Underwhelming expand-alone from a studio who's clearly running out of ideas.

Somewhat redeemed by how well they've nailed the setting, otherwise a mish-mash of poorly thought-out mechanics. Bad mechanics that the game often strongarms you into using: a forgettable cover system, hamstrung post-campaign leveling, and active skills that don't rotate well (a stack builder with 5 combos, and a dmg trigger that coolsdown in half the time? What rotation?). But the worst offender is by far the morality system.

In fact, the morality system is so bad it deserves its own explaination. Here is a paragon system that decides the story, that decides an entire skill tree, that decides your pve and pvp faction, that basically forces the player to make game-changing decisions--but with no exposition or explaination whatsoever! You're locked into a screen that forces you to make a decision, guised as a story decision, with no extra information.

Inquisitor Martyr, at its heart, is a gorgeous alpha-build. Complete with flawed mechanics, half-implemented systems, and all the promises of future 'content' you'd expect from an early access indie. Unfortunately for the game, "we'll finish the game soon (tm)" is not good enough for a USD30 title. It's a real shame, because it showed promise at times and could have been so much more.
