Berseria is a game that has strong character development and group dynamic as it's primary focus. All of the characters feel unique in their own way and they act to contrast one another in a meaningful way as to create an eclectic but interesting mix of personalities. Big thing however is that characters grow and change over the course of the game, they're not static individuals. The main character probably goes through the most development as she's broken down and built up a couple different times over the course of the game's events. Story-wise it's fairly solid, not the most original but well executed and delivered for the most part. Early parts of the story are probably the weakest due to the protagonist's brooding nature and there being a sizable time skip between where she starts in the prologue and where she is in the current day three years later. She develops and comes to terms with what happened to her over the course of the game, but it can sometimes be a bit eye-rolling. This changes as you meet other characters and they start to influence the protagonist in various ways. Weakest part of the game is probably the protagonist's outfit, as ridiculous as that sounds.

Pros:
Strong varied characters who grow over the course of the game.
Solid story delivered in an appealing way.
The protagonist's a darker shade of grey, but manages to deliver it in a believable way that makes her quite appealing.
The antagonist's goals are reasonable and believable, not just done to push the narrative.
Each character has a build-your-own-combo system, letting you experiment with characters in different ways.
♥♥♥♥ system is a convenient way to show how characters interact with each other.

Cons:
Protagonist's outfit's a bit silly and doesn't fit the character.
The time skip early in the game from the prologue to the protagonist's current self is a bit rushed and could've been developed further.
Characters move too slowly, both in combat and in the environments.
Level design is primitive and could be more inspired.
Combat system is momentum based, if you're doing well you continue to do well, if you do poorly you continue to do poorly.
Upgrade system is over-costed and far too random.
Too many side quests activate just before the final boss, even ones that aren't relevant anymore.
Ending can be a bit of a downer.
