In a world of live service slop, abusive monetization, unfinished, unpolished garbage games that come out, ESPECIALLY free games, I was GENUINELY shocked by the quality of this game.

Installed it since it was free, tried with friends. We sucked. Didnt enjoy it all that much at first.
After I started to understand the flow, get used to the abilities, learn the maps a bit. It started to click.

Next time we played, we tried PvP. We stomped, we learned so much more. This game is actually fun?
The maps are destructable? The music is good? The characters kits have depth? Counters become easily understandable. Kits have multiple uses. Heroes work together well.

I'm just genuinely surprised that this game is actually fun.
I can only hope it doesnt get ruined by monetization/balance making the game feel flat, meta making the game solved.
But for now, Its free and its fun.

This is what you'd call a coffee/lunchbreak RPG.
You probably dont want to play this for hours on end.
Buuuuut... Its really fun to just play for a few minutes now and then. The barbarian in particular is a fun class because you get faster/stronger at low health and can sustain indefinitely if you can find the sweet spot on the right cooldowns. You can also AoE farm with it. I personally just like trying to play it like a tank.
Every now and then, I get the urge to come mess around on this again... Oh cool looking update.. Might try that. Hey new class, lets try it out. Dont feel like investing enough time to matter on a more serious game for a week.. Saw Josh Strife Hayes cover it, felt like playing for a bit... Suddenly I have 95 hours playing since beta.
I dont feel heavily invested in anything going on so I dont feel like I cant leave. I dont feel like I've missed out on anything so I dont feel like its a waste to come back. Eventually the classes felt like I'd explored what I wanted, then they updated the game today. New abilities open to every class. More abilities. More cross class ability slots. Holy cow, WHAT? They just did great with this latest update.

If you're into RPG management, idle games and or theory crafting builds, this game has a LOT for you.
I was initially interested because not only does every character have a talent tree, every ability for every class has a talent tree, and some individual abilities have like 3 different playstyles. Combine that with different subclasses and an offensive and defensive ability, you have a lot to work with.
The demo felt good enough to sell me on it, I'd highly recommend trying the demo if you're into this genre, It didnt automatically export my save, I'm not sure if there's an option to but I only lost a few hours of progress/idle time, maybe its because I uninstalled the demo before buying or something but whatever.

Lootrun consistently surprised me throughout my time playing with new transformative mechanics. Every single day I sat down to manage, I thought I'd be reaching the end of my options. But every single next time I sit down it throws something new at me. Oh new passives that really change my options. Oh man new gems that augment abilities. Oh man new ways to raise my stats. Oh man MORE new abilities. Oh man items that level up. Oh man items that change how mechanics work. Oh man items that rewrite ability behavior.

Then past all of that, you get to raids. Raids felt like puzzles. I could overpower a few of them but others genuinely had you readjust your entire roster. Yeah, your tanks might be fine doing the same thing, yeah the supports will probably always stay the same but having to tweak my dps behaviors and sometimes even swap out entire builds between some of them was more than I was expecting. Everything is very finely tuned. The pacing feels silky. Obviously you have to grind at parts but there's just always the right amount of power available nothing ever felt impossible you just needed a better strategy. At times I got lazy with items and had to revamp some characters to meet the power gap but you get through a lot with just good strategies and builds.

Was thinking heroic raids werent going to be that wild but they do add to the puzzle and you have to flex that theory crafting a bit more.

Slowly savoring the last bits of the game, I hear 1.1 is coming soon with more content so I dont want to have everything maxed and speed through the new content.

TL;DR If you like this genre, this is a good game with tons of build options and theory crafting. Try the demo if you're unsure.

This review is disregarding the EGS issue. I personally hate EGS and have a bad history with their lackluster account security. If you have an issue with EGS, take that into consideration on if you want the game or not.
Devs are currently looking into an alternative after feedback. I practically only play this game couch co-op these days so it doesn't effect me past having some Epic Games online services stuff installed before I launched the game. I also do honestly trust Sandlot, over the years they've been great. Im not upset over their "lack of communication" because they're eastern japanese developers and I'm in a western english audience, this wont float for everyone but they'll have to do more than just that to lose my trust. They definitely seem to care about the backlash and I hope its fixed. So the rest of the review is solely about the game outside of that issue. Again, if that's an issue for you, I'm not telling you to ignore it. I've been planning a sleepover weekend with my nephew for over a year to play this together so I wasnt going to let that ruin it for him and I dont regret it.

This game absolutely slaps. I was kind of worried about the setting seeming boring but MAN was I wrong. Some enemies seemed dorky and I wasnt sure I was going to like them, I love them. I've been playing this with my nephew and we call the little android guys nerds. The big androids dorks. They waddle around and look anxious all the time with big heads. It exceeded my highest expectations so far.

CLASSES have all been improved as is usually the case.
Ranger has a special item slot added, so you can have decoys/grenades/special throwables or bombs there, 2 weapons and either an armor upgrade or vehicle callin. Motorcycles can be used in underground levels which is nice to help them get around faster.

