This game is truly a testament to what it was like growing up in the early 2000s with nothing more than a family computer.

100 HOUR EDIT: The plot really starts picking up around this time. While I still have yet to feel that I've reached the story's climax, I do think that good things are in store. Most definitely never reached this point as a child. Will update as things get better.

250 HOUR EDIT: I can NOT believe that the aliens did that!!!! You absolutely HAVE to play this game until this point. It's a bit slow to get to the 100 hour point, but things most definitely pick up after that, and the following 150 hours are utterly irreplaceable. Truly a perfect game. I will never regret my time spent on this so far.

500 HOUR EDIT: I recently noticed that my performance in game was slowly degrading. Hopefully the RTX 3080 I bought for this game will make it run at a buttery smooth 60 frames again. The plot has picked up tremendously, but I can most definitely tell that it has more in store if I just keep at it. No spoilers, but I absolutely did NOT think that the mermaid would do THAT. Definitely earns the certified M rating from me.

1000 HOUR EDIT: My girlfriend has left me and I have been fired from my job. This game has utterly taken over my life and I cannot stop playing it. The fish VS alien race war is well underway and there is no current clear winner. Both sides are taking extreme losses. I am stuck in the middle of this conflict. If I do not play the game, the fish will lose, but if I keep playing this game my entire life will be forfeit to the mermaid. SHE IS A LIE. I will keep you updated. This game is better than any other I have ever played and is entirely worth my life falling apart.

1800 HOUR EDIT: This game is an addiction. For nearly a year, I was able to put it away and not think about the world of my aquarium. In a single moment of weakness, I noticed that the screensaver to my epic gamer PC was my aquarium of which I poured over 1000 hours into... and I broke. For days now, I have done nothing but play this game. I've been fired from my job and my boyfriend has left me. In a single moment, this life I had built up has been completely ruined. This 2001 game of the year continues to light up my life and be the only reason that I continue to wake up each morning. I've finally gotten to the end of the Guppy story ark. I shudder thinking of what is to come.

2500 HOUR EDIT: I don't know how Guppy appeared on my profile, but he did. I'm deep within the trenches of the Third Alien War, slowly carrying my fish friends to victory. My car has had a check engine light for weeks, but that's okay because I only leave my house to get food, as I still have yet to find another job. Rent is multiple months past due, but that's okay because I have squatter's rights. Genuinely, nothing interesting has been happening in-game, but I have unlocked the secret FPS minigame, which is how I have been ridding my aquariums of the alien forces. Life without this game is not a life I wish to live.
