Far Harbor is the best dlc for fallout 4, the main storyline in this dlc proves that bethesda is capable to make a quest with multiple choices and consiquences. The island itself is eerily epic and has a ton of content on its own, very detailed and many new npcs to interact with (npcs of which are probably better than base game, except for companions).

I myself wouldnt recommend you to buy it alone though, buy the season pass instead, all the dlcs are worth owning in my oppinion and its better to get season pass instead.

Invisible walls literally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everywhere, teammates that scream at you for not throwing a grenade, north korea invaded america (WHAT), guns feel generic, animations are mostly bad, dumb ai, story characters are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid and are so unlovable, """""""""""stealth""""""""""" missions ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck ass and makes no sense at all, checkpoints are to far between so if you die to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you will have to play 2 minutes again for no reason. The game just generally makes literally no sense, there was this one mission where a shopping mall was buring to the ground and there were soldier in it as if nothing is happening, there is literally no oxygen in a buring building and when we got out of the building the characters started choking because of a lack of oxygen, WHAT!??!?!?!??!??!?!??!?!??!?

DONT BUY THIS, I GOT THIS FOR FREE, I WANT A REFUND PLEASE.

(note this is single player experience and not multiplayer)

I actually liked this dlc, i would pay for it, its not like the other workshop dlcs that literally only adds new things to build (and the taming thing) that i think should have been in the base game to begin with, but this, this is actually dlc in my eyes.

So you basically become an overseer of a vault in this dlc, and you...well...get to build a vault, they are also experiments that you can run, these experiments have consequences how ever, if you choose the "evil" way/the intended way the settlers/dwellers will sometimes die from the things you have made for them, example the power cycle. But i sort of feel like the engine is holding the potential back.

I have played fallout shelter probably most out of any "mobile" game (in my oppinion mobile games suck, so i dont play them) I have probably spent well over 100 hours in fallout shelter. In that game the limit of dwellers is 200, here, its the standard 30, and if you go beyond that with mods the game will lag to no end, i run a gtx 1060 and an i5 6400 (4 cores) and my game still lags, i think the settlement system should have been tweaked for this dlc, but they didnt change it, the vault sort of feels lame with only 30 dwellers (deppending on your charisma)

But if you're buying this purely for the building material n stuff, just don't. its mostly just for the vault i like it, i mean, building a vault? How badass isnt that?

"Remember Red Orchestra 2?

Thats this game, except everything that made red orchestra 2 fun is ripped away or dumbed down." - Me everytime i play this game.

*very long rant incomming*

Lets begin with balance. So the game is vietnam era, this means that 96% of all soldiers have automatic weapons. Automatic weapons in a realistic game like this, not a good idea, then you may ask, wouldnt it make sense if they changed the damage model to compensate for everyone having automatic weapons? Yes it would, did they do it? Eh kinda, not in a way that i find fun since if you shoot a gun once or twice with the 5.56 or even the 7.62 they wont die most of the times, thats just frustrating since the recoil on the guns are "realistic". I think any "realistic" game with realistic damage models should not allow everyone single soldier to have them. Well you may say, if everyone can have automatic weapons, shouldnt the recoil be balanced to compensate? Yes you're right and they are, but the problem is that you can change to single fire on every weapon. So now everyone has their own little semi automatic weapon with close to no recoil compared to the fully automatic version.

