----Controls----
On to controls, I think they did well, but there could be some improvements. The most notable one is that you get ammo from over your shoulder, instead of how it's from a container or pouch like in Pavlov VR or Boneworks, which is weird to say the least. There's also the matter of weapon selection, which is done from a menu. I understand they wanted to make weapon selection quick, but a VR game isn't really the place for a menu-based weapon selector. Again, Pavlov VR and Boneworks did this great, with areas on your player that you store weapons.

----Combat----
Combat in this game is very fun. There's not much more satisfying than blasting a headcrab into bits with a shotgun, even the armored ones. However, this comes at a disadvantage, which is that melee combat is non-existent outside of tossing objects at enemies to stun them for a second or two, which is extremely unfortunate. I tried to beat a Zombie with a metal pipe only to get damaged and have the pipe thrown from my hands.

----Animations and Voice Acting----
The animations are astounding and fluid, it feels like you're with other living things, and headcrabs no longer magically always land on their claws, but if they hit something while jumping, they ragdoll and fall over. The voice acting is really good, too, even if Eli is voiced by someone different now that Robert Guillaume is deceased.

----Enemies----
I haven't played too much into the game I don't think, but there have been some neat enemies, from your classic Zombies (which still toss objects at you) and Headcrabs, to a new type of Headcrab that has armor on it's back, which resists pistol rounds, but not shotgun ones. Existing enemies have gotten some new details, too. For example, Barnacles are less picky about what they eat, it seems that as long as it's from something living, even a skull, they'll eat it, but not bigger objects or non-organic ones like barrels and bricks. As mentioned before, Headcrabs now ragdoll if they hit something mid-jump.

----Weapons----
If the achievements are anything to go by, it seems there's not too many weapons, but there is a pistol, a shotgun, and an smg, which I have yet to get. The pistol has abundant ammo, but takes a few shots to kill anything, where the shotgun has more rare ammo, but will seemingly one-shot any enemy i've found so far.

----Objects and Environment----
Like the Source Engine is known for, physics are on a lot of objects, but don't expect interactivity like in Boneworks where you can topple shelves, there are still some objects that you cannot move, such as shelves. The physics themselves are very nice and realistic, you can even crush cans if you grip your Index controller hard enough. The environments feel very real, like they could exist, however, there are some invisible walls, which goes against what the Half-Life series is about.

----Tutorials----
Unfortunately, the game does have tutorials, saying things like "Grab the ladder to climb" or repeating what a character just said, but not everything is explained. Some things are left to the player to find out, like shooting red canisters makes them explode. Still, it has tutorials, which is another thing Half-Life, up to this point, was good at telling players what's what without.

----Sounds----
The sounds are fantastic. Different environments and rooms have different amounts of reverb or echo that affects sounds, and for physics object especially, it really sounds like you're bashing your gun against a barrel or something. Some classic HL2 sounds also make a return, like the "cannot use" sound when you run out of ammo in your backpack for a weapon, or the sounds of Scanners and Zombies

----Details----
This game is not shy on details, from Barnacles taking a helmet if you're wearing one instead of damaging you, to the subtle movements of Xen biomass, you will notice little details everywhere, like an ammo crate exploding with packing peanuts when broken, which don't disappear after a little, but stay around.

----Final Score----
I haven't completed the game, so I don't feel right giving it a score just yet, but I definitely do recommend it to anyone who likes the Half-Life games and also likes VR.

Pros:
+Well done sprites and music
+Interesting story and characters
+Unique enemies unlike any i've seen before
+Bosses are also very creative
+Anthropomorphic animals (ok maybe i'm a bit biased on this one)
+The True Ending is really touching

Cons:
-Controls and hitboxes can be weird at times, only made worse by the fact that everything is locked to a grid and you cannot cancel a move
-The difficulty will take a massive spike if you go off the "right" path

Information:
Every single enemy that is not a scripted event is a one-hit game over, and scripted events require key/button mashing or you get a game over
This game is VERY hard, it will make you frustrated at times and you'll need to take short breaks to recover, the difficulty curve is a straight line right at the top
The enemies, obstacles, friendlies, are all centered around latex, and any time you "die", you either get absorbed by the enemy or experience "transfurmation" into a clone of the enemy that attacked you
Save points are helpfully placed, but sometimes it's far enough away for you to not want to risk or explore anything
You can only save at pre-determined points and not wherever you like, which may seem like a negative, but it's to prevent being able to break some parts of the game I imagine
Some transfurmations will have sequences after or while they happen
Admittedly, it is pretty fetish-y, and does nothing to hide it

Overall, I do recommend this game, but keep in mind it's very hard, some things in it can be weird at times, including the controls

If you have the money, definitely get this game, it's worth every single cent

Other notes:
The True Ending is very hard and frustrating, but in the end, it's really wonderful and touching, i'm not going to lie, i cried a bit from joy too
