I have played the everloving $%^* out of this game way back on the SNES, and to have it pop up on steam with updated everything, it's definitely hit the nostalgia button hard. The controls are butter smooth, the new attacks are a nice addition, and taking advantage of the iframes in attacks is still a go to way to get through crowded areas. Already on the 5th stage and the only, literal only complaint I have is that Ninja can't grapple the first boss and any time that dude shows up later. In the original, you could grapple stun that dude for a quick kill so kinda sad that will affect any speedruns of this, but that aside, the updated graphics, music, and controls are fantastic. Pick this up if you like side scrolling beat-em-ups!

I will start by stating I have only played the first few missions, but I can say that overall this is a solid attempt at a modern take on the Advanced Wars style of game. The units are all very well balanced and though out, the combat feels just right, and the graphics are on point for the game style. That said, the writing *is* a bit cheesy and the voice acting is on par with said cheesyness, but I kinda like it because of that fact. My one real gripe is that the AI can see through the fog of war. They ignore terrain blindness and always know where your units are regardless of how far away they may be which makes later levels a bit more difficult as you are basically playing against a stacked deck as it were, and the AI does get progressively more aggressive as well which is why as much as I want to recommend this game, I just can't until the AI gets fixed, makes later levels just battles of attrition.

So I have been playing this for just a little bit now, and I have to say this is one of the best if not THE best MMO I have had the chance to play. It has everything! Beautiful graphics, fantastic story, engaging characters, a LOT of nostalgic content if you have played many other FF games (They have content and jokes and just bits and things from FF1-6 so far, probaby more but I haven't found it yet). If nothing else, all I have to say is Ghost Train fight is the best fight, then maybe Kefka and his tower...