The maps. Hale♥♥♥♥ingluia the maps, its almost like everything that made the red orchestra 2 maps so good is just not there, at all. or well the maps wouldnt be so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible if they added the old spawning system, the nva side has to rely on the squad leader placing a squad tunnel for everyone in the squad to spawn on, on some maps this isnt on problem, but on most maps its about the most broken thing ever. I remember once on hill 937 where my squad leader and some other squald leaders placed their tunnles like 40-50 meters away from the objective where the allied team could not go (this was on defense) This shortened the walking distance for the squad by about 200 meters (im making that up in my head but i think its accurate) and it saves them so much time in the long run, and they wont have to walk in a completely explosed field (i'll mention those again later). So why is this a problem? Because the allies have to take that objective, all the squads can just place the tunnels back there and spawn like 10 players at once, its just almost impossible to hold off that since the players that spawn in can just throw 20 grenades in there, and since there is no building there, its just some trences, they can really fight them off without dying like 1000 times. I just think tunnel system is boring and did i also mention THAT I CAN GET BLOWN UP BY ARTILLERY? You might say, well a squad leader can also get blown up right? Yes, but alteast a squad leader can stay inside a building and the hill 937 example i just spoke about means that they will have one more player if the allied team would do the same thing.

So open fields that i mentioned, Cu Chi is one of those maps that literally everyone plays even though the whole thing is an open field. Now open fields wouldnt be a problem if there was trenches and stuff all over the place right? One of the red orchestra 2's maps was just a big open field, but that map had trenches and holes you can take cover in, but this one just does not at least it doesnt have enough to compensate for the slow movement speed this game has compared to the old one, oh and while we're on movement and how it feels, it feels floaty as ♥♥♥♥, i can't understand how the devs looked at red orchestra's 2 movement and said: hey this is great and all but how about we remove the view bobbing and then remove the old running animations, make the running animation cover up 2/3rd of your screen and then call it a day. Like seriously, i cant get over why they would completely throw out the old running animations, and also make the gun cover half of your screen, maybe im overexaggerating here but still, the animations are just UGH. The old game had different running animations to tell friend from foe, this one does too, but not the first person animation, the first person animation is same on both teams, WHY? There is no reason for them to do this, at all. ok back to maps i guess, so like i said, the game has close to no cover and you constantly have to rely on people throwing smoke, especially on the attacking side, now, granted you did have to rely on your squad leader to throw smoke back the old game too, it was give to the squad leader so it would be easier for them to coordinate an attack, but in this game you dont ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ get a smoke grenade as the leader, some other class gets that, so now when you sit there with half your squad ready to attack you have to wait for someone to throw smoke, chances are that they will not, chances are that they will peak their head and get shot next to the 36 dead teamates who did the same thing.

Also something to note is the fact that on some maps the US side has helicopters that players can spawn in, like, what. How is this balanced, so now the US side can fly across the map in the time that it takes for a NVA to walk 100 meters. This. Is. Not. Balance. Also, some objectives are just so far apart there is no point in walking to them since you will get killed by some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lying in a who has camped the whole round. Oh and did i mention how much this game encourages camping? Granted, the old game did too, but this game just something else compared to the old one, i cant really put my finger on it, but it just feels cheap when you walked 300 meters and then get killed by the sniper 100 meters away sitting in a bush just farming kills and not focusing on the objective.

Ok so sound design, well, its not horrible to say the least, the only thing that is horrible is most of the guns sounds, most of them just sound so damn unsattisfying compared to the old game, i dont really know why, it might just be me. But the voice actors, oh. my. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. god. The voice actors, are just not up for the task. Remember in the old game where if you shot a russian in the gut he would drop his weapon and cry for his mother? THERE IS NON OF THAT IN THIS GAME. The voice actors for the americans are just the worst, they almost sound like the ones in rising storm 1 too (might be the same one) But it has been dumbed down to the most basic of basic and doesn't show how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brutal war is through the voices of the soldiers (like in red orchestra 2 and rising storm 1). I can recall many times i just got frustrated over how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible it is, i played about an hour before this review and i played a game where a teamate died about 15 meters away from me, i could hear him gagging (this was the first time in about 16 hours i heard this line), but there was a problem, instead of sounding like 15 meters away it sounded like it was right next to my ear. Also another time i could recall my soldier almost getting killed while being supressed and the ONLY THING MY SOLDIER HAD TO SAY WAS: Shesh, that was close. In a goofy voice, LIKE WHAT????!?!?!??! You were just about to get killed and all you have to say IS THAT? WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ ARE YOU HIGH OR SOMETHING? And im not just bashing the american side, the NVA side has bad voice acting to, or well i wouldnt say bad voice acting, it just doesnt sound like they are in war zone and they dont have panic in their voice, im not sure if the language is spoken that way, but there is about 2-3 lines that sounds like their life is being at steak and they are under alot of panic/stress. and the announcer voice, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, its about the most unsattisfying thing ever, i just turned it off after the first round i played during the beta.