Wing Divers have a special weapon slot as well, which does not put a drain on their energy system. These range from "traps" which are little laser beams you can put out which just shoot in a line for a long period of time, getting enemies stuck in their "Get hit" animation. You can put an energy sword in that slot. You can throw out a shield that blocks projectiles. You can launch little homing bolts at nearby enemies. You can toss energy grenades. You can throw out orbs that shoot randomly nearby, you can throw lightning storms, you can throw out an orb that shoots a MASSIVE damage beam after a short delay. That ones my favorite. When I got the glow spear, I realized I could kill practically everything if I could keep them still with a laser, throw it out and then dash away. It feels so badass to pull off. I'm excited to see what insane tools I get late game.

Air Raider has... without spoiling, limitations at various stages of the game. Sometimes you cant call in big vehicles, sometimes you cant call in gunship fire. So you have new drone weaponry. Its plays similar to having a gunship like before but little drones go out and shoot the target or suicide bomb things. They're pretty neat, but I've found my favorite strategy with them is to just have swarms of little machine gun drones. You shoot all your beacons on a big enemy and they get peppered to death. It feels like playing a diablo 2 necromancer. I keep being surprised by a lot of the weapon innovation in this. Different styles of drones, some hover around you, some chase enemies down, some attack your beacon. Some you send on bombing runs. The classics still exist, you also have a 3 weapons and a special slot + your vehicle call in. Special slot for the drones that float around you, buff beacons, drones you just activate and it'll go hunt things down. Another class I'm excited to see what all the various options we get are. I'm about 50% through the game on normal right now so things are just starting to get a bit crazy in terms of what weapons you find.

The fencer, I havent spent much time on but has the 4 weapon slots, 2 special slots for augmenting your movement/boosts and whatnot. It feels good and it seems like there will be some fun special augments but its just hard to farm weapons for every class so quickly. I did take him for a spin when I got 2 different leg exoskeletons and stacked their movespeed, it was quite funny seeing my legs move so quickly when running down hill.

STORY has actually been quite interesting so far. Usually its just b-movie comedy but this time around I'm kinda looking forward to whats happening. Its going somewhere. Without spoiling what happens, the scale of the war picks up quickly. It doesnt just keep having you fight ants for a super long time before any new enemies come out. Escalation happens regularly. A few times you'll have kind of a "this is to tell more story" mission where not much really happens. But elite enemies are introduced kind of quickly this time. Like I said I'm only 50% through the game and I'm already fighting the special versions of most enemies and the escalation just keeps being pumped into the game.

MUSIC has actually been quite surprisingly good as well. The EDF 5 mission select is still there, but depending on certain stages of the story the music in the menu changes. They grew on me a lot, I found the in mission music to be really great in a few stages as well.

OVERALL this game is the same as the previous sequels. Its just the last game but better. 5 felt like a natural upgrade from 4.. 6 feels like... I'd almost say twice as good as the last. The pacing is better. The weapons are getting crazy faster. Its not 40 levels of ants, you get a lot of variety and new technology and enemies keep being thrown at you.
To spoil as little as I can, you even get to relive some of the highlights of 5 over again with all the new mechanics and weapons. And I really didnt mind replaying copy and pasted missions because again, its only the highlights of EDF5. It kind of helped highlight how much more fun this is than 5, having all the new mechanics in an old games mission.

This game far exceeds 5. Cant wait for the mission expansion packs. Cant wait to see them try and sweep up the EGS stuff. Cant wait to play more and see what happens in the story then start grinding out hardest and inferno. Game is like literally a 10/10 to me. I keep having me expectations blown away over and over again. Games make me feel cynical so often these days, but this game has started to make me feel like a kid again. The music is stuck in my head. New weapons make me stick to them out of sheer cool factor. I keep swapping between classes to enjoy them. Some levels are so fun we replay them and goof off. We make nicknames for all the enemies because we're having so much fun. Its just great.

Vampire survivors but as a FPS

The abilities tied to all the guns make for TONS of theory crafting. So much fun to just try building 4 of a gun or finding combos that work together in interesting ways

Community: There's a problem with high level players stomping everyone who tries to get out of the lowest difficulty
Devs: We hear you, so now we're not allowing anything worth taking in the lowest difficulty and allowing max tier gear to be brought into the FIRST STEP out of basic difficulty, this will fix matchmaking.

This is what kills every extraction game.

Was unsure at first about this but its quite fun.
Regardless of how much you like/dislike this game mode, its also MORE WILDERMYTH

Studio is going into hybernation, wanted to give them the positive reviews for their absolute gem of a game they've made.

I've played 3 campaigns of this so far. Playing a local co-op with friends so current campaign is slow going.
New element for weapons is fun, new artifacts are neat and great variety.

Game mode itself is a much shorter session of much more frequent combat. Difficulty to climb through if you're into it. I will likely find a point I enjoy and just have cool stories play out.

New maps, new bosses, new random junk here and there. All good stuff. My only complaint was my first game was hard killed by RNG early on but after that I had loads of fun, that's just the nature of Wildermyth.

More wildermyth, more variety, more strategy, more personality for your characters to grow into.

Farewell wildermyth devs. This does not mean the game is unfinished. I just wanted to give them the positive reviews this game deserves.

Sony has reversed their decisions about making PSN accounts optional. May the leaders of Cyberstan remember this next time they want to go against the wishes of the people.

I love this game, I love the devs.

May Freedom Reign forever. My life for Super Earth!
