Deponia has one of the worst main characters in my history of playing video games. He's clearly written as a discount Guybrush Threepwood, but not a single one of his "jokes" lands. He's just one-note whiny and sarcastic at you and everyone he encounters. Maybe that changes eventually, but it's grating enough in the first hour for me to not care to find out.

The art is great and the controls are about as refined as they can be for a point & click adventure, which is a shame because the writing is some of the most repulsively bad I've ever seen. Feels like it's written by a would-be school shooter.

This game does not have anything remotely close to "full controller support".

Beautiful art and even more beautiful music. The story is minimalist but powerful and the gameplay is just *chef's kiss* so so smooth. Some very interesting puzzles and abilities. Definitely a must-play in the Metroidvania subgenre. There are a few sequences (all similar in gameplay) that had me pulling my hair out. Those were rough - but doable. And oh so satisfying when I finally got past them.

First off, the bad:

- This time around, the puzzle aspect was kind of weak.
- Stealth combat is far better than it had been, but then there are some dumb as hell arcade shooter sequences.
- Pacing starts off great, then kind of trudges on once you reach Paititi.
- Speaking of... I hated Paititi as a hub area. It never felt much less confusing to traverse than the first time I visited.
- Despite toting some new impressive graphics tech this time around, I often felt underwhelmed by the level design, nothing felt quite as grandiose as anything seen in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
- Too many underwater sequences. Way too many.
- NPCs ramble on too long.

And yet, despite all these issues, it may yet be my favorite game in the trilogy for one reason. Lara. Her character is portrayed better in this game than any other. Camilla Luddington really deserves awards for her performance. Really emotionally charged and believable. Don't get me wrong, this game does a lot of things really well, but it does Lara perfectly.

Some of the strong points:

- Much stronger and fleshed out side characters.
- Traversal/movement felt polished.
- Runs better than a game this pretty ought to.
- Some fantastic and clever story sequences.
- Photo mode is fun and Ansel support is a welcome addition.

All in all, a strong entry to the series and a decent enough end to a trilogy. But personally, I want to see more from this universe.

A legitimately great game. And now that they aren't pissing all over the modding community, I'm on board again.
