I consider this review to be completely spoiler-free, if that doesn’t happen to be the case, I’m extremely sorry.

Hello, I don't know the best way of getting this review started, since I'm just an ordinary gamer who lives in Brazil, but I'll try to do my best, so let's go!

First of all, in Pyre you lead a band of exiles, striving to achieve freedom back to the Commonwealth through the Rites, that play a very important paper within the game's plot. This game is a pretty different type of RPG than what we were used to seeing from Supergiant Games, with their previous games, Bastion and Transistor, respectively. Pyre completely abandons the old formula used in its predecessors, which consists basically in a isometric action/real-time/turn-based RPG, containing an amazing narrator present during the whole game and really tied with the plot. These characteristics have been replaced with visual novel elements, a much more detailed and deep history (that will most likely make you cry or spill some tears at the very least) and, the most noticeable change, a "slower" pace of the campaign (not a bad thing, but I had some difficulties about getting used to it). Also with an outstanding art direction (by Jen Zee) and a perfectly fitting original soundtrack (by Darren Korb, with vocals by Ashley Lynn Barrett and also Darren Korb). That's how I would describe Pyre in a summarized way.

Now, the reason that you clicked on "read more", a more detailed point of view:

The campaign, which is the longest ever made by Supergiant Games (so far), is extremely well written, entirely created by Greg Kasavin alone (as stated by Pyre's IMDb webpage). It really keeps the player engaged on the game, also making the player eager to know how it's going to unwind. The problem that I personally have with it though, is the fact that it takes a pretty longer amount of time to experience the volume of dialogs, that even though are really well made, make the game feel more slow and less dynamic. I mean, that varies from person to person, at first I felt not so much comfortable with it, since I don’t have much time to play videogames, because of school resposibilities. After some time, as I had previosly stated, I got used with this different approach for the game’s campain. I have nothing to complain about its quality and extreme depth.

The art! Supergiant Games proves again their originality with breathtaking environments that are completely different from one another inside the game itself, and also something 100% original after their previous games. The credit goes to Jen Zee, and her amazing work! Every place of the Downside feels truly original, organic and stunning!

The music! Darren Korb and Ashley Lynn Barrett again did an extraordinary job! The original soundtrack is totally fitting to the game’s theme, and also to the characters that you meet along the journey. The songs are excellent and really pleasant to listen. If you play this game, I highly recommend to buy Pyre’s Original Soundtrack, on Steam it comes with two extra albums (The Black Mandolin and The White Lute).

Also, Pyre contains multiple endings and I’ll leave it at that, in order to not to spoil the game. An amazing detail about this is that the ending song has several variations that correspond to YOUR campaign outcome.

So, as a Supergiant Games fan, I my verdict about this masterpiece is: BUY THE GAME! IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!

My final opinion sincerly consists that Pyre is not just a videogame, it’s an original and unique experience. A 0-10 number is just not enough to describe it. Thank you for reading up to this point. Have a great day! I hope that this review has helped you make up your mind about the decision to buy this awesome game. :D
