A work simulator that shed light on what we hate the most, that would be the drive that kept us do such thing and how the completion of such goals could been the true punishment and not the laborious work that you actually enjoyed participating in. it's not like other indie games about depression. it's about your depression when you have done everything and the happy acceptance that come after job well done after long session of work.

I would love to make a comprehensive review on the game but honestly the developer/or who ever. gave up upon this series and DL2 was almost a downgrade in many areas. not only they focused on pointless areas that are not why people liked DL1 (the story in DL2 is TRASH and big pointless map with hardly any landmark then few) I am not here to put effort in my review.

I am here to lament the loss of this once great series (mainly Dying light 1 and the following expansion) DL points and the tencent acquisition is the final nail in the coffin.

This next review i will be talking about both Snowdrop (devs previous game) and Swelter. In review I will be talking how they improved on their previous work, don't take this review as me saying Snowdrop is bad but on the contrary. both has their merit and problems.

I like both but Swelter is much better mod. Snowdrop is more experimental and what i like about it, is the sub plot of between dimensions as also bit of SCP foundation feeling to it. Both are fan fiction but Swelter can fit into HL series much better (i only disliked the drone control section and it not fitting into the series but i appreciate as mod trying to mix things up) not fan of the two guns limit in Snowdrop but exploring around to find new guns is really nice and wished Swelter has more (you can find the AK) also the good thing about Swelter. that the devs learn a principal Valve was doing for years. less is more, as also maintain a good pace of gameplay. I was shocked that Swelter was ~4h. the mod surely felt longer because how good are the contents in it and being well paced (good thing) Snowdrop is bit longer of ~6h.

I do understand the disliking by the community for those mod because of including elements we may consider sin in the series (2 gun limits, cutscenes, turret section etc..). tho when i play mod, i really want different experience and i don't think the devs claimed it was supposed to be grounded in the universe and not more than fan fiction (fan fiction can be good) I have a random example. mod name Bisounours Party. it like a whole game that got nothing to do with HL2 other than being on the same engine. I love it.

My only true criticism to Snowdrop and Swelter. that the devs like using arrows and icons to tell you what to do next. I understand you don't want us to get stuck. please don't use them. they are immersion breaking. Using the red cloth in Swelter is better because it's more hidden. in some area the layout and how the level is set. like in the infested village is good example how you guys did it right.

Also the last sequences of the drone fight kinda came off out of left field and too janky. the turret section make bit of sense in terms of the story, because you need to fight back if you want to convince the combine that you actually died. tho i think it still a weak part of the mod , especially when this mod over all had so many all well made encounters and nothing overstay its welcome

Remove aim assist on pc and add new cue where we play with randoms and no premade squads. FIX THE SERVERS.

Crack in digital form .

Cost less than most skins in other video games . it's just fun game .

I was early adopter of the game when we used to have only the first area and it used to cost 2.99$ . Best 2.99$ I spent .

So far the best fan made narrative HL2 game (it's beyond mod imo)

what I like :
-a lot of changes of the vanilla HL2 weapons and combat that are improvement on the HL2 lineup .
-Integrating an already existing enemies from the Hl2 universe . so far the best implementation of them.
-difficulty are more balanced (much better than EZ1) I recommend playing on hard if you are competent player . the game is generous in term of giving you resources .
-Glad to see the rebel getting upgraded (and it make sense in the world) I would get boring fast if they were vanilla HL2 .
-Good voice acting .
-I actually like the story . it's a logical continuation from The Combine perspective . Using the available information surrounding the events after episode 2 . Wilson Bad cop and Alter cop are all solid . it's fanfiction but I am not using the word as derogatory term here but as a compliment . I actually liked the Radio guy but I can't stop thinking about Mitchel from lambda generation . I have nothing against the guy . he actually done good job but knowing the voice actor kinda pulled me by bit out of the experience .
-Utilizing the squad leader feature . [side note: Come on Valve give us game like swat 4 but you control a Combine squad] .
-Good level design and keeping true to the spirit of Hl2 by shaking things up .
-Good music!

Thank you and everyone who worked on this . I understand We probably will not get more from EZ universe according to you . So good luck with your future endeavors and please keep making games . any game .

PS: Please make the Clone boss secondary AR2 attack not a insta kill (playing on hard) . I know it supposed to from the lore but even in HL2 you don't die if you are full health and armor .

We own those games . you don't have the right to take it from us .

terrible performances . don't buy it until few years and when it's on sales or until they fix the issues with it .