So i have reached the limit of characters i can type for the review lol

Should you buy it? No.

Should you play it if you get the chance? Yes, maybe the things ive said about the game is because i think the previous game was better. Intill the maps are fixed and they add a realism mode, im not playing this again.

There is no doubt that this dlc clearly shows the thought put in to the combat, i love it. If you just want to shoot Sh*t this is the dlc for you. But as someone who is a completionist, i want to complete everything there is in a game before i move on (most of the time). I find this dlc frustrating because there are these challanges thrown in too. Now you might ask: Well whats the problem with a few challanges?

Well... many of them are tedious and so hard you almost cant belive they exist, its as if they were thrown in only to keep people playing this for years, i mean most of them are fine i guess, it can be anything from kill all the enemies with shotgun only to kill all enemies with vigors only. But its when they put in challanges that would make any sane human want to break something. I remember one of them, it was something like: Kill a handyman with a tesla coil. All seems fine and dandy right? Except that handymen will hide when their health is low so its almost impossible. Or i remember once when the challange was to kill all enemies with a sniper rifle while zoomed in, simple enough right? but then the dumb ass ai will jump off the map and kill themselves. It will take you several tries just to pull some of these off. You might ask now: How is this a problem when you can just restart the level? Weeeell thats the problem, each map has 15 levels and if you fail on the 14th one, you have to replay EVERYTHING, thats right. You cant restart each level you have to restart it ALL. The challanges wouldnt be a problem if you could restart each level how you want, but you cant.

So would i recommend it? Yes, but only if you dont care about achievements and stuff like that. Fun as hell to just shoot the sh*t out of stuff in this game.

Feels good to play a half life game again, it was a little bit short but it brought some new things to the table that has not been in half life before, i enjoyed pretty much everything about it. Like i said, it was one too many minutes short, maybe if it was longer it would get boring, im not sure.

I'd say i had fun playing it. 9/10

Should valve hire this guy to work on the next half life? eh, possibly, but considering how valve hardly hires anyone to work on games these days its hard to belive it will ever be a reality.

Really a one of a kind, i can't think of any other game like arma 3, unless you mention the prequals. One of the best sandbox games ever created with its editor and damn near flawless graphics and sound engine. The only thing that is "Bad" about this game is that its VERY poorly optimized, I run my game on a i5 6400 (i know not a very good cpu, and this game is cpu heavy) and a 1060 on a hdd and i can bearly fly past cities without freezing for a second or two, the multiplayer is ever worse, can bearly git 40 fps when there are 30+ on the server.

I LOVED the first map you get to try before buying the dlc, I must have played it over 100 times. When the summer sale rolled out i decided to get it, if the maps in the actuall dlc id play this till i die.

Ok lets start off why i gave this a negative raiting: Pretty much ALL the maps are WAY WAY WAY too long and confusing for any sane human to ever repeat them and get a record, i mean it can take up to like 3 minutes to complete some of the, and if you f*** up you will probably have to restart because you want to set a new record every time. No human has that much time, not even me. Its SOOOO frustrating to crash to some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ turn you had no controll over. The reason the first map is good is because its easy to learn and takes avarage 20 seconds to drive, but the maps in the actuall dlc takes like 10 times longer to drive, it just does not work unless you have tolerance like a damn troll.

Don't buy please, if you are insiting on buying then buy it on the sale.
