half life meets survival horror. for a beta i've gotten my money's worth and can tell the amount of love and polish that went into this. also despite being early access, it seems surprisingly polished. any bugs i noticed were either patched out or swatted by my weapon in game. in terms of difficulty, it seemed fairly balanced in all things for multiplayer with it being slightly easier solo(friendly fire + food management). if you're playing alone or with friends, i'd recommend it now. it plays better than some finished products out there.

i initially came into this game expecting a resource management sim where i have to manage costs and solve effectively a puzzle to restore the environment of the area. what i got was a tedious slog where you have to tear down every individual bit of machinery one at a time with no way to speed up this process, having to meticulously plan out not just the start, but also the middle and end bits. normally i'd take no issue with this, except when they introduced the monorails.

normally when you dismantle everything in the end, you bring it to resource collectors and follow the rivers. however when monorails get added, you have to not only plan out down to the detail, but down to the order you dismantle them, and you have to dismantle every last single one rather than the bulk recycling you had been doing up until that point, and you might need 30-40 of these to get everything and they take a full minute to dismantle. so what turned from a 10 minute puzzle turns into an hour slog of placing monorails to connect back to the air ship, reorganizing your entire island to finally collect every last one that was left and then finally you're done. it was genuinely painful.

keep an eye on sony, they might try this again if we don't remain vigilant. don't let them!

game was good, but after the last update no longer functions for me.

Great game to blow an hour or two on... or 20... the game is a time sink, and hundreds of hours can suddenly be destroyed when your story comes to an end by an ai generated event that spews toxins on you and blows up everything in your base all at once. modding community is active and has quite a few interesting things to add to the game and quality of life additions.
